Story
My name is Paddy and I am a tricolor & black treeing walker coonhound/beagle mix. I am an intact male (I will be neutered before I am adopted) and I am 5 months old. I am here because I was given up by my owner on 04/18/2024 due to the fact I was not a good fit with the children in the home. They were my family for 3-6 months. I am used to staying inside during the day and inside during the night. I am still learning how to be potty trained - I know to poop outside, but still sometimes have pee accidents. I am a high energy dog and I will need an owner with some prior pet owning experience. I am used to staying in crates when I am alone or need to be safely contained. I am still learning to walk nicely on a leash - I pull/tug a bit when being walked. There are lots of things you can do to get me to walk comfortably and safely on a leash. The staff can tell you all about it! I would do well with some puppy obedience training to set me up for success. I do not have a history of trying to escape the home or yard, but the shelter staff always recommends owners be mindful that I do not accidentally get out a door or escape the yard. I do not need a fenced yard, however it would always be nice to have one so I can run free in a safe space! I can be good with men and women. I do not do well with children - they are too loud and active for me and I am too bossy with them. I cannot live with cats and I can be good with other dogs. My owner said I loves to play outside. I love my ropes and squeaky toy, and my kong chewy as well. All dogs are over 6 months of age are tested for heartworms. Dogs also receive heartworm and flea preventatives. They are also tested for intestinal parasites and receive routine dewormings. Dogs are vaccinated against distemper, rabies, and bordetella, spayed/neutered before adoption, and have a microchip. Adoption fees include the initial automated registration of the microchip at the time of adoption.
