Story
WE ARE A TX BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application found at haydudeequine.org Winston - You are the bridge between what was and what will be, my pathway to a new life! Sir Winston here but heck, you can just call me Winston. No hoity toity stuck up pup here, just a mellow laid back go with the flow fella that is content to live the simple life...walks in the neighborhood or in the woods, sleeping on a comfy bed, relaxing with good food and good wine, oops I meant a good bowl of water!!! Aah, now that's the good life! I am somewhere around 3 years and am just a very down to earth boy that would love to spend my days doing whatever it is you're doing. I'm super sweet and affectionate and if you're wanting a cuddle pup, I'm that boy. I love getting petted and I'm not picky about where but my most favoritest thing of all times is belly rubs, flopping right over for easy access!! I come in at around 22lbs which is a pawsome size for those cuddles, it's also pretty pawsome for those walk abouts, from neighborhood strolls to those milder hiking trails! You know that saying mi casa es tu casa, well i'm kinda partial to the one that says tu cama(bed) es mi cama. I'm pretty partial to those nice soft beds and if I come up missing you can often find me snoozing on that nice soft comfy bed!!! I really hope you don't mind that I confiscated your bed but can you really blame me, they are wonderful!! I am house trained and crate trained, going right into my crate when needed. I am also very good outside the crate, not getting into stuff I'm not suppose to. I am good with dogs of all sizes and I am starting to get a little more playful with them but I am more comfortable with the ones closer to my own size. I also do just fine with dog savvy cats, mostly just letting the resident cat be. I'm not a high energy boy but do love my walks around the property and am ready for some cuddles on the couch on a snooze on 'my' bed when we're done! I would make a great companion for a family and with my mellowness and charm, I'd probably be a great candidate for a first time pet parent! My coat is of medium length with an over layer of longer hair which will need some minimal grooming to keep me tangle free and looking my finest! I'm longing for a family where I'd be your special boy, your sidekick to tag along in all your life's daily activities. Are you longing for that special BFF to help share your life? Ooh Ooh Ooh, stop scrolling, that's be me!!!!

Story
Took him in from a friend that couldn’t keep him due to new apartment. He is three years old. I already have two big dogs and three kids so I cannot keep him long term. He is a small breed so he does have that temperament but has been around my children and we have curved the nippy behavior but he does chatter a lot. He does bark at strangers but that’s a Schnauzer trait - but I can’t walk him with my big dogs because of this. He bonds closely to a single person. He is very comfortable in his kennel when I work. Eats twice a day. Is not destructive to household items. Hoping to find him a happy long term home.

Story
Meet Oscar, a charming 6-year-old Miniature Schnauzer with a heart full of love. Oscar was surrendered to the shelter due to his barking when he was left crated all day, during his owner's absence. Oscar embodies the true Schnauzer spirit—intelligent, deeply attached to his humans, with a touch of anxiety and a robust vocal range that he doesn't hesitate to use. Oscar's is the ultimate "Velcro" dog who thrives on being close to his people. His ideal forever home is one where he will not be left alone for extended periods often. Cuddles and gentle pets are among Oscar's favorite delights, and he even knows a few tricks. He has done well in his foster home and finds confidence among his foster siblings, who've shown him the calmness of a supportive pack. A home with another gentle dog or two could be the perfect setting for Oscar, offering him companionship and easing his anxiety. Cats and Oscar share a peaceful coexistence; he shows no interest in them. However, warming up to new humans takes a moment—patience, gentle speech, and slow movements are the keys to winning his trust. Given his reactive nature when frightened, a home without small children or frequent visits by little ones would be best for Oscar. HIs new family must be committed to his adjustment period. Additionally, his history of door-dashing requires a securely fenced yard to keep him safe. While Oscar walks with a bit of enthusiasm that can sometimes translate into pulling, especially when other dogs or people are around, it's an area where ongoing patience and training are needed. He's a pro at crate and house training, though the transition to a new home might bring about a few accidents as he adjusts. We are not able to accept applications from apartments, condos, or any attached living situations due to history of barking and shelter surrender. We appreciate your understanding. Oscar is ready to fill his new home with love, loyalty, and a few well-timed barks. If you're looking for a smart, affectionate companion who sticks by your side, Oscar might just be the perfect match for your family. Oscar is neutered, up to date on all vaccines, on heartworm preventative, de-wormed, and microchipped. Oscar’s adoption fee is $350.00. Please go to our website aaprescue.org to learn about our adoption process.
