Story
With a heavy heart, we are looking to find a loving home for our dog, Ozzy. Due to a busy schedule, we are unable to provide him with the attention and care he deserves. Our family dynamics has changed considerably since having a baby and starting a business so caring for two dogs is no longer reasonable for us. We have made the difficult decision to part with one of them. Ozzy is an 8 year old miniature poodle mix. He is a sweet dog who thrives on companionship and long walks in the neighborhood. He is house-trained and loves nothing more than being by your side or lounging like a cat. It pains us to part with him, but we are committed to finding him a new family who can offer him the love and attention he deserves. If you are interested in providing Ozzy with a forever home, please reach out. The provided pictures shows him in all his stages of haircuts and hairstyles. He is currently shaved to prepare for the hot summer.

Story
Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 10/23/2022 Reason for being in rescue: owner release Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Chance is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. Chance arrived in rescue with very itchy skin and ears. He is currently on trial medication for his ears (Claro) and skin (Apoquel). We are not sure if his allergies are seasonal or perennial and will be evaluating how he responds to medication. Weight: 33 lbs Height: 18 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? Yes, 4ft fence or higher is required. What kind of home would be best for me? Chance is looking for a home where he can be the center of attention. He wants to be right in the middle of the action with his people. His high energy and playful spirit is the perfect combination for a great family dog with older, more mature children. Chance can be dog selective, so he will need to be the only dog in his new home. Chance loves to romp and play, so a fenced in yard is a must for this fun-loving guy. What is my personality like? Chance was originally adopted from a shelter, but was returned just one week later. He was adopted a second time, but they decided to take him to a random parking lot and sell him to a stranger. Unfortunately, the person who purchased him in the parking lot recently had a financial hardship and had to make the tough decision to surrender him. Chance was placed in what we thought would be his forever home, but the suburban neighborhood life was not for him. He would prefer to live where his neighbors, and their dogs, are a fair distance away and not walking by his fence. Chance hasn’t had the easiest life, but that isn’t stopping him from finding his fur-ever family to shower with love. Chance is a joyful, affectionate, and sometimes quirky boy. He loves his people with all his heart. He doesn’t care what you do, as long as it is together. He gets very excited when he sees his favorite people, and can’t help but to jump up to give you all the hugs and kisses. He prides himself on being able to fit on any size lap, despite his build, and melting even the coldest of hearts. Snuggle time is his favorite time, so go ahead and block out a nice chunk of your day to accommodate…you won’t regret it. Chance will explore anything and anywhere he can get his nose into. Sometimes this leads to some mischievous counter surfing, he loves food! He isn’t picky about his regular food, or human food that he manages to get his paws on, but he is a bit of a treat snob. He prefers the more natural ingredients and soft textured treats over the typical dog biscuits. He enjoys playing fetch with his people, and loves any toy that makes a crinkly noise. He really enjoys stuffed animals too, but only because having a massacre and throwing the stuffing everywhere is so much fun. Chance is a fan of geese watching, so bonus points for anyone who can take him for walks in a park with lots of geese! Chance sometimes will resource guard his food around other animals, but not around people. He is crate trained and walks well on a leash. He has been reported as well behaved by the groomer, and doesn’t mind having his ears cleaned like most pups. Chance knows a few basic commands, but doesn’t always listen. He would greatly benefit from taking obedience classes, he has not had much structure in his short life. How do I act when I first meet new people? Chance knows how to turn on the charm, and will have everyone wrapped around his paw within seconds. Other tips and tidbits: Chance is estimated to be around 4 years old. We celebrate his birthday 10/14/2018. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. April 23, 2024, 11:41 am

Bentley is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Please note that Bentley does not like to be restrained. At a minimum he needs to wear a muzzle for vet visits and grooming appointments. He may require sedation grooming. Weight: 9 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $349 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Bentley needs a home that won't cage him in - literally and figuratively! Bentley does not like a barrier placed in front of him that will slow or stop his roll. He will tell you what he thinks with barking, lip movement, or a flat-out hissy fit. Figuratively speaking, Bentley knows what he wants and how to get it. If he was a human, he would be able to manipulate any situation to his benefit. Yes, this little man is one smart guy who is at least 2 steps ahead on his daily plans for your life. Bentley needs an owner who can admire, work with his independent nature and clearly show Bentley respect. Bentley is really looking for a human who can give him a sense of security. If he senses a soft human, then the worst of his personality will dominate all day long. What is my personality like? Bentley is the master of ceremonies or he can be a brat. He has the mood swings of a teenager. Mostly he's a happy outgoing little guy. He can be hard-headed and isn't the dog for the faint of heart.  