This handsome, furry doggo is Hugo! He arrived at the shelter as a lost boy on 4/12, and no one has come to reclaim him. Hugo is so very sweet and loving, but he's also quite timid. The shelter environment probably has something to do with his shyness, but he'll need an understanding and kind person to help him break out of his shell and learn to trust. We're thinking he's been lost and out on his own for a while due to his coat being matted. He'll feel better once he's had a good grooming! Hugo knows how to sit nicely when asked; he may know more commands. If you have a soft spot for the large, shy dogs please come meet Hugo! Hugo is approximately 4 years old, and he weighs 87 lbs. He is UTD on vaccines, and he will be neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested upon adoption. Hugo is waiting in run 84; his ID # is 656866. Note - all the listings on Friends of Shelter Animals for Cobb are done by volunteers. If this cat or dog came in as a lost animal, we do not know how they might be with children, other pets, or if house trained. You can bring your pet to the shelter for a meet & greet with your potential new best friend. When inquiring about a cat or dog, please use THE ID NUMBER. This pet is available for adoption from Cobb County Animal Services, 1060 Al Bishop Dr. Marietta, GA 30008, (770) 499-4136. Shelter hours: Tues. - Sun. 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed Mondays & Holidays. The shelter prefers people to make an apt., go to - https://nqa3.nemoqappointment.com/Booking/Booking/Index/as65fg9dr953 and select Adoption. Or you can just stop by during business hours. The adoption includes shots, altering, a heartworm or combo test and a microchip. When you book an apt., it does not reserve a particular pet for you.

PLEASE COMPLETE THE ADOPTION APPLICATION FIRST. WE DO NOT RESPOND TO ONLINE INQUIRIES - ONLY ADOPTION APPLICANTS. Meet Peggy! Peggy is a sweet and sensitive girl with a huge heart who is always ready for what’s next. Whether it’s taking a long cozy nap with you or going on a leash walking adventure! Peggy can take a little time to come out of her shell at first but once she does she will fall head over paws for you. When in new situations she may need some direction from you to show her the way but is very eager to please and gains so much confidence through each obstacle she faces. She thrives with some exercise such as walks during the day but doesn’t require heavy amounts of work. She also enjoys learning new skills like waiting before coming out of doorways, the place command, sit, down, stay, and more! She loves a good brain work out! She is very motivated by affection and eager to connect with you, but isn’t too food motivated. She is well mannered around human food, has some experience being around cats, and is currently working on healthy dog socialization in the Mirror Image K9 Day Camp program. She is happy with sleeping in her crate at night and feels safest in there when people are not around or she’s feeling overwhelmed. Continued crate training is a must! Peggy would do best in a family who loves to go on walks or hikes, is able to provide her with direction in times of uncertainty, is willing to work towards building trust in confidence in Peggy, and has just as big a heart as she does!
