Story
We thought we were doing a nice thing fora young man that recently lost both parents in the last few years he had Togo to Florida to sell a car and he asked if we could watch his dog, which he told us was his mother’s dog and that he would be gone only two weeks , well this was December 31,2023 it’s not April 22, 2022 and nothing except he is taking a job out of the country for 4 months . We have our own dog and things going on around our home so we need this dog gone.

Story
MEET BODIE the PEKINGESE!!! North New Jersey Bodie is a 2 year old, 13 lb. male tan with black mask Pekingese. This little guy is very sweet and pretty chill (typical Peke). He loves to lounge around and sun himself by the window. He gets attached quickly to his person and he enjoys playing with toys, chewing on nylabones, and playing with other pups his size. He is a good listener and understands the routine. He was bought as a puppy into a home with “many” young children which ultimately resulted in bite incidents breaking the skin. He arrived at the shelter scared to death of almost everything. Once in our rescue, he has been doing well learning to trust and is very affectionate. He will need a loving and emotionally stable home. He does not do well in a volatile, angry, or unstable environment. Given his bite history (likely not his fault), Bodie needs a kid-free home (no young kids living or visiting—teenagers and up ok) where he can continue to thrive. Ironically, now that Bodie is in a loving and consistent environment, he loves everyone he meets including the UPS guy, the Fedex guy, the mailman, all visitors to his foster home including young people. He just loves people and wants to say hello to everyone. God only knows what he went through in his former life. He will likely continue to blossom in his new home as he matures and continues to learn to trust. Bodie has been brought UTD, neutered, he is HW and Lyme negative, dewormed, chipped, and housebroken. He did well at the vet and allowed all handling with no problem. He has been to our groomer a few times and has done very well and has even learned to trust having his front paws trimmed. Bodie can be an “only dog” since he prefers people over dogs but he would do well with another doggie his size and energy level (and other Pekes of course). He happens to do extremely well with Spaulding who is also for adoption. Breed experience is preferred and will be prioritized (or similar brachycephalic breeds). Adoption donation is $550. TO BE CONSIDERED, PLEASE FILL OUT OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION We only process complete applications and providing false information immediately disqualifies you from adopting. https://gingerbreaddogs.org/adopt-overview/adoption-application/ Please follow our Facebook page to see new dogs as they arrive and to keep up on the daily shenanigans: https://www.facebook.com/gingerbreaddogs ABOUT OUR PROCESS: WE ONLY CONTACT APPLICANTS WITH WHOM WE WANT TO MOVE FORWARD. We typically get in touch within 24-48 hours, but it may take up to 10 days. Please watch your email and answer your phone (from 201 area code) after you submit an application. Unfortunately, we do not have the manpower to reply to all applicants. We also do not have the manpower to accept phone calls. Everything we know about the dog is posted above. Our adoption process is on our website. You can see more about our daily operations on our Facebook page. PLEASE give your vet office permission to speak with rescues if you are applying to adopt from any rescue. Ask them to mark your file. If they will not speak with us, we will move on to the next application and you will not be considered. We consider out-of-area adoptions on a case-by-case basis. All meet & greets and adoptions are held in north New Jersey, and we do not transport our pups. You must come to NJ. We also do not “hold” dogs. It is “first qualified, first come” and our expectation is you will move quickly to conduct the meet & greet if you are approved. An approved application does not guarantee adoption of any dog from our rescue, and we reserve the right to deny adoption at any point during the process.

PLEASE READ BELOW FOR OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION LINK MEET SPAULDING the PEKINGESE!!! North New Jersey Spaulding is a 2 year old, 18 lb. male black and white parti CKC Registered Pekingese with the coolest tail that flips black-white from side to side! This little guy is SUPER sweet and he LOVES being with his people and giving hugs and kissies. He is VERY playful with toys and other pups. He can be rambunctious and would do well with a furry playmate of equal size and strength. He is a very good listener and knows some commands. He is housebroken and looks to his person for guidance. He knows the routine in the home well. He was bought as a puppy into a home with three young children. Unfortunately, now that he is bigger he does not appreciate being man-handled by small kids and he has bite history with the kids in the home (not his fault!). Thus, Spaulding needs a kid-free home (no young kids living or visiting--teenagers and up ok) where he can continue to thrive. In his foster home he has been the sweetest most well-behaved little guy. He was wonderful at the groomer and at the vet. He loves everyone he meets and promptly jumps in your lap and gives kissies. Spaulding has been brought UTD, neutered, chipped, dewormed, he is HW and Lyme negative, had allergy testing, and is housebroken. He also knows how to use potty pads if they are available. He is allergic to chicken and doing well on a lamb-based kibble. He will go home with a bag of his kibble. Given his high energy level, a fenced in yard is required as is another fur sibling he can romp with. He really enjoys playing and hanging out with his fur friends and does well having another doggie friend (or more) to hang out with. He happens to do extremely well with Bodie who is also for adoption. Breed experience is preferred and will be prioritized (or similar brachycephalic breeds). Adoption donation is $550. Story
PLEASE READ BELOW FOR OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION LINK NORTH NEW JERSEY Teddy is the sweetest little cream and tan Pekingese boy. He is 13 pounds and probably around 8 years old. He is extremely affectionate with his humans and loves to give you kisses! He is a super chill guy that loves to lounge around and sun himself by the window. Teddy lived with Harvey (also available, see pic above) and they can go home together or individually. Teddy is pretty low key and just does his own thing most of the day. He does get excited and does a little happy dance when he comes back into the house after roaming around the yard. He can be an only dog since his humans are his priority but he can live with other small breed pups (and other Pekes of course). He loves going for walks or would love a fenced in yard to meander around. Tweenagers and up please. Extensive vetting has been done and he is in excellent health. He does have dry eyes and very early glaucoma so he is on eye drops for both. He also arrived at the shelter with horrible ear infections that we have been treating. Due to the lack of care of his eyes and ears, his vision and hearing are not perfect but he gets around just fine and they seem to be improving now that he is getting what he needs medically. Housebroken UTD Dental Neutered HW negative Blood work Xrays Eye tests Dry eye – Tacrolimus eye drops Glaucoma – Dorzolamide eye drops Adoption donation: $450 TO BE CONSIDERED, PLEASE FILL OUT OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION We only process complete applications and providing false information immediately disqualifies you from adopting. https://gingerbreaddogs.org/adopt-overview/adoption-application/ Please follow our Facebook page to see new dogs as they arrive and to keep up on the daily shenanigans: https://www.facebook.com/gingerbreaddogs ABOUT OUR PROCESS: WE ONLY CONTACT APPLICANTS WITH WHOM WE WANT TO MOVE FORWARD.
