Story
Handsome Bilbo is an 8-year-old, purebred rat terrier. He's big and muscular for a rattie, weighing 30 lbs. Depending on what you're doing, he can be both energetic or a couch potato. If you're up for a game of tug-of-war or want to toss a toy around, he's ready too! After he has worn you out, though, he's happy to snuggle in for an afternoon of TV, snoozing between belly rubs and butt scratches.    Bilbo is house-trained and knows lots of commands, including sit, lie down, stay, wait, play dead, and more. He loves to go for walks and does great on a leash. A leash is essential when he is outside because he doesn't always come when called. Bilbo is used to staying home alone, is well-behaved, and has no separation anxiety. He is a resource guarder with food and will bite even the hand that feeds him if he thinks you might take his food away. It's best to tell him to 'wait' while you put his food down and then leave him alone while he's eating. Young children don't understand this, so Bilbo needs a home without little ones. He is also just generally uncomfortable around kids and can be defensively reactive. Bilbo gets along with some, but not all, dogs. Applicants who own other dogs should be agreeable to a meet-and-greet in a neutral place to see if the dogs get along.   Bilbo comes with a few quirks (all disclosed above), but what rescue dog doesn't? If you can forgive him for his little bit of baggage, he promises to do the same for you and to grow into a most wonderful companion! For additional photos, visit Bilbo's album at https://ImageEvent.com/newrattitude/bilbo .Our adoption fee is $200 for adult dogs or $250 for puppies under 6 months old.
