Story
FOSTER-TO-ADOPT HOMES NEEDED!! ***Please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form*** We would love to welcome Toast into the Fetch + Releash family July 7th (subject to change). In order for Toast to come into our care, we need a committed family. As a foster-to-adopt family, you'll be expected to take him home on his arrival date. You will then have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found. Each bio was created by our rescue partners based on their interactions with the dogs. Fetch + Releash has a full disclosure policy however we cannot guarantee a dog against parasites or diseases, nor can we guarantee a dog's nature/behaviour. Many of these dogs are coming directly from the shelter and so you should expect there to be a transitional period. Be prepared to deal with common issues like potty training, leash walking, and socialization. Cat and kid safety assessments are often based on their personality and not necessarily on actual interactions. Where possible, the majority of vetting will be completed prior to coming to Canada, however, foster-to-adopt families may be required to travel to our partner vet in Mississauga, ON for further vet care. During your foster-to-adopt trial, you'll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have. Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit. Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Toast / Male / 1 year / 55 pounds / Mixed Breed / Great Family Dog / Adventure Seeker / from Tennessee Meet Toast, a charming pup ready for a new chapter after being rescued from the local high-kill shelter in rural Tennessee. This handsome boy exudes a zest for life and adores attention from both humans and canine companions. With a love for treats and a high trainability factor, Toast is a joy to be around. While he's friendly with fellow dogs and enjoys their company, Toast would do best with a dog that can match his energy. Toast is also known to be vocal at times when seeking attention or trying to express himself. Maybe you are looking for a singing partner? A home with a yard would be perfect for this spirited boy, and due to his exuberance, a family with kids aged 10 years and older would be an ideal match. Toast’s forever family will need to provide him with mental enrichment combined with intentional physical exercise, like walks, tug-of-war, and fetch. This will be key to keeping Toast both physically and mentally happy. He will require at least 2-3 walks per day no shorter than 30 minutes. His new family will need to be committed to working on his training from the basics and beyond as his past is unknown. His eager to please attitude and love for treats will be the perfect match for training success. Toast has an immense love for toys or just about anything he can play with. He loves to keep his toys stashed in his dog house for safekeeping. It will be important to keep an eye on things like shoes as they may be something he grows fond of. Although he may steal them for safe keeping he is not known to be destructive to even the most plush of toys, he truly intends to keep all his prized possessions well cared for. Toast will thrive on routine, and his forever family will be fortunate to welcome such a delightful charmer into their lives. If you're ready for a loving, playful, and trainable companion, Toast is eagerly waiting to bring joy and laughter to your home. Don't miss the chance to make Toast a cherished member of your family! Toast tested positive for Ehrlichia which is a common tick-borne disease that stays in the bloodstream for many years. This has been treated, and moving forward regular yearly bloodwork would be recommended. Although this should not cause any issues moving forward, it's important that if Toast required surgery or a dental, pre-operative blood work (CBC+Platelet count) are completed beforehand. If you’re interested in fostering with the intention of adopting, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Toast's adoption fee is $850.
