Vance's basic bio is below, but we maintain more detailed information about each of our animals on our website, which is also always up to date with animals removed immediately once they are adopted. Please visit Vance's page on our site (https://www.muddypawsrescue.org/adoptable?dog=006842) to learn even more about Vance! Additionally, please note that the breed listed for Vance is just our best guess based on the dog's physical features. We cannot make any guarantees about the accuracy of our guesses. PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO VOLUME, WE ARE GENERALLY UNABLE TO RESPOND TO INQUIRIES MADE USING THE 'ASK ABOUT ME' BUTTON. Please reach out to us directly using the contact information on our website: www.muddypawsrescue.org. Vance is a joy to host! He's come so far since arriving in NYC! He is so playful and loves to be nearby his humans. He always wants to be in the mix of things. He enjoys early morning & late evening walks when NYC's noises aren't as loud. He sniffs his way along his walks within our green complex grounds. Vance can be coaxed into sitting outside in the sun and watching life go by, it’s helped him understand what causes which noises. He only has one working eye due to a birth defect but gets by pretty well despite that. He is very comfortable inside, even in an apartment on a noisy intersection. He also does much better with a routine, he is much more comfortable outside when he recognizes the path to get wherever he's going - and thrilled if there is a Pup Cup rewarded along the way. He is so playful with his toys, he prances around the apartment with his squeaky toy balls & plushies. Vance will bring a favorite toy over to you to play with him too. He plays a mean game of indoor fetch! He is crate trained and easily sleeps on his bed inside it until he’s let out for walks or to play - overnight or for periods during the day. Vance does the best full-body stretches when he is let out of the crate! He will also curl up next to you on the couch, when allowed, and will sleep peacefully against you with quiet snores. He will reward you with wet kisses when he’s happy and comfortable. He eats 3x/day with portions split between a slow-feeder & a Kong chew toy. He will eat basically any treat you give him. He is very food motivated and will follow you around the kitchen thinking he will be getting a treat just for being there. He gets a lick mat with peanut butter (his favorite) & puzzle board with treats for extra enrichment time. We go out for walks about every 5-6 hours. His first walk is usually between 630-7AM and the last one is between 11-12PM. He is house-trained but had two accidents when he first arrived. We’ve been using a gentle leader & leash for walks recently to help train him to heel better and to be a little less stressed on the walks. He's been trained to sit, stay, and come. He will do so well in his forever home, with lots of love and encouragement!

Since coming to the suburbs, she has really come out of her shell. Violet has gotten along with all other dogs she has met and would love a brother or sister romp with. She is SUPER food motivated, but will back off when we tell her she can't have ours. Treats and bones are her jam. Give her peanut butter and she'll be your best friend. She is a super smart girl who has been very receptive to training. She loves to learn and use her brain! The longer she has been with us, the lazier she has gotten, taking long naps during the day until she decides it's playtime around 8:00pm. Previous fosters have mentioned that she has lived with kids with disabilities and did well with them. She has been at our place during two family gatherings and everyone just fell in love with her. She is a sweetie who will melt your heart with her puppy eyes and cuddle sessions. You can find more pictures and videos of her by following her on Instagram @adopt.violet

Asha’s owners loved her, but had a farm and she had a taste for the owner's chickens and made the choice to surrender her. Asha is high energy and loves to play, but also loves her snuggles and to be with people. She has tested well with dogs, but due to her prey drive towards chickens, we are hesitant to suggest a home with small animals/cats. Asha is heartworm negative, spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and ready for her new home. This furbaby is located at Animal Harbor in southern middle TN. You can apply at www.animalharbor.org . If approved, we will facilitate a virtual meet and greet and answer any questions you may have. We partner with the awesome transport service company Rescue Riders to safely and professionally move our animals to their loving new homes!

Story
My name is Newton! I am a really really handsome boy. I am 2 years old and honestly, I need someone to take a chance on me. I am a mix of hound, maybe some mountain dog and venturing to say some Aussie. I am longing for a chance to sit on the couch with my humans and get lots of love and playtime. I am a nice boy! I am good with other dogs (we are unsure of cats and because I probably have some herding breed in me, we should stay away from the felines for now). I am playful, I love to walk and have fun outdoor adventures. This is what would work for me in a new home. A fenced in yard would be perfect for me and a single family home would be ideal. My family/person needs to be relatively active - a person that will put a little time into some basic training, take me for walks or hikes or maybe even a mild jog sometimes. Did I tell you I won a race with my caretaker! That's me in the picture at the race! I have not been around young kids so ASCZ is recommending kids 10+. I have always welcomed new faces and may jump with excitement. I will need some housebreaking work when I go into my new home. I am 2 years old so it shouldn't take me long and I am SMART. I am kind of like a big kid who wants to play and have a lot of fun. If you are interested in giving me a chance in a real home setting, please apply here! ASCZ will be very excited to talk to you! https://asecondchanceforziva.org/adopt/adoption-process-application/

