Story
I need an adopter or foster asap, as my foster family is leaving the country on the 16th and I have nowhere to go, but back to the streets, which is aa death sentence. Hello everybody! I’m CHICKY (Chica) Here is some info about me:                                 Breed: Catahoula mix                                                                Age: 1 year                                                                       Gender: female                         Weight: 38 lbsHeight: just under 20 inHighlights: intelligent, kind, polite and timid         I come from Mexico, but my Spanish isn't that great. I’m not really trying to learn, because I am really planning on working on my English, so I can live with you happily ever after! When I was found on the streets of Mexico, I was nearly starving to death. Thankfully my rescuers took me in. Now they have to leave, so I need a home of my own or another foster, so I won't be put back on the streets. Being one, sweet, kind, and timid girl with big, beautiful eyes (as you can see), I am extremely friendly with adults and even with other dogs. My rescuer has stated I am good with kids too (but no video proof, however). I do sometimes get intimidated with bigger dogs, but I acclimate to my surroundings extremely fast. Loud noises can throw me off, but I'm sure once acclimated to my new surroundings, that will diminish. My favorite pastime is to run along the beach and chase and play with the birds along the shore. I also just recently learned how to swim, and I love it! Because I’m technically still a puppy, I love to chew on things, so I have a huge stash of chew toys to satisfy my chew needs. My foster parents take me on a 2 mile walk every morning. I am very active and need a large area to run and play. I also ride well in the car. I really love doing my activities with my people. I’m really hoping to continue my adventures in Canada with you! Energy level: highI get along with:Other dogs: yesCats: unknownKids: unknown, though rescuer states yes, no video proof Prey drive: I sometimes like to chase and play with the birds along the shore in the beach. I only want to play with them though. My adopter should be prepared to use a trainer should any issues arise.Fears: Occasionally intimidated by bigger dogs, not a fan of loud noises. My adopter needs to be patient with me and my new environment and with my transition.Training: house & some leash workLeash training: I walk well on leash. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: I am house trained. Please help me learn where to go in my new home. Health notes:I am spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. My adoption fee is 800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a fight volunteer directly to Vancouver. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.  Please note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.  Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in  helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver some will find flights through Toronto or  helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs.   The size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.   Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live.   Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. [MID-EAST DOGS] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.  ##2008135##
