Story
This beautiful girl named Bright Star, needs a do-over for her Elkhound life and Critter Cavalry Rescue is determined to find that special Elkie loving person or family! This young girl is only 3 years old and she is too timid and just a little too heavy at 68lbs,  to play the way a young dog should.  At her age she should be romping and running and delighting in life on a Spring or Summer day.  Bright Star is a pure bred Norwegian Elkhound who  was removed from a breeding farm in rural Tennessee.  Her formative years were spent living in an outdoor kennel without any socialization, playtime or the comfort of a heated or cooled environment inside. She is beginning to enjoy her freedom at her foster home in New England She’s moving around with greater agility and is enjoying barking along with her foster siblings.  She is learning to be an effective Guardian of the yard when she thinks intruders might be lurking!  An important job to a Norwegian Elkhound.   When she’s relaxed, Bright Star displays that wonderful Elkie smile and tightly curled up tail. She is just an easy girl to include in the pack of dogs that the foster mom owns, of which one is an Elkie who was rescued from the same breeder farm by Critter Cavalry Rescue.   She gets along well with other dogs and is beginning to show interest in people, as she has been standoffish the first week of escaping the breeder farm.   She is a curious girl who is gradually braving exploration her new surroundings and she seems to have house-trained herself. Bravo to this smart girl.  We have delighted in watching Bright Star  come out of her shell and she continues to do so, it should be an amazing experience for whomever adopts her.  It will be important to continue to monitor her food intake to help this stunning angel enjoy the life she deserves and achieve a more normal weight!!  If you are interested in making this girl’s dream come true with a forever home and heart to love her, please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com  PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comApril 23, 2024, 4:30 pm

Story
Introducing Ragdoll, the spirited 6-and-a-half-year-old Norwegian Elkhound who is ready to leave her breeder farm behind and embark on a new chapter of her life. Born and raised in the confines of a breeding facility, Ragdoll's journey will hopefully soon take a heartwarming turn as she finds her forever home.  Despite her humble beginnings, Ragdoll possesses a heart brimming with warmth and an infectious zest for life. With a friendly disposition and a natural affinity for companionship, she effortlessly befriends both humans and fellow canines alike. Mischievous by nature, Ragdoll's playful antics add a dash of charm to every interaction, ensuring laughter and joy are never far behind. However, transitioning from the confines of an outdoor breeding facility to the comforts of a loving home will undoubtedly require patience and understanding. Ragdoll's new family will need to allow her the time and space to acclimate to her new surroundings, as the indoor life will present a novel experience for her. Yet, with the right guidance and tender care, Ragdoll is poised to flourish in her newfound environment, blossoming into a cherished member of the family.   We have brought over 100 Elkhounds from the breeding farm over the past year and all have blossomed in quick timing and are flourishing under the love and kindness of the devoted families who own them. With her sweet affection and endearing quirks, Ragdoll promises to bring boundless love and delight to whoever opens their heart and home to her. Story
Gregarious Gail, as we call her, is just 21 months old and is a true beauty of a pure bred Norwegian Elkhound.  She possesses all the wonderful traits through and through. Gail is a special girl because as a puppy she had an infection that caused her to lose her tail and two toes on her back feet.  She is so cute with the shorter tail and it hasn't slowed her down a bit. In fact, Gail is a very active and athletic lady who can jump, run, spin and play.  Gail hasn't had much of a start in life and she deserves much more.   She is outgoing and very sweet and just a touch shy at first when she meets new people and new situations.  Critter Cavalry rescued her an overwhelmed Elkhound breeder and has promised this loving, loyal and friendly girl, to give her a family that will recognize her special bright spirit.  She gets along well with others and goodness just look at that beautiful face. She is going to make some person or family so very happy.  This rare breed is known for being extremely loyal, intelligent and sensitive.    If you are interested in owning a breed that is fast becoming rare in the U.S. then please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com   She is ready for a fresh new start to her young life. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 23, 2024, 4:30 pm

Story
We are offering the most regal and unusual Norwegian Elkhound female, named Svart (meaning dark in color) but we prefer to call her “Cleopatra”.  This gorgeous girl is the leader and Queen of them all.  Regal and fully confident, she is everything we know Cleopatra to have been back in her days of making history.  She is the epitome of a queen that is full of reigning power in her breeding pack.  This 5.5 year old girl is gorgeous and is 65 pounds.  Undeniably in charge , Cleopatra Svart insists on being the focus of your family’s life.  She can live in peace with other dogs but we don't think she would be good at dog parks with dogs rushing up to her face with no introduction. She is happy with all the humans she meets and she is part of a large pack of breeder dogs that her owner is asking Critter Cavalry Rescue to help place. She is downsizing and getting out of the breeding business.  Our Svart AKA Cleopatra, needs a place of her own inside a home with her dog bed throne to await her.  If you are interested in this regal queen, please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com She is ready for YOU to walk her down the red carpet to her new home. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.April 23, 2024, 4:30 pm
