Story
Hello world! My name is MAGS (or Maggie) and here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Maltese Mix  Age: approx. 1 year Gender: Female Weight: 20.5 lbs, 9.4 kg Height: approx. 52 cm (paws to top of head), 42 cm (paws to shoulders) Length (head to butt): approx 64 cm Neck circumference: 28 cm Chest circumference: 58 cm Current Location: MEXICO CITY RESCUE STORY – I was rescued in December 2023 from a gas station in Tlanepantla, Mexico. I was in heat and all the other local stray dogs were following me around, it was so scary for me. I was very dirty, thin, and had fleas. Thankfully, my rescuers swooped in and saved me. I got spayed and am now well taken care of at the shelter. Boy am I ever ready for my bright, happy, love-filled future! TEMPERAMENT - I am a sweet, loving girl who can be a bit of an attention hog, what can I say! I love to be petted first before all the other dogs (and if you ignore me, I may bark at you until you pet me, hehe). My rescuer describes me as having a noble characted; I am also smart and obedient and I really want to please people. I am the first to interact with humans who come to visit, however I need some time before I fully trust them. Go at my pace and I'm sure I'll warm up in no time (and then I'll be demanding pets!) I loveee chicken, apples, and tortillas for snackies (video). I like to play with my chihuahua friends at the shelter and I prefer to sleep alone in my kennel with the door open at night. I have a stuffed bear in my kennel, who I love to snuggle up with. I like to travel in the car too! Sometimes, I like to climb up on top of the kennels at the shelter and look at all the other doggies (there's 100+ of them!) ENERGY LEVEL - medium energy - I'm pretty average in terms of energy! I require walks and play time, but then I'm happy to cuddle up and snooze. GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Unknown. Dogs – I'm a pretty neutral girl around other dogs. Aside from my select few chihuahua friends, I mostly just peacefully coexist with the other dogs here. I don't try to play, but I don't cause any trouble either. I really just want human affection! Here's a video of me in the courtyard with some of the bigger dogs at the shelter. Cats – Unknown TRAINING: Leash skills – I am pretty timid on leash and quite unsure of the whole thing, if I'm being honest. Check out this video of me so you can get an idea of how I do on leash. I am looking for a calm, confident adopter who can show me the ropes of leash walking. With time, I have no doubt I'll learn to love walkies and will be happy to explore my surroundings! House trained – Not yet! With 100+ dogs at the shelter, I don't get the 1-on-1 attention needed to achieve house training status. Positive reinforcement and lots of frequent bathroom breaks will help me learn new habits in my forever home :) Please Note: WCP Dog Rescue partners with Unleashed Dog Training (Hannah Swain, Balanced Dog Trainer) to offer adopters 50% off one training session (not including tax and applicable gas surcharges). Any subsequent sessions will be offered at standard rates. WCP also highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.  HEALTH NOTES: I am spayed and vaccinated. I have proof of all my vaccines and test records. I receive a monthly pill to prevent heartworm. ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $750.00 CAD + applicable taxes. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and it's adoption process. The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live.  WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed. These are strictly "best guesses" based on veterinary exams and their educated estimates.  ##2016155##

Story
Teeheehee. Hi, my name is Geena (Tina) and here is a little info about me:Breed: Maltese mixAge: 7 yrsGender: femaleWeight: 4 kgHeight: 20 cmHighlight(s): kind-hearted, calm, mostly blind, cuddly Ok, I have a super sniffer. I have to in order to get around well. Just a middle aged pupper looking for her second half home.Found  by my rescuer in a park in the Middle East without an owner, she tried to find my family, but nobody came forward. Likely dumped there, as often happens in my country when people tire of having a dog. I know, so sad. They may have abandoned me, because I am no longer a spry, playful puppy. This is due to the fact one of my eyes is pretty well blind and the other has poor vision. I have cataracts. No worries, I still get around just fine. Please no interior decorators rearranging furniture all the time. LOL. I currently live with a foster, but she can't hold me long, as the Landlord doesn't want any dogs there. Again, typical my country. Double sad.I'm a kind-hearted dog, who just wants to light up your life with happiness. You know dynamite in a small package. Only the explosion you'll get is pure love. I'll stay close, keeping you warm. I generally do my business on pee pads, though occasionally make a mistake. I'm sure once we get a routine of going putside, it will be much better. In my country it is also illegal to walk dogs outside. TRIPLE sad, right?I'd prefer a home where my person is home most of the time, as I do fine for about 2 hours, then start to bark. Hey, I don't know where you are after a while. I enjoy sleeping next to you and snuggling though. Energy Level: lowI get along with:Dogs: yes, no, unknownCats: yes, no, unknownKids: yes, no, unknown Fears: if any known, explain or unknown/none observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.Training: pee pad trainedLeash skills: no. Please be prepared to train me.House trained: somewhat. Please help me learn where to go in my new home. Health notes: I have vision problems, cataracts. Can't really see with 1 and only see poorly in other.I have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $650.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. [MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East. [TURKEY] *Dogs receive 4D SNAP tests - which include: Heartworm, Ehrlichiosis, Leishmania and Anaplasmosis. ##1970050##

Story
Hello, my name is Dennie (Benny) and here is a bit about me:Breed: Maltese/Poodle mixAge: 2 yrsGender: maleWeight: 13 lbsHeight: 9-1/2 inchesHighlight(s): cuddly, smart, patient, quiet, sweet, calm You'll find I am a serene and sweet pupper. I am fluffy and soft and just love to cuddle up on a loving lap.You see life was a tad rough for me and I was hurt by someone who was supposed to love me. He was a drug addict though. So neighbors saved me from him multiple times. Until finally at 7 months old, a neighbor who found me in really bad shape. In fact, with 2 broken bones and paralyzed. They dropped me off at the shelter. I was almost euthanized by the vet, but my rescuer looked into my eyes and saw life and hope. I’ve always had hope and felt I was meant for a better life, so I guess she got the message from my big brown eyes, that I was meant to live!  https://youtube.com/shorts/Kr2IwLcW_xU?si=_SnfdVeuQLtTjo2SThank goodness my eyes can speak and are so expressive! My rescuer fought for my life and so did I. It took 3 months for recovery and I have plates in my leg. Not to worry, I can walk and run around fine playing with the other dogs. You would not believe what a good boy I am. I am never aggressive and really only bark when I am scared of some big dog. I am quite happy now: https://youtu.be/6-BV7gcj_cY and just know the right new owner will adopt me soon. I don’t mean to brag, but I am quite soft and fluffy and cute, and I have overheard them saying how smart, patient and quiet I am. I kind of hope I meet my match, someone who is almost like my soul mate and is also patient, calm and kind. Someone who talks kind to me, lets me cuddle in their lap, protects me from bigger dogs, understands my sense of adventure and my love for toys! I’m only 2 after all, so I am still into toys and I am pretty curious, since exploring is how I learn best!I am eager to follow commands and learn new things. I just wish I had my house training under control. I am hoping I can get it right, but right now the vet is not certain if the damage to my spine is permanent or temporary and only time will tell. So I still have some #2 accidents. I was in a crate for a very long time and now I just want a loving lap and a fresh start with someone I can be my loving self with. I hope you are my match! I'm in love with attention from kids too and showering my affections on them, as well: https://youtu.be/S0XuZYp3eTQ,  https://youtu.be/m4g4KYjxUS0.  Energy Level: moderate to moderate lowI get along with:Dogs: yesCats: yes, searching for videoKids: yes Fears: just big dogs right now.
