Good With Kids: Tolerant of kids ages 4-8, prefers older kids Good With Other Dogs: Yes. Plays rough. Good With Cats: No Housetrained: Yes Crate Trained: Yes Walks Nicely On A Leash: Working on it Knows Basic Commands: Yes Energy Level (Couch Potato, Moderate or High): Moderate Special Needs: **See Below Physical Fence: Preferred. Follows her Plott Hound nose. Favorite Toy / Activity: Walks for sniffs, snuggling and hard chew toys. Arrival story: Came to Waggin’ Tails from Detroit Animal Control in July 2022. Adopted but home just not the right fit. Approximate age / Weight: 2-3 yrs old / 38 lbs. Personality: Our petite southern belle is a sweet, shy-at-first, affectionate girl. Your lap will be her comfy haven at night when its time to relax and you will not be able to resist rubbing her silky long, ears. Walks with Savvy are an interactive experience. She follows that hound nose of hers, walking fast then hard stop to the next thing scent that captures her attention. As a scent hound, this girl would love humans in her life that provide some opportunity to exercise her innate sense-abilities with treks to new places for sniffs, backyard games, etc. Savannah is treat-motivated and would love to learn new things. As much of a busy-body that Savvy is out in the yard and on walks she is a gentler soul in the home and when guests come over. She warms up quickly, though. She’s a smart cookie and was quick to house and crate train, is good at the vet’s office, has good house manners, knows basic cues, easily redirects when baying (that hound dog awrroooo) and comes when called. Savannah is very responsive to praise and positive reinforcement and would thrive on routine with some added scent-work surprises in her life. ** Savannah is missing most of the fur on her left flank, likely from some type of scalding or burn. While not painful now and healed nicely, sunblock is necessary for the pink areas of the skin if she’ll be outdoors for a period of time. Forever Home: Savannah would thrive with a family/person who likes to go for walks and explore. She'd enjoy a chance to engage with dog friends or have a sibling who likes to play hard. She equally likes humans and dogs and while she has met children, she removes herself from interacting with small kids with their unpredictable hugs and squeezes. A physical fence is preferred for Savannah to help satisfy her serious sniffing instincts safely but a situation where she'd get plenty of walks would work, too. Story
Lucy Lou is a sweet 6 year old Plott Hound mix who arrived to us as a stray. Sadly we've already found out why as this girl is a bit of a houdini! It's not unlike a hound dog to want to explore and adventure! She will need a family with a dedicated yard and to be monitored while outdoors. She's a friendly and outgoing dog. Lucy should meet other dogs before adoption, a meet and greet can be set up. She can be tested with cats.Adoption Fee: $200, includes spay/neuter, and all veterinary care as needed. If interested in meeting, please stop in during open hours, Tuesday-Saturday 12-5:00 pm. We recommend leaving your dog home for the first meet.Photo Credit: Tiffany Hamilton Photography, LLC

Story
**Chase is in a foster home and not at the kennel** Sup! I’m Chase! I’m some kind of Sheperd/Plott Hound with maybe some Doberman in there too. I’m 2 years old and weigh about 80 Lbs. I am a little bit of everything wrapped into one. I have the brains, the brawn, and I love making buddies(human and animals). I mean seriously what more could you possibly want in a partner in life? I’m always working on my “fitness”. You can watch me “fit-this” entire bowl of food in my face in about 5 seconds flat! Mmm! Ok ok I do like to pump some iron in between meal time too. Call me the CrossFit Canine! But hey, don't let my rough and tough exterior fool you. I'm as gentle and as friendly as can be. I just will let out a good bark when we first meet. It may seem intimidating but realistically I’m just making sure you noticed that I’m standing here. Bring me a treat and we can move past all these awkward introductions and work on our friendship. I have enjoyed the company of the dogs and cats that I have met. All we need to do is meet up so we can form our own pack. I’d love some furry companions to live with. I don’t mind a good stroll around the neighborhood but I really enjoy a good romp in the yard. A fenced in yard would be phenomenal for me. Car rides are a blast for me. My foster dad takes me with him often on job sites. He’s usually jamming to county songs while he drives. I’m a little indifferent so I we can listen to whatever you want. I wonder what kind of music that will be? I’m extremely intelligent! I know plenty of commands. I think I am ready to start learning some tricks like you see the movie dogs do. I bet you I’d have those tricks down pat in no time at all. So, if you're looking for a playful, smart, and gentle buddy, then look no further. I promise to fill your life with laughter and love. I am looking for a home with some dog experience in which everyone is over 13 years old and older. I’m a lot of dog and need a bigger person to understand my puppy playful antics. If you are interested in adopting me and are at least 21 years old, please fill out an application at k9stray.com and my foster dad will be in touch. I hope to meet you soon! ~Chase *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying.*
