Mackie is shy and anxious at first but will open up to those who show patience and care. Mackie takes longer than usual to be trusting of humans because of her past. As with all dogs we save from puppy mills, they will need a family who is understanding and prepared to work through a period of transition with them as they learn to live in a house and around people. Marie is special needs! She is partially blind due to bad breeding practices (double Merle) Meet Luis, Chey, Marie, and Sophie! These cuties are 8 week old lab/miniature poodle mixes who were saved from a commercial breeding facility in Lancaster county due to being born with umbilical hernias. These sweeties are understandably shy and nervous at first, but are doing a great job learning to trust new people! Marie (first picture) is special needs! She was born double Merle and is therefore partially blind. Her eyes did not fully form but we believe she can see shadows! As with all dogs we save from puppy mills, they will need a family who is understanding and prepared to work through a period of transition with them as they learn to live in a house and around people. They will need time to trust their new family before working on training, such as house training. This should go without saying, but we require all our animals to be trained using positive reinforcement methods ONLY. Puppy mill dogs tend to do best in a home without young children as well (10+), though this determination is made on a case by case basis. Each pups adoption fee is $800.