Bentley loves meeting new people and wants nothing more than to be the center of attention. He would love to be the ruler of the household and have things his way. Bentley is good with other dogs, but likes to be a loner at times. He wouldn’t mind being the only dog in the home; he does portray a bit of resource guarding towards other dogs when in his favorite human's lap. Bentley is crate trained, but prefers to sleep on the bed with his humans or in his own bed close by. He doesn’t ask for too much, just a hand (or two, or three) on him at all times. He’s already very spoiled, but wants to be spoiled even more. A home with small children wouldn’t be ideal. Bentley is crate-trained, but we leave the crate door open. When we close the door, Bentley does display his displeasure. He may just snarl his lips or go all the way to rage like the Hulk. Bentley freely puts himself into the crate to rest and feel safe. It's his world when it comes to the crate.  How do I act when I first meet new people? Bentley will rush up and greet you with some barks. If he really likes you, he will show you all of his teeth in a big goofy smile. He will run around and put on a show, then settle down for a couple of pets.  Other tips and tidbits: Bentley was found as a stray so we have absolutely no history on him. Based on his overall health and condition he is estimated at 7 years old. We celebrate hir birthday 7/3/2016. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. Boomer is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm-negative. Weight: 13 lbs Height: 16 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? Yes, Ernie needs a fence of 4 feet or higher!  What kind of home would be best for me? Ernie is a two-year-old active little guy. He enjoys walks but goes at a leisurely pace. Ernie longs for an owner who will let him snuggle up on the bed with you. His foster says Ernie loves to sleep and cuddle there with you. He walks well on a leash, but a little refresher training never hurts. He needs taught his basic commands such as sit, stay, come, down, etc. Ernie does well with other dogs, we are not sure how he does with cats. Ernie would like a home with another dog, a confident dog that he could learn from as he develops into the good boy he is destined to become. He also isn't fond of car rides. Ernie needs a house with a fenced yard as he doesn't like to potty on his walks, he prefers the privacy of his yard for that.  What is my personality like? Ernie was extremely shy before going to his foster home. He arrived in rescue as part of a group of dogs surrendered by a breeder. He'd never known what it meant to be a companion or pet. Everything was new. And then came along a loving, experienced foster home to teach Ernie all about life. While there he has a love for toys and playing. Ernie will need his new adopter to continue providing toys and playtime. Ernie is not destructive in a home. He knows what is appropriate to chew on. He is not nearly as shy now, but he can still be a bit reserved at times. Ernie is not a picky eater. He does not enjoy crates and wants a home that does not crate. He loves to sleep in bed with his foster and his foster asks that his next home let him in bed. Ernie is an angel on a leash and prefers to go on walks often. His foster says that Ernie gains confidence once on the leash! Ernie has grown so much with his foster home and she can't wait for someone to scoop him up! How do I act when I first meet new people? Ernie is a very curious but shy guy upon first meeting. He's a bit like a tea kettle in that regard. Give him a bit of time and he'll warm right up to you. As with the tea, that time spent waiting will be well worth it for this fun little guy. Other tips and tidbits: Ernie's birthday is 10/26/2021. House trained? Special Needs? Brody is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm-negative. Brody is not hypoallergenic and does shed. He is allergic to chicken and must follow a strict diet. Weight: 16 lbs. Height: 14 in. Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed?  No, Brody would enjoy a fence but is not needed.  What kind of home would be best for me? Brody's ideal home is with another dog companion. He is almost always shadowing another dog and has told us many times that he relies on another companion to keep him company. Brody would do fine with older children who are experienced with dogs. He can be timid from time to time, so he needs a calm environment that doesn't overwhelm him. Brody is used to life as a pet and will settle back into a home with ease. He is looking for a home who wants a snuggle buddy. Brody is ideal for retiring couples who simply want a laid-back dog with a lot of love to give. Brody is used to regular public outings and would be great as a casual strolling partner.  What is my personality like? Brody gets along with everything but if you asked him, he would tell you humans are his favorite! Brody adores to be adored! He wants nothing more than pets for the rest of his life. He likes to play, but not constantly. He has mild energy and won't need much in terms of exercise. Brody does well in the car, can walk on a leash (will pull some at first), and knows very basic commands such as sit. Brody has the foundations down and will be eager to learn how to be your pet!   How do I act when I first meet new people? Brody loves people, is approachable, and seemingly always willing to play with people. Be prepared to make many new friends when you take Brody for a walk. This little cutie is still dreaming of a brighter tomorrow, can you make that happen? Other tips and tidbits: Brody is two years old. We celebrate his birthday as 9/7/2021. House trained? Dogs can be house-trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A doghouse trained in my home may not be in yours.
