Story
INeed some love in your life? Meet our beautiful and sweet Sammie. She is 1.5-year-old, 10 pound, white and brown, Shih Tzu. She has an expressive face that will melt your heart! She came to us as a stray and never claimed by an owner. She spent a couple of cold months living in a vineyard before being caught. She was completely matted and had to be shaved. No more neglect for this girl! She will require regular professional grooming. Her ideal home will include an active person who works from home and is with her most of the time. She is the ultimate companion dog and she is a good size to go everywhere you do! Sammie walks well on leash and wants to ride in your lap in the car. She uses potty pads here at the sanctuary. She goes outside to do her business with the command "go potty". Sammie is scheduled to be spayed and is microchipped and up to date on vaccines. Because of her small size no children under 10 years of age please. Are you ready to love this sweet girl? Sammie is ready for the beautiful life she deserves. Story
Kenzie (female) is about 14 years old and a very calm dog (we always called her the Zen dog). She loves going for walks, still walks really well, and does her potty outside. However, because she is old, I put a doggie diaper on her just in case she has any incontinence with peeing (sometimes she does, sometimes she doesn't). She is VERY loveable and likes to sleep a lot. She would be great for a one pet household with no kids (small kids/babies can startle her and she can react if caught off guard). She’s not an aggressive dog but can get territorial if there are other dogs in the house (she's fine with cats). She has early kidney disease so she’s on a special diet (Royal Canin Renal Support), and has mild back pain but still can jump up and down from furniture. I can no longer take care of her as I have moved to a senior apartment. I love her so much and hope to rehome her vs euthanasia.

Story
Beautiful Nellie is waiting to be your new best friend! She is a gorgeous, 2-year-old, 13 pound, golden colored, silky, coated, Papillion / Terrier mix ?. This pretty girl has light warm brown eyes. Her pointed ears add so much character to her face. Her gorgeous coat is soft to the touch. She will require regular brushing and occasional professional grooming. She was surrendered to AFC with her 3 puppies: Billy, Brutus and Graham, when their owner went off to college and left this little family behind. Nellie has been well loved and is an amazing companion. She wants to go everywhere you go. She gets excited when she sees the car keys come out! She loves to go for walks and enjoys riding in the car. Nellie is a special girl and will need an active, loving family. She is housebroken. She gets along well with other dogs her size or smaller. She would be fine as an only dog, as she loves to be the center of attention, though you would need to work from home. She is scheduled to be spayed and is microchipped and up to date on shots. Ready for the perfect girl? Nellie is ready for you!