Story
Due to an ongoing medical situation in our family and concurrent need to move out of our home and into temporary housing, we are looking to find a new home for our beloved Kira. She is such a sweet soul and just wants to be with people, and our current complex situation is making it difficult to give her the quality of life she deserves. ABOUT KIRA —11 y.o., medium-sized, 45 lbs —Thinks she's a lap dog! Wants to cuddle in your arms —Easygoing - doesn't require a strict schedule for wakeup or meal time —Happy to sleep all day but still has energy for adventures —Currently has freedom to go in & out of the house or be let outside to explore the yard, so would do best with fenced-in yard —Very quiet & doesn't bark at things, does whimper for attention —Can be reactive/picky with which dogs she gets along with, so should be the only dog in the home —Great with our young children but for a new home would do best with children ages 8+ who know not to climb on her —Perfect companion/WFH bud

Story
Bosley is the only boy in our Charles Angels litter. We got a call about 4 puppies that needed help. A young lady had thought she had a rescue lined up and they said they could not take the puppies when she took them to them. She was given our number and after talking to her we could not say no. These poor babies were at a house with no food, they were eating anything they could find. They were also near a road that they would have been killed. Bosley is the sweetest fellow and loves to snuggle. He is doing great with leash training and it would not be difficult to house train him as they are all so smart. He would be great for anyone. We can do a video if you would like too. All of us in the rescue have full time jobs as well as running the rescue so if you are interested in Bosley please go to our website www.doginghampalacerescue.org for our application. Then email the application back to doginghamrescue@aol.com. The fees on our website are very out dated, we are waiting on the lady to update everything. Since covid hit, it is hard to get into vets offices and prices have gone way up. The adoption fee and transport fee is explained below. We are based in the Nashville, TN area and have most of our dogs transported up north. The $450 includes the adoption and transport fee (will have a health certificate too). The transport fee is not refundable if things do not work out.

These pups are in New York, New York too!

Story
CAPE MAY COUNTY, NJ: Whoa, who’s that gorgeous light merle new cutie? It’s the playful and loving young Leonardo! Sweet boy Leonardo is only 1 year old and weighs 60 lbs. He has a rare light merle coloring that makes him stand out, but this good boy also has an outstanding personality! He is friendly and outgoing, greeting everyone he can – and climbing into laps if he can, too! Leonardo is a sweet boy who does happy zoomies and enthusiastically plays with his toys. Poor Leonardo was originally found as a stray and although he suffered from kennel stress in the shelter, he was otherwise a very good boy. With how loving he is and how good at giving kisses, it is no wonder Leonardo steals hearts wherever he goes! Being a young guy, Leonardo has a higher energy level, so he loves to go for walks and play outside. He can be shy around other dogs, but is otherwise dog-friendly and is so excited to begin his second chance at life! Could that life be with you, as a loyal (and handsome) companion? Leonardo is neutered, fully vetted, microchipped and ready to be adopted! Please contact AmsterDog at 917-689-8414 (text ok) or by e-mail at info@amsterdog.org. Apply to adopt dear Leonardo at AmsterDog.org. Thanks for caring about a pet in need!

