Introducing Ruby – she’s cheeky, goofy and so affectionate! What will it be about Ruby that will capture your heart? Will it be her adoring gaze, fun-loving and silly antics or those unbelievable pearly whites that could only rival that of a A-list actress. ​ Have you been looking for a sidekick in your life that will greet you with open arms and quite literally reach out for hugs because they are so happy to see you? The amount of love this girl has to give is almost too good to be true. She loves her people and has a fondness for kids too! Her favourite pastime is curling up in your lap for a nap. ​ Ruby has been exposed to cats. She may challenge the cat a bit and may chase, but it feels like the motivation to do so is based on friendship and a want for a companion. Ruby does not like to be alone but with time, patience and another canine in the home this will surely improve. Easily meets people and dogs on neighborhood walks which makes us believe a home with a confident and friendly dog would suit her best. If there is a young person in the home that would be a bonus! ​ Take a seat because her background will make you shake your head with disbelief. She was found abandoned on a reserve, emaciated and pregnant. Sadly, she lost her entire litter as she was too weak to support the puppies. She was literally starving and it seems like a consequence of this makes her starved for attention. So, she bonds hard and fast and is working on this in her foster home. She is quite literally re-building herself both physically and mentally. ​ A work-from-home scenario or one where family members are home for the majority of the day is ideal. She can get vocal when you leave the house but with distraction this is improving. ​ Next up, car rides. She’s the kinda gal who rides nose up with ears blowing in the wind. You can just tell that it brings her joy. She is interested in squirrels and geese but her prey drive doesn’t seem to be high. It is almost an inquisitive thing. ​ Not crated in the house, sleeps on her dog bed in the bedroom and looks to her stuffie collection for comfort. She LOVES stuffies! ​ She is a mastiff mix and it clearly shines through. She is affectionate, has a gentle demeanour and takes calm direction well. Easily trainable and leash skills are improving every day. ​ Ruby’s adoption fee is $700. She is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and has been both spayed and microchipped. Ranger is the tallest of the males in his litter of 10. He is vocal and loves to tell you about his day and then tell you again! He loves to be pet and looks at a gate as a challenge, not a barrier. He is a typical busy puppy, who loves to play, run, and wrestle. He will be a large dog, as both mom and dad are over 75 pounds. He is looking for a forever home that has some experience with the food motivated lab and stubborn mastiff. It is recommended that he attend a puppy socialization class to become comfortable with friends who are not his siblings. He will be visiting the vet this week for his vaccines, flea and tick treatment, microchip, and wellness screening. He will come with a voucher for his neuter at 6 months of age at our vet in Woodstock. His adoption fee is $500. You must be 21 years old to adopt and provide vet and personal references. AVAILABLE FOR FOSTER TO ADOPT OR ADOPTION Cedar finally after 3 years had her chance at a life outside of living in a kennel, and this is exactly what this girl needed. Even though her foster to adopt didn’t work out the way we all hoped, we are also so grateful Cedar got the chance to show a great family how amazing and loyal she is, outside of a kennel. Unfortunately, there have been changes in her foster’s life, which has come down to them not being able to adopt Cedar. With her being out of a kennel and into a home, the last thing we are wanting is for her to be put back in a kennel environment, because of how far she has already come living in a home. Going back into a kennel after being in a home for this long, will set her back HUGE and we don’t want that at all. Cedar is getting older, and she deserves to live the rest of her life being able to love her family and be the best friend she is. This girl has been overlooked for 3 years, and honestly, we don’t get it. We have several wonderful dogs living in kennels, getting overlooked for the younger “easy” dogs, when is it their chance to leave and never look back? Cedar is and will always be one of the rescue favorites, because if you’ve personally met her, you know she has the most loving soulful eyes and a loyalty to her that goes unmatched. She does great with woman, men she is extremely selective and needs more time and patience to bond with them. Other Observations: Cedar is very smart so takes to training very well, which is great as this has continued to help her progress with building confidence. Because she can be timid or shy, she would do amazing in a home with a confident owner. Also, she needs an experienced dog handler to lead her. She cannot be in a hectic home or a home with people who are not gentle with her. Due to her abuse in her pass, a home with hand raising and yelling will cause Cedar to be reactive/protective. In a quiet loving fun home, she’s a character who makes you laugh and is great a cuddling. A home with limited guests is best suited for her. From Cedars Foster: We've had Cedar as a foster now for more than a couple of months. She's been such a good dog! This was our first experience fostering. It's been a time of laughter because we've watched her play more like a little puppy than her actual age. Throwing Herself on the grass and literally doing grass angels all 4 paws in the air. Oh, and this is her most relaxed state is on her back sleeping. It's so funny to see a dog do. She's accompanied on many walks and although never really long ones, she Loves to stop and smell the roses! We had our routine down, out for a pee first thing as my boyfriend was up for work at 530am. Then, I'd go put a pair of pants and she knew it was time for a walk. She'd Wait by the front door for her collar and