Story
Meet Poppy! Poppy is a 6yr old, Terrier mix, spayed female and up to date on vaccines/preventatives. She is house trained, kennel trained, and vehicle trained as well. Poppy is a medium energy dog; feisty and likes to socialize BUT she's a little crusty on the outside and super gooey on the inside. She loves her people and her friends; however, you'll need to earn her trust. Poppy can be energetic, plays casually and enjoys sustained games of chase with her friends, on her terms (fun police.) She can get cranky if play becomes too vigorous and she gets pounced on too much/hard. Poppy has a little bit of arthritis, and it can be painful, so she will gladly retreat to the door to let you know she is done with playtime. She is more than willing to go inside, follow you around or curl up, chill, and get her belly rubbed. Being small but mighty, Poppy occasionally has bouts of barking at what she sees moving in the distance and will go zooming up and down the fence line in arousal of anyone/thing approaching; however, she will calm down on her own with minimal intervention from her person. When greeting you, Poppy displays the typical wiggle body and wildly wagging tail. Have you seen how long her tail is?! It waves like a banner over her back and is simply adorable! She may initially hop up to put her feet on you, letting you know she's happy and wants to interact with you, she loves attention and will display a little eagerness to get more loves... so saying her name as she's being petted, and the name of the other dog(s) being petted keeps her content. Noteworthy Behaviors: Poppy displays barrier reactivity with new people/surroundings as a way to express her anxiety in the situation. She will need a person or family, (with older children), who will understand and take their time with her. Once you win her over, she is gold! She is quirky about having her collar touched so she will whine, cower down, and roll to her side. She will display mouthy behavior as you attempt to put a leash on her, but she genuinely wants to go out so don't give up! She will pop right up and head to the door after being leashed!! Key points to consider when adopting Poppy: she is sugar and spice with bursts of energy so great with a laid back and an active family. Honorable mention: Poppy does have a housemate, Sully, who is also up for adoption. If you're looking for two friends, then they are your duo! They would have an easier transition into a new home together but they are not bonded. $200 Local adoption fee (in Texas) $400 Out of State Fee (includes transport to your area) $50 Fuel temporary fuel surcharge

Story
Mindy and Lindsey Hello! I am one half of a twin set of Jack Russell terrier females who are unexpectedly looking for a new home. The reason for that is our owner unfortunately was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and is not expected to live very long so his mom (who is 95y/o) decided to let the rescue find us a new and wonderful home. I am Mindy, and I am the full-figured twin with the great shape! Round is a shape, right? I do have to admit that I love a full food bowl and since Lindsey is such a slow eater, I do help her to finish from time to time. Foster mom is helping me by feeding us separately so I don't gain any more weight. We are 8.5 years old and have been together since the womb, so we are tightly bonded together. We do everything together. We have our own bed that we share and toys that we love that will come with us. I tend to be a little more reserved while Lindsey is the more adventurous one and initiates most everything we do. We are both very loving and will happily share your bed if you let us. Foster mommy says we are a dream to walk on a leash and when you pick up a leash, we come running because we love to walk and explore the outside world. It took a little bit of time to figure out that we can go outside in the backyard without a leash on, but we are getting used to going into the back yard, "naked so to speak. We have been well loved over the years and have been to see the vet for all our vaccinations, preventions and in between if we got an Ouchy or anything. Our previous home was the best and we hope our new forever home will be just as great! We get along with dogs, kids, and cats but we can get a little intimidated with the "in your face introductions so please give us little time to adjust. It won't be long before we are part of the household and a loving member of your family. Our adoption fee is $500.00 locally in Texas. Out of state adoption fee is $700 (includes transport to your area, $50 temporary fuel fee will be included)

The reason for that is our owner unfortunately was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and is not expected to live very long so his mom (who is 95y/o) decided to let the rescue find us a new and wonderful home. I am Lindsey, the thinner twin. I am not sure why that is exactly, but I am active and think that is part of it. I do yield my food bowl to Mindy, so that may be part of it also. Foster mommy has learned to feed us separately so I get enough to eat, and Mindy can't be a little piggy, but don't tell her I said that, ok? We are 8.5 years old and have been together since the womb, so we are tightly bonded together. We do everything together. We have our own bed that we share and toys that we love that will come with us. I am the more adventurous one and will check out and try new things before Mindy does. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Beau Background Beau came to us with all of his siblings from an animal hoarder's home in California. He is the last of his litter who needs a home. Beau is neutered and up to date. What Beau Needs Beau is initially shy but opens up to a sweet and loving, friendly 2-year-old boy. Beau is a Jack Russell-Papillon mix known as a Papi-Jack. He is used to an all-female household and does not do well with men so a woman-only home is best. He needs a yard for sunning and to potty. Beau prefers to have 1-2 dog friends to thrive as he has had other dogs with him his whole life. Beau  was rescued from a hoarding situation and is used to being part of a larger dog group so having a friend or two is critical to his well-being. If you are seeking a lover boy who wants to be with you everywhere, is super playful, and loves having a buddy dog to be close to, Beau is your boy. Beau has a medium long soft silky fur coat. Beau does best when he is kept well-groomed, brushed, and bathed. He just adores being clean and brushed. Beau loves attention, being talked to, and hugs.  He is housebroken but has also learned how to use a Peepad as a backup if needed. Beau is intelligent, lovingly gentle, and protective. He becomes very close to his special person. Beau does become a watchdog if you have company so he will need a nice quiet place he can retire to if you have guests and people he has not been properly introduced to in the home.               Beau is shy at first and does best with only 1-2 people. He becomes a lap dog, hugger, and kisser once he knows he can trust his humans. Beau likes all small dogs he has met and has done well with a few older lab puppies we have brought in and engages them in play. He is a healthy boy. He does need a cat and a small animal-free home due to the prey drive of Jack Russells, he has cleaned the house of visiting mice and moles on the rescue property. Beau is shy at first and will not approach would-be adopters at the rescue. Once he is settled in a home, he will take to his new female adopter quickly and bond deeply. (He may take to a male human with time and patience) Rompin Paws will work with you on proper introductions to the home and help him decompress and settle in. Beau is such a cuddly boy and lover once he decides you are his person, he is truly yours. He loves to follow me around the home and will put his paws on my leg when he wants to be picked up. He loves to roll over for belly rubs, be picked up and held and he loves to wrap his front legs around your neck and give hugs.    How To Adopt Beau   Please use the link below to apply. One of our volunteers will review the application and call to follow up with questions, answer yours, and see if you are a match for this pup.  If it looks like a match can be made, then the next step is a meet and greet. Please use a computer as tablets and cell phones will drop the application. Beau has been transitioned to a human-grade diet that avoids kibble in place of a healthy canine-specific feeding regimen. We will educate his adopters on proper diet and nutrition for his and his new buddies.  To apply to adopt Beau he has a $550.00 adoption fee.  All monies will be recycled to cover medical care and rescue more dogs. Please fill out the online application using this link.  Please be thorough in your answers and expound whenever possible so we get to know you and can make the best match.                      https ://rompinpawsrescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/ Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 26, 2024, 4:00 pm