Theon is a 7 year old plot hound mix & is quite the charmer. This southern gentleman likes to play with toys but doesn’t get too rambunctious. He mostly just wants your love and affection. He prefers a slow & steady life with lots of couch time! Theon survived a Texas kill shelter & will be arriving to the tri-state area soon, in search of his forever home. Story
Berk is available for foster to adopt. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the subject line BERK  if you are interested.  BERK - Catahoula/Lab Mix, 4 months, 30lbs, Neutered, Expected to Be About 60lbs Full Grown  We cannot guarantee breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses, though! Please read everything below and submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org if this pup seems like a good fit for your family :) Home Recommendation Berk is adjusting to the city pretty well! He would do great with staying in the city but of course wouldn't say no to a home in the burbs. Puppies do best in homes that are ready to commit to their needs. Raising a puppy is lots of fun but we won’t beat around the bush: it’s also a lot of work. Puppies can be raised in the city or out of the city. They are very adaptable. Puppies need adopters that are full of energy themselves and can keep up with their new four legged best friend.  Level of Dog Ownership Experience Needed  BERK  is an Intermediate level puppy. This means that ideally the adopter has primary dog ownership of a breed or energy level similar to this pup. At a minimum the adopter should have solid experience doing things like dog sitting, or fostering young dogs or dogs of a similar breed. This means that if you've only dog sat, fostered or owned a senior dog or low energy breed then this isn't the right fit for you. Adopters should have some hands-on experience with taking care of puppies and/or teenagers. Adopters should be comfortable around working breed dogs. Adopters should be ready for everything that entails raising a puppy: lots of training, patience and socialization. All puppies have the potential to develop into the goodest boys and girls but it’s in the hands of the adopter. Lastly, adopters should truly understand that a puppy is going to go through many developmental phases. His Foster Mom Says: "Berk has been an amazing puppy so far! His puppy eyes take cuteness to a whole new level, one’s brown, and the other is a mix of brown and blue, perfectly complementing his brown leopard coat, making him quite a catch! He is a bit of a goofball with a warm heart. Loves to get pets from his humans and will follow us around the apartment like our little shadow. He plays with his toys with us and by himself. He is funny and will bring his toy to bed when he is done playing with us. He sometimes chews on the furniture or floor but will stop if redirected with a toy or bone. Berk is still figuring out the whole bathroom-on-cement thing – we live in Stuytown, and for now, he prefers going on the leaves in the plant beds. Within a couple of days Berk has caught on to potty training and is down to barely any accidents in the house. When he needs to go out he rings the bell hanging at the front door and so far it has been working. He’s a little shy about being left alone, pacing and letting out howls when we step out, but otherwise, when we are home he’s very quiet. I’m confident he will improve with being home alone in no time! He’s a good sleeper, usually sleeps through the night and squeezes in a few naps during the day. He’s been a great coworker the last couple of days. Overall he’s a 10/10 puppy and would recommend to most people! He is also doing ok in the city and taking everything in like a champ! " Energy Level  Higher - - As an adult this pup will need a solid continuous 90 minute walk (at a minimum) in addition to potty breaks/relief walks/short walks. Working breed dogs were bred to do jobs so it’s super important to make sure that they get the right level of exercise and stimulation daily. Working breed dogs need more than just simply being “let out in the yard”.  So far his foster parent says that Berk is very fun outdoors but knows how to mellow out indoors.  Personality        Life of the Party - - Wants to be friends with everyone who walks by, super social butterfly, loves anyone who will stop to say hello. Cuddle Factor Medium  - - Likes to snuggle when he is in the mood but will go back to his own space.  Potty Trained Yes -  Berk is having few or no accidents - knows to go outside and rings a bell when he needs to use the bathroom. Prefers to do his business on leaves mulch or grass.  Comfy With Strangers? Yes - - Puppies are super friendly with new people, they love to make friends. It’s super important to socialize puppies in a safe controlled environment.  Social With Children?  (ALWAYS requires supervision) Yes - - Puppies are okay for homes with respectful kids aged 6 and up. Puppies are not a good match for kids younger than 6 years old as puppies go through teething phases: which can be very intense and result in little kids getting hurt.  Social With Dogs? Yes - - Puppies have all the potential to be extremely social with other dogs. Socializing puppies with other puppies and adult dogs is a huge part of raising a puppy. It should be done in a safe and controlled environment: puppy classes and playdates with trusted dogs are a great way to do this.  Social With Cats? Yes - - Fun fact all puppies have the potential to be best friends with a cat. It’s on the adopter to help set boundaries with the cat (like not being able to chase the cat). The cat should also be a friendly cat as a puppy is not a great idea for a grumpy cat.  Mouthy Play   Medium to Higher - - He sometimes will escalate to chewing hands during play time but hasn’t been too bad. He will try and eat pretty much anything - rugs, furniture, the floor lol. But he will listen to us and stop chewing if we present him a toy or bone. He is working on being fully crate trained so he can be left home alone. This is very common for his age. Berk does respond to correction.  Leash Manners Will Need to Learn This Skill - - Getting the hang of it! .Will be super important to work on leash manners from the get go. Many trainers recommend starting to train the command heel (best way to prevent pulling on the leash) from an early age.  Jumping Manners Will Need to Learn This Skill - - Puppies are prone to jumping up on people when they are excited. It’s important to work on this behavior from an early age. It’s cute when they are little but not so much when they are full grown. Good habits start early. Separation Anxiety Medium - -  Berk is learning how to be home alone. He doesn't cry when his people leave but he will settle down. On par for his age!  Crate Trained - - Getting used to his crate. Doing well with crate training.  Medical Status Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella Vaccine, and Rabies Vaccine.  How Did They End Up With Social Tees Animal Rescue? This pup was originally left anonymously at a high volume shelter in TN where they were at risk of euthanasia. Our rescue partner based down there pulled this dog, had the initial veterinary care done, and transported them to NYC. While in Social Tees care, they are kept in attentive and loving foster homes. Many dogs are rescued from the south because the pet overpopulation problem there is much worse than it is in the northern parts of the country. This seems to be because far fewer people are having their pets spayed/neutered in the south, the climate is warmer so animals are reproducing year round, and the human population in these areas is less dense so there aren't enough people to adopt them. In NYC and the surrounding area, we have a large human population, which in turn means the animals find forever homes at a higher rate up here. :)  PLEASE NOTE: This animal is not at the Social Tees office — all of our dogs and cats are in foster homes while they wait to find their forever families. :) If you’d like to apply to adopt this pet, please complete an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Because we are a small team and receive hundreds of applications each week, we are unable to respond to every application and every inquiry email, but we do our best. Please have patience! If your application is approved, you will for sure hear from us. If you have questions, please take a look at the Adoption and Fostering FAQs etc. on our website as all common questions are answered there. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we work to save these innocent lives!!  LEARN MORE ABOUT US: socialteesnyc.org; Instagram via @socialteesnyc; Facebook.com/socialteesanimalrescue
