Story
Unfortunately, my boyfriend and I are moving in with my parents and they are very allergic and don’t have much space. Arlo is a sweetheart and a true friend to cats and other pets, making any home brighter. While it’s a bittersweet decision, we believe there’s a perfect family out there with a spacious heart and backyard ready to embrace our furry companion. He loves to run, be outdoors and explore but he’s also a huge cuddler and will be your most loyal companion 🥹🏡❤️

Story
Meet Biscuit. This sweet little guy was seen running as a stray in a mobile home park for nearly a year, wandering from home to home looking for food and shelter. Apparently, his family moved away and just left him behind to fend for himself. He was known in the community and was often seen tied up outside near a local bus stop when he was with his previous owners…so them leaving him behind was a blessing in disguise. Thankfully someone finally reached out for help and that’s how Biscuit made his way to the rescue. Biscuit has been in his NC foster home for three weeks living with 3 adults, a teen son, three large dogs, one puppy, and a cat. He is relaxed around the other dogs, ignores the cat, and was quickly accepted by the pack. Like most dogs, he needs a little time to get his bearings but he loves to snuggle and is a natural lap dog. Biscuit is housetrained, crate trained, and walks pretty well on a leash. Overall, Biscuit is a laidback, go-with-the-flow dog who attaches quickly and wants to be around you. At first, he was a little hand-shy when you went to pet him and would tuck his tail like someone might hit him. But now, he wags his tail and welcomes affection. He will still bark at random noises in a new environment, but as he settles that improves. He needs a little time to trust in new places but acclimates well and is very accepting. We checked in with his foster mom, Jenn, for an update (4/1/24): “Biscuit is an instant magnet for laps no matter who you are. When a stranger walks in the door, he may bark for a minute, wag his tail, and seem a little shy, but the second they sit on the couch he is their new best friend. It took him zero seconds to sit on our lap or wag his tail, but it took over a week before he would wag his tail while we were petting him or to play with Kira. Now they will race around the house or yard and then he will be wiped out. He is housebroken and has had zero accidents in the house. He is a little finicky about pooping - he doesn’t go right away in the morning but will go a while later after he eats and we take a walk. He will go potty on or off leash. He’s been sleeping in a pen with our other foster. If we only had Biscuit, I would have let him be free roam in our house. He doesn’t get into anything, doesn’t chew on anything, and would have easily slept in bed with us or on the couch without any troubles. Overall he is a really easy dog who just wants to cuddle and be with you. I have loved watching him blossom and as I write this he is on my lap playing with our puppy foster. His barking needs a little work. Most of it is when he is not with you and hears a noise. When he’s with you or out in the yard, he will stop with correction." ******** Biscuit will do best in a calmer home environment and would love a pup buddy in his new home. Cats are fine too. He likes to play but is best paired with a moderate-energy adult dog. He started playing with the resident puppy after about a week in his foster home, but she tends to wear him out. He gets most excited when it's walk time, loves laying in the sun, already knows his name, and will come when you call him. He's great in the car too and is happy to go and do with you. Story
IMPORTANT: We are looking for a very specific adopter for Alfie as this poor little girl is very scared and it is likely she had little human contact before she came to HART. She is with one of our trainers and making progress in learning to trust. She is very playful and bonded to 2 of the trainers dogs and loves to run and play with them and be near them. However, it is still hard to pick her up and she is a flight risk. Alfie has so much potential and has made very good progress in a short period of time but still has a way to go. To be considered as a possible adopter for Alfie, you will need to have dog experience as an adult (bonus if you have worked with scared dogs before), already have a playful, outgoing dog that can show Alfie the ropes, have no kids in your home, and live in a quiet, calm home with a highly secure fenced yard. Please only apply if you have the experience, commitment, and living situation that Alfie needs to thrive in your home. We want what is best for Alfie and for you. Thank you for understanding. Thank you for your interest in Alfie! Please visit www.hart90.org/petdetail.aspx?ID=17158 to get the most up-to-date and accurate information on this pet, to email the contact person listed for more information and how to meet Alfie, or to submit an online application. HART adopts to the local DC/VA/MD metro area only. Visit our website for more information about our adoption process.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi … my name is Roo! Read my bio to find out everything you need to know about me.  If you think I might be the perfect pup for you, go to www.allamericanmuttrescue.org/forms and complete the adoption application online. Check out this handsome pom-chi (Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix) boy!  Roo has lived his life as a ‘Family Pet/Puppy Daddy’ being loved and used to produce litters of cuties, just like himself.  Well, cute as he is, his Daddy days are done and now he is ready to find a loving forever family who will just love him for the sweetheart he is.  Now understand, he is wary around new people until he figures out if he can trust you or not, but once he does, he is a sweetheart.  He needs someone who understands this and who will protect him from stressful situations where he could get into trouble.  He is so easy to love, he just needs a little time and patience. Approximate age/birthdate:  June 1 2014 Weight/size:  12 pounds Housebroken:  YES as long as you do your part and take him out often.  Crate trained:  YES Personality:  sweet, cautious of new people, defensive around larger dogs, devoted once he trusts you Energy level:  medium Fenced yard required?:  Absolutely preferred because he enjoys having a safe place to be outside and explore.  He can NEVER be off-leash in an unfenced area as he still depends on you to keep him safe.  Right now you can’t depend on him to come when called if he is distracted or scared. Does he/she jump fences?  NO Leash walk with manners:  Working on it.  He does better when wearing a harness rather than just a collar.  The harness is also a safer choice and protects his trachea from excessive pressure. Obedience training:  NO Riding in vehicles:  RIDES OK      Spayed/neutered:   YES Up-to-date on routine vaccinations:   YES Microchipped:   YES Social with other dogs:  He has always been around other dogs his size, but he can be defensive with larger dogs, and his attitude with them could get him in trouble.  He would love to be an only pet or have a friend closer to his size. Social with cats: NO CATS Good with children:  Toy breed dogs are NOT toys and respectful, calm children ages 10 and up are generally a better fit for them.  Too much noise and activity in his world will be a stressor for him and could result in unacceptable behavior. Adoption donation:  $175 We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits.  You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references.  Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process.  We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible. When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit/meet-and-greet to see if Roo picks you too. If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, there is an adoption fee, and an adoption contract to be signed. Please feel free to email weluvpups@hotmail.com if you have additional questions.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 7, 2024, 12:06 am
