Story
About this Dog: Name: Jumanji Breed: Pomeranian Approximate Age:  8 yr Gender:  Male Weight:  around 10 lb Adoption Fee:  $450 Why in Rescue:  puppy mill survivor Requirements: fenced yard or secure potty area Scroll down to learn more! Please fill out the adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog if you are interested in meeting one of our dogs.  If clicking on the link doesn't work, just copy/paste into a browser to get to the application.  Jumanji came from a commercial breeder who was no longer going to use him for breeding.  He is a sweet guy becoming more comfortable with human handling everyday.  He tends to spin in circles, likely from living in a kennel for so long.  This may get better after he figures out he has more space to move around than just a kennel run.  He has been neutered and had his teeth cleaned, and is now ready to find a loving home. Dogs from commercial breeders are generally undersocialized (often scared/shy/skittish), and probably never lived in a house.  They need to learn things like how to walk on a leash, go up stairs, and what things like television is.  They will need a patient adopter who will give them the time they needs to adjust and learn to trust people.  Every baby step forward needs to be celebrated, and the dog needs to be accepted for who they are at each step.  Some dogs can adjust quickly and learn how to be a loved pet pretty easily.  Others take a long time to even be comfortable with things like walking through the house.  No matter how far and how fast the breeder dogs progress, they are wonderful dogs and deserve a great home after being used the first part of their lives for making puppies.  A fence (or at least a fenced in potty area) is highly recommended and may be required for certain dogs.  Another small dog in the house can also help many former breeders adjust faster to life in a home and may be required in some cases. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html   We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.     The adoption procedures are listed below.  Priority is given to potential adopters who fill out the application on our website.  If a listing is on the adoption websites, we are still accepting applications.  The listing is removed once we have received a sufficient number of applications or the pet leaves the shelter.   Adoption Procedures: 1.  Completely fill out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog.  Any missing information may have us moving onto another application. 2.  If you application is approved, we will contact you to come meet the adoptables that you are interested in.   3.  If it is a match, you will complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee.  Please be prepared to take your adopted pet home when you come meet him/her.  In most cases, you will be able to take the pet home the same day.   4.  If you have filled out an application and we haven't contacted you within a week, we may have missed your application, the pet may have been adopted by another applicant, or you may have been missing information on your application.  You may contact us to find out the status of your application at this time.  Please give us a week to process your application before contacting us!   The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $200 - $550 depending on the age of the dog, which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc All dogs are seen BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.  Bichon and Little Buddies is run by volunteers who have full time jobs in addition to the hours they spend with the rescue dogs.  Having an application on file assures us that the potential adopter is really interested in adopting a dog.  It also assists us in placing dogs in homes where both the dog and new owners are happy.  The application puts you under no obligation to adopt a dog from Bichon and Little Buddies. The Dog Pre-Adoption Application can be found at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog Thanks for thinking about adopting your new pet!More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $75 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS March 23, 2024, 4:14 pm

Story
Hey there! We're Charlie and Patches, a lovable duo looking for our forever home. Charlie is a 20-pound male Pomeranian and Chihuahua mix (black), while Patches is a 30-pound male Maltese mix (white), We're both neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, and estimated to be around 13-14 years old. We're a bonded pair, so we come as a package deal for an adoption fee of $350. We're still working on house training, but we're getting better every day. Both of us are crate trained and learning to walk on a leash. Patches enjoys walking with Charlie, and we both get super excited when we see other dogs on our walks. We love running around in the fenced backyard and cuddling up on the couch at night. We're currently staying with our fosters and we love sleeping on the couch. Charlie especially enjoys napping with family members. We usually snuggle up together on the couch when our fosters head to bed. We're a sweet pair looking for a loving home to call our own. Story
Meet Jazzy! Are you looking for a delightful little gal? Jazzy is a beautiful 5lb Pomeranian mix with a personality to match! Even though she's a golden-oldie and, she's an active gal who loves going for short walks and spending time exploring the backyard of her foster home. You might say, she's a bit of a social butterfly. She's been known to do an abrupt 180-degree turn while out on her walks just to try and follow someone else to see what they are up to. As she has settled into her foster home, Jazzy's personality has begun to blossom. Besides her enjoyment of having her neck scratched and a good ole backrub, Jazzy is generally good with people and other dogs, though she hasn't met any cats in her foster home. Children wouldn't be a good fit for her, as she gets a bit overwhelmed with them. In her former home, she had a canine sibling and is currently enjoying the company of the 2 dogs in her foster home. Jazzy recently found her voice and while she doesn't use it often, she will let you know when she wants some attention. While many dogs are motivated by food, Jazzy is a bit more selective in what she puts in her mouth. After a recent dental, she only has 4 teeth left, so some textures just seem to appeal to her more than others. Jazzy would love a home that will be patient with her as she works on her potty-training skills. While she is good about going potty outside there are times, she has a senior moment and does her own thing. Even though Jazzy has a lot of pep in her step, she still appreciates having time to enjoy some peace and quiet. If you think you have the perfect family home for Jazzy, we'd love to hear from you! Story
Meet Kenny! Well, hello there! I’m Kenny, and I am wondering why we haven’t met yet. I am 17 pounds of floof and charisma. I arrived from down south just before that February cold snap, and let me tell you - not a fan! But Albert’s hooked me up with some sweet winter gear, so I survived. Foster mom said that even though I am mostly house trained, I forgot the rules during the deep freeze. No big deal, she said, just wear this stylish band around your belly to catch any accidents! Since I'm a senior now, I need to go outside more frequently, so if I'm home alone for longer periods, I wear a belly band then too. I get along well with other dogs, and though I haven't met any cats, I likely wouldn't have any issues with them since I'm a pretty easygoing guy. Along with that, I could see myself doing just fine with respectful children who can keep in mind that I'm just a little old man who just needs some love in his life! I even get super excited when I see the elementary school kids in the neighborhood! I have charmed all the neighbors and am showing interest in playing with my fur foster brothers. I don’t really understand this game everyone calls fetch, but I’m there for a good game of chase. You should see me play bow! I do this hilarious routine of jumping on the couch and strutting up and down the length of it, accidentally on purpose messing up the couch cover. I like napping on the back of the couch like a cat and taking walks and do fairly well on a leash. The dog park is interesting - all the smells! I mostly stay by your side at the dog park, so you won’t see me running away! I especially like the ladies, although I love everyone. I think my dream home would be with someone who is around most of the time. My separation anxiety is minor, but my bark is way bigger than my size suggests. So, no apartments for me. After a nice walk, my favorite thing to do is cuddle up with my human, soaking in the good life! I sure hope you think I'm a super great fit for your home so I can go home with you! *Kenny is being fostered in the Madison, WI area.
