Story
Hi! My name is Max and I am a 10 year old, 18 lb Miniature Schnauzer. I might be a little guy but boy do I have a big personality! You will see this come out when you scratch my back. I came into rescue with my younger brother Peanut after we lost our Dad and our Mom realized she couldn't care for us anymore. Although I am the older and wiser of the two, Peanut is definitely my enthusiastic sidekick. I look up to him with admiration because he's not just my brother; he's my rock. Together, we've faced many great days and also many challenges, including diabetes. Our journey hasn't always been easy, but through it all, Peanut and I have remained by each other's side, stronger and better because we are together. Despite facing the challenge of diabetes, I'm not letting anything hold me back. My eyes, although they don't see well anymore, are warm and wise, and still sparkle with hope. Managing our diabetes is part of our routine, but it doesn't define us. It's simply part of who we are. Now, we're searching for a forever family who understands that our bond is as important to us as the air we breathe. To the family who welcomes us into their home, you'll receive all the love that knows no bounds. In return, we'll offer you lifelong loyalty, endless cuddles, and an abundance of cherished memories. Max is up to date on vaccinations, 4DX tested, microchipped and neutered. He will be scheduled for a thorough dental exam and cleaning in just a few weeks. We are in the process of applying for a grant that will provide Max and Peanut's family with funding to offset some of the costs associated with their care. In addition, we are working with a pet diabetic supply company that has agreed to send their family a basket filled with all the supplies they will need to get started, free of charge. Max and Peanut would do best in a home with a physically fenced in yard so they can explore as much as their little hearts desire. Adopters must be within a 45 minute radius of Cedar Rapids, IA. Indoor homes only. Applications can be submitted at: https://www.aplanimalrescue.org/dogs
