Story
Henry is a 2-3 yr old, 11 lb. Pekingese, perhaps mixed with Pomeranian.  He was picked up as a stray by concerned citizens who kept seeing him in the road and then turned over to an area animal shelter, but no one ever came to claim him. We cannot figure out why because he is a darling dog! Henry walks nicely on a leash and appears housetrained. He likes to be where his person is and will follow you from room to room. He will get underfoot and is a tripping hazard, so you have to look before you move. Henry is young and quick, so he is best suited for a similar adopter.  Henry gets along with other small dogs and will wrestle and play with one who wants to do the same. If there is another dog in the home, it should weigh 16 lbs or less. WE REQUIRE AN ALL-ADULT HOME (NO YOUNG CHILDREN) WITH A SECURELY FENCED YARD FOR Henry'S ADOPTIVE HOME.  The secure fence must be 4ft or higher, with gaps no greater than 2 inches, and attached to the home. An invisible fence, enclosed patio, terrace or deck, temporary fencing, dog pens or dog lots or community shared fencing (dog park) are NOT considered secure fencing. If your fencing has "puppy pickets" (or is supplemented with garden fencing) it needs to be at least 36 inches high from the ground up AT THE LOWEST POINT.  No exceptions.   We are an all-volunteer organization, and in addition to saving dogs, we have other responsibilities, so we appreciate your patience and understanding during this process. Response time can take up to 5 business. Please inquire only if you are willing to come to Greensboro, North Carolina to meet the dog after we schedule your home visit. We do not ship dogs or put them on transports. Veterinary Care: All Hart-2-Heart Rescue foster dogs are spayed/neutered, current on heartworm prevention, parvo/distemper, bordetella, and rabies vaccines and are professionally groomed. As needed, our foster dogs have teeth cleanings, extractions, bloodwork and other diagnostic testing. Adoption Fee:  $500April 23, 2024, 10:28 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Meet Penny, the charming Pekingese with  a personality as unique as her fluffy coat. At first glance, Penny might seem like a bit of a mystery—sweet and affectionate, yet adamant about her personal space. Penny is a true sweetheart, captivating everyone around her with her gentle demeanor. Penny has a knack for making you feel special, often choosing to sit at your feet and bask in your company. However, there's a catch: Touching is generally off-limits and she'll run away. Despite her no-touch policy, Penny is an absolute delight to have around. She adores her collection of toys and can spend hours playing and entertaining herself. Dog beds are her sanctuary, and you'll often find her nestled comfortably, surveying her kingdom with a regal air. A fenced-in yard is a must for Penny, providing her with the freedom to explore and enjoy the outdoors without compromising her sense of security. It's in the open air that you'll witness a different side of Penny—the independent spirit who revels in the joy of a well-fenced kingdom. Penny has a soft spot for canine companionship and would thrive in a home with another dog. The presence of a furry friend brings out the best in her, creating a dynamic where she can share her space without the need for physical touch. In Penny's world, love may be expressed in unconventional ways, but the warmth and charm she brings to your life are undeniable. Embrace the mystery, respect her boundaries, and you'll find an enchanting companion in Penny, the Pekingese with a heart that's both sweet and untouchable. Just remember, no kids – Penny is looking for a peaceful, adult-only haven to call her own.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 23, 2024, 9:01 pm

Story
Rocky is a handsome, 7 yr old, 14 lb. Pekingese.  Rocky is an attentive, happy, and playful Pekingese who just happens to be mostly blind. He can see some shadows and movement but must be leashed-walked so he doesn’t bump into anything.  Rocky is very happy and learns to navigate his surroundings quickly.  This little guy’s favorite activities are breakfast, dinner, walking 2-4 times/day, playing with toys, and of course TREATS! He has an uncanny sense of finding the toy baskets in the house.  He absolutely LOVES to ride in the car (seat-belted in of course). Rocky’s ideal home is quiet, with an experienced Peke owner, and an only dog. His owner will be a special person who understands his disability and Peke disposition and is willing to work with him.  Like most Pekes, he takes a while to warm up to new people but once you earn his trust, you are his person!  He must be monitored every 6 months to ensure he hasn’t developed glaucoma. Rocky is on inexpensive anti-inflammatory drops (Neo-Poly-Dex) for his right eye.  Rocky is a good patient at the vet. The adoption range for this dog is limited to NC, SC, VA and East TN. If you are interested in adopting this dog, contact h2hadoptions@gmail.com. There is an application process and adoption fee. WE REQUIRE AN ALL-ADULT HOME (NO CHILDREN OR GRANDCHILDREN UNDER 18YO). We are an all-volunteer organization, and in addition to saving dogs, we have other responsibilities, so we appreciate your patience and understanding during this process. Response time can take up to 5 business. Please inquire only if you are willing to come to Greensboro, NC to meet the dog after we schedule your home visit. As needed, our foster dogs have teeth cleanings, extractions, bloodwork and other diagnostic testing. Adoption fee is $400 (which includes a couple of bottles of eye drops, which he is very good about taking, and one month of heartworm prevention).April 23, 2024, 10:28 pm

Story
Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 6/2/2022 Reason for being in rescue: Tucker was surrendered by his owners to a SC shelter. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled him from the shelter. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Tucker is neutered and up to date on vaccines. Tucker has heartworms and was treated pre-rescue. Radiographs of the heart were taken by our veterinarian and will be provided to adopters. The radiographs show clear lungs and only mild heart enlargement on the right side from the worms. No additional treatment is recommended and he is ready for adoption. Weight: 36 lbs Height: 14 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $249 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Tucker is such a cool, happy dude. He is equal parts mellow and playful, and looking for a home that is okay with both. Tucker would be best as the only dog. He is picky about his friends and will be the best as your only dog. Tucker does not appreciate high energy dogs or dogs getting into his face. Because of this he is not well suited for visiting dog parks. He cannot live with cats (indoor or outdoor). He'd be fine in an apartment or condo, or living in a home with a fenced yard. We do not know if Tucker has ever lived with children, but he has a demeanor well suited for children over 5. What is my personality like? Tucker is a mellow mild energy boy with a heart of gold!! He is such a lover boy, just happy to be with his human. He will accept all the pets and kisses he can get. He is good with other dogs as long as the aren't all in his face and respect his personal space. Absolutely no cats!! Tucker is clean in his crate and goes in easily after a treat. He doesn't know any commands but is food motivated and not a picky eater. A yard is not required for Tucker, he's so mellow, two walks around the neighborhood and maximum cuddles on the couch should suffice. He has been showing some resource guarding mainly to food and would need fed separately or in a crate to set him up for success. Tucker could go to many different types of homes, could live as an apartment dog even. He is polite on a leash and enjoys sniffing around. Tucker is a wonderful boy who appreciates a mellow lifestyle. If you're looking for a chill buddy, he is a great companion! How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly Other tips and tidbits: Tucker is estimated at 4 years old. We celebrate his birthday as 2/14/2018. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. April 23, 2024, 7:28 pm
