Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/. Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be about within an hour of Wilmington, DE for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit. Meet Etta! Etta is a 12-year-old, 8 lb. mystery breed of furry cuteness. She was found as a stray suffering from long-term neglect, and we lovingly welcomed her into our care. Etta was spayed, had 13 teeth removed, and was treated for a UTI. She has a bit of arthritis but doesn’t require any medication. Etta is blind, but it has not slowed down her sense of adventure. She loves to explore outside and navigates rooms with ease. Etta will need protection around stairs and should not be left alone outside. She gets eye drops as needed. Etta is good with frequent potty breaks and also uses pee pads. She gets along well with other animals but would also thrive as an only dog. Etta will respectfully give a snap if another dog gets in her face, to ask for some space. She would do best in a home with older children or an adult-only home. Etta is described as a happy couch potato. She loves her food and cuddling with people but is also ok snuggling up in a dog bed. Etta enjoys being picked up, and flops over for belly rubs every chance she gets. This sweet senior deserves the best life has to offer. Can it please be with you? Apply today!

Story
Ross is a 4yo 13lb Lhasa Apso. He’s dog and kid 10+ friendly. He is house and crate trained. He loves running so a secure fenced in yard is best for him. He does very well on leash when using a good technique and loves to be out in the world on adventures. He loves balls and rubber ball toys. He likes playing with other dogs and people but will need a little warm-up time for both. He is very friendly, playful and excitable, which if in an overly excitable state has been known to bite so needs to not to have people come into his space. He will need to have people to work on training with this and give him structure. He is very intelligent, responds to some commands and travels well in the car. Ross MUST have a home with a secured fenced in yard along with people to give him leadership, consistency, structure and to continue working with him on his training. Peter Wolf of Your Happy Dog who volunteers his time with Tiny Paws will be at the meet with Ross and all humans and animals in the house to help with the transition. If your home DOES NOT fit this please DO NOT put an application in. We will not call anyone not a fit. Also, we will be concentrating on local to foster applications 1st since home checks and meets with all humans and animals in home is needed at meet. Our fosters are all volunteers so aren’t always able to travel too far. Ross is neutered, vaccinated, hw negative and microchipped. Currently in Warminster, PA. If your home fits the bio and MUST haves and you’re interested in applying to adopt please do so at www.tprescue.org

Story
Extra, Extra Read All About! Miss Geneva has arrived on the adoption floor with a beautiful makeover. Geneva's days of breeding are over, and she is ready to be pampered. She is a 5 year old Lhasa Apso . This beauty is housetrained, but we do have a doggie door so expect some regression in new environment. She is timid in the beginning but warms up quickly. She will be your shadow, but not a velcro dog. Cuddling isn't required, but she'll accept it after she warms up. She is an independent woman happy to hang with other dogs in the home. Not leash trained and really loves a fenced in yard. Due to being stand-offish until trust is earned, she is best with children at an age that understands that. Not cat tested, but her demeanor is that she would probably be indifferent. The more animals the better. She lives with 9 dogs, 6lbs to 70lbs, and likes them all. Learning stairs well. Cautiously goes down, easily can go up. Not a picky eater but can be a hog so expect her to try to take some of the other animal's food if permitted.  No food aggression nor guarding issues.  Shes spayed, vaccinated, and had a dental. Story
Bailey is a sweet senior dog that just wants to be loved. He has had a rough couple of months, but things are finally looking up for him! He was surrendered to a local shelter when his owner couldn’t care for him any more.. his eye was in rough shape and the vet determined it was best to remove it. Who knows how long this poor boy was in pain? Only having one eye doesn’t stop him from enjoying life, in fact he’s so much happier now that he’s no longer in pain (his hair will grow back. He was shaved around his eye for surgery).  He’s about 20 pounds and around 12 years old, but he doesn’t like to think so. He likes to frolic in the yard and enjoy sniffing and exploring. He also enjoys leisurely walks. He is trained and can be left out without accidents when you are not home. He loves to sleep in bed with his people at night. He will also sleep on a dog bed in your room if you prefer. He gets startled a bit with new folks or if you approach too quickly so would be best with older children. He is a bit too curious with cats so would probably be best without one in the house. He would love to be the king of your castle as an only dog. He is not aggressive with other dogs, but we think he would prefer to be your one and only. He is a very sweet boy, loving boy who deserves a soft landing after all he has been through. If you would like to meet him, apply at bcaaofnj.orgInterested in adopting this pet?Click here for BCAA's on-line Application! PLEASE NOTE: Our adoption fee helps to cover our expenses and includes all shots, *age appropriate*, distemper and rabies, fecal check, spay/neuter, heartworm test, grooming, and in many cases dental and also the fee we pay when we rescue from a shelter.
