Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/. Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be about within an hour of Wilmington, DE for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit. Meet Little Bit! Little Bit is a 14-year-old, 10 lb., Shih Tzu who was rescued from an overcrowded shelter. She had giant mammary tumors, matted fur, and desperately needed a new beginning. Little Bit came into our care and went straight to the vet. She had eight masses removed, none of which were cancerous. Little Bit was spayed, received a dental, and had a course of antibiotics for an infection. She does have a cataract in one eye which is bulging slightly. The vet isn’t concerned about it at the moment, but there is a small possibility that the eye would need to be removed in the future. Little Bit isn’t currently on any medications, but she may eventually need inexpensive, over-the-counter eye drops.  Little Bit is almost fully housebroken, but she can have a senior accident every now and then. She is more than happy to wear a diaper to prevent this from happening. Little Bit can handle a few big stairs to go outside, but needs some help with big staircases. She enjoys eating small kibble and a bit of Fresh Pet wet food. Little Bit would be happiest in a home where she can sleep 90% of the day. She can sleep through anything, so a low- or high-level activity house would be just fine for her. (Just be prepared for some snoring!) Little Bit loves children, cats, dogs, and strangers. She enjoys being held and rubbing her little face all over you. Little Bit sleeps happily in a dog bed, but will also use her big puppy eyes when she wants to sleep with mom. This sweet, patient dog asks for so little, and will give you so much. Can you please apply today?

Story
Meet Munchkin, our charming 11-year-old mixed breed boy, weighing in at a delightful 30 pounds. With a background in a local pet store, he's a social butterfly who effortlessly interacts with cats, dogs, and children (he loves children!). Munchkin brings a wealth of experience from his previous home, making him a seasoned companion. While he may need a bit of time to adjust to his new surroundings, his friendly nature and adaptability shine through. Consistent potty breaks and the potential use of belly bands can aid in this transition. If you're ready to open your heart to an easygoing and loving companion, Munchkin is the perfect fit for a forever home filled with warmth and care. Munchkin has had a recent dental cleaning and extraction of some teeth, senior panel blood work (nothing notable), and removal of a few pesky skin tags, but is healthy and ready to find his new family! Meet the V dogs! These pups were rescued from horrible conditions and most of them had to be totally shaved. They are shy, but enjoy the company of other dogs and would do best with a fenced in yard. We believe they are some kind of poodle or shih tzus mixes.