leash. and just sit patiently. And I mean patient. I've never seen such a patient dog! We would come home after our walk, hopefully she pooped, to make room for her breakfast. And most of the time she did like clockwork! So, I'd come home and it was time to multi-task. Get her breakfast and mine, including my coffee! Her kibble was mixed with a tbsp of coconut oil melted on it. I'd tell her it was going to be so yummy, and she’d come as soon as it was on her mat with fresh water. If she didn't eat it all, I'd have to stir it up a bit so it wasn't all chunked up together. Her day comprised or sleeping under my work desk at home while I work. I knew it was time to go out when she’d wake up. When my boyfriend came home, she was so happy to see him, she tried to jump up as though she was giving him a big hug. This dog has so much love to give. She loves to cuddle!! She slept with us. She had a bed so when things got too hot, she went to the floor or on her bed. A fresh water bowl not far from her at all times. Supper time, so time for me to be done work. She came first. I mixed her kibble with a beef bouillon mix from the pet store with ¼ cup of warm water and stirred it all up. She loves that! After supper, there was another walk for her alone with me or with both my boyfriend and I. But around 7 or 8pm, she'd start to act funny. Yes, she was ready for bed already. It forced us to relax earlier than usual. Have our cuddle time with her. And this dog can sleep! She loves her sleep. She was just the right speed of energy! When she was trying to get our attention, it was when we'd be tired, she'd get her loudest toy and play with it! Yes, just like a child. She is truly a remarkable dog. She has a big heart and recognizes the same in others. She loves to wake up my teenage son in the morning for school and when there is no school. I think mostly she wanted to see what was on his bed as he constantly leaves his dishes there from snacks. I can't say enough good things about Cedar. She was my first foster; she would have been my first dog. She deserves more than we can offer her now with my son having sleep issues which will turn into health issues if not properly addressed and I don't want anything but love to be felt for this dog. She deserves the world. Koopa is house and crate trained. Koopa is a BIG BOY, and often doesn't quite understand that he is stronger than others, but he is doing very well with his training and loves to please his people. Koopa is very happy go lucky and playful with his canine friends, however he can make poor choices when adrenalized and does best with calm proper introductions. Koopa has had an incident with one other dog who was jumping up where he overcorrected, resulting in that dog needing stitches. With his friends, Koopa is fun and playful, and does well with supervised play with other well-balanced dogs. He doesn't always understand his size, and does play rough, so he would be best suited playing with other large breed confident dogs, as he can intimate more nervous or reserved dogs with his big size and big play style. He has shown some prey drive for smaller dogs, and would do best sticking to his bigger companions. We have not cat tested, but at this time with his size and prey drive we are looking for a home without cats. Koopa is a big loveable goofball and loves all people. He does well meeting new people and is a patio favourite hanging out with his foster mom and her girlfriends in public social settings. He has had one incident of grabbing a staff members coat and playing tug of war which caused it to rip - due to this he is looking for a home without kids or with older kids. Koopa is very food motivated and loves training, and has been going to a group training class weekly since his intake. He is doing very well, knows his markers, and continues to work on training daily with the kennel staff! Koopa is playful at the kennel, however he is a lower energy boy and has some hip/elbow issues that prevent him from participating in longer walks. He is looking for a lower energy home that can continue conditioning calmness and give him lots of puzzle toys and satisfy his mental energy. He is currently taking a glucosamine supplement. His perfect home would have power breed experience. Fun facts about Koopa: -This big guy is happy to be with and please his person! He loves to chew on wood and play in the sprinkler. He is hesitant to get into the bath tub but once he is in there, he is happy to get the attention and be scrubbed with soap and water! Koopa loves going for car rides but I have recently noticed that jumping into the back of the Jeep has been a struggle some days. I tend to get him to get his front paws up and lift his back end to help out. -Koopa likes to take shoes out of the closet and bring them to me but will never chew on or destroy. Likes to play with circle shaped foods before he eats. Needs work: Koopa is a big puppy in a full adult sized body! He can be easily overstimulated and always wants to be part of the fun! He would benefit from conditioning calmness and place exercises, as well as working on his crate training and leash skills. High prey drive in adrenalized situations. Koopa's foster mom works hard to manage his environment, facilitate proper introductions with trusted dogs and supervise play with his canine friends. Koopa is also working on puppy nipping - and uses marker language to get the point across that the behavior is unacceptable. Here is what Koopa's foster mom has to say about him: "Koopa is an absolute joy to have around. His goofy, owner pleasing personality makes him great to train and build an outstanding relationship with. He loves to be around people in new and familiar environments and receive all the attention. This big guy doesn't require a lot of exercise to tire him out and is very well at settling down in his crate or on his dog bed for some rest and relaxation. He loves to chew on his wood log or indulge in his licky mat when his Foster Mom makes him one. If I had more room and didn't already have two dogs, Koopa would be my first #fosterfail.
