Maxwell Smart is just that…a smart, bright, loving and playful little 11 month old, Shih Tzu/Poodle boy that is looking for a great home that will provide a ton of fun and another youngish playmate sibling.  This boy came from a senior couple who could not afford to help fix his little hip that needed some surgery to make him walk perfectly.  The vet they had suggested euthanizing this boy but they put a plea out there for help!  Maxwell Smart is in great walking and hip health now thanks to his FHO surgery and a wonderful foster nurse who loves him dearly.  This boy is loving and open to new friendship and makes friends everywhere he does.  Are you ready for a little “Maxwell Smartie Pants” to enter your life and live happily ever after?  If so, please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.March 26, 2024, 11:20 pm

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 07/06/23 Reason for being in rescue: Jax was found as a stray but is microchipped.  It's taken some time to get through all the attempts to return him but it's evident now, he is ours.  We found the owners and they arranged a pickup time but did not show up.  They have not responded to calls or texts since that time.  We suspect it is their way of letting us know he did not fit their lives. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Jax is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. He is quirky, opinionated and chases his tail all the time.  And we mean that literally.   Weight: 8.5 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $349 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me?  We're looking for a confirmed shih tzu or yorkie (or both) adult only please lover of the breed.  An owner who will understand these guys are quirky and challenging but are also fun and endearing.  Someone experienced with behavior challenges is what Rocky Jax needs.   We know that Rocky is a little slow to warm up, but once he does, he gives you his heart. We know that he'd really prefer to be the only dog in your home or to have one other larger dog as a buddy and BFF. Rocky has several small dogs of the same size to romp, rock, and roll with all day long and several large dogs that he can stretch his legs and run with. He would love a home with a dog that's just his size or no dog at all. Rocky Jax does not enjoy small children and their sudden movements. A child-free home is the home of his choice.  What is my personality like? Rocky Jax is a bit of an independent daydreamer. We catch him staring off into the heavens and then snapping back to reality. He has his life mapped out and doesn't want human input on how to change it. Rocky does what Rocky wants to do.  True to his breed, Rocky Jax is a quirky, cool dude. He is reportedly a Yorkshire terrier and Shih Tzu mix and what a combination. Found as a stray, we finally connected with the owners, and know some of his life. He was owned by a young mother who lived with extended family in one home. However, other family members did not agree with having Rocky in the home. He spent most of his time in the backyard. He ran away several times and once was picked up by Animal Control. That is when he got neutered and got a microchip.   Rocky has growled and snapped at his foster family but never connected. We think if he was pushed, he would connect and he would bite.  His new owner needs to be committed to rehab for Rocky and to understanding that there are boundaries you can't cross. Respect those boundaries and he's a lot of fun.  Push them and you may get teeth on you.   Rocky is horrible for grooming.  His groomer first puts a cone on him and then his foster mom holds on while the groomer shaves as fast as she can.  When it comes to the face, that he does not allow.  We take Rocky to the vet and let the vet give him a sleepy shot before we can groom his face.   Rocky Jax's quirkiness involves a complicated relationship with his tail. His happy place is having a large backyard to run out and chase that tail for hours on end. He's convinced the tail does not belong on his body and once he sees it, he will spin and bark at it. Sometimes he only barks a few minutes, but we have seen Rocky bark for up to an hour at that tail.  After he's worn out, he will come to seek affection or just follow you everywhere. Rocky loves a comfy chair or couch to snooze in. One thing is certain, Rocky is sure to make you crack a smile on a bad day. How do I act when I first meet new people? Rocky Jax can be slightly shy when meeting new people, but he quickly warms up with a few treats and some TLC. He will let you know if he's interested in affection. Other tips and tidbits: Rocky Jax was found as a stray but we found his family and they filled us in on some of his history.  However, since we have nothing in writing, there are things about Rocky that we've had to guess on.  Based on his overall health and condition we have estimated Jax at about 6 months. We celebrate his birthday 01/05/23. House trained? Dogs can be house-trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. March 27, 2024, 12:43 pm

Lemon Drop is half of a bonded pair. She and her mother April will only be adopted together. If you don't have room in your heart for 2 dog, this is not your dog. Lemon Drop is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Weight: 8.6 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $700 for the pair Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Lemon Drop is half of a bonded pair (with her mother April). First and foremost, we are looking for a home with room in their heart for 2 special dogs. Lemon Drop is more comfortable in rescue than is April. Neither of these lovely little ladies is used to the noise of so many other dogs and they miss sleeping with their human nearby. These girls need a home where their humans will be home most of the day and shower them with love and affection constantly. Lemon Drop and April are looking for a forever family that can once again provide them with that life.  What is my personality like? Lemon Drop is a five-year-old Shih Tzu who recently arrived at CPR with her mother April. Their owner developed a serious medical condition which meant she could no longer care for them. She made the agonizing, yet most loving decision she could make, she gave them up to CPR to find them new forever homes that would treat them in the manner they'd become accustomed to.  Lemon Drop, unlike her mother April, will approach you. However, she shies away when you go to pet her. We believe this is a sign that she wants your love and will soon allow her caregivers to pet her. We expect both Lemon Drop and April to shine once they are in their new forever home. Because we haven't seen their true personalities emerge, we cannot recommend a house with children for them at this time. Lemon Drop and April desperately want to send the best years of their lives in a home that can provide them a relaxed, calm, and caring place. These little ladies will do well in either an apartment or house. How do I act when I first meet new people? As noted above Lemon Drop will approach you and sniff you out. She doesn't allow you to pet her yet. Again, we believe this is due to the adjustment she is making to her new surroundings. We expect both Lemon Drop and her mother April to show their true selves in the coming days and weeks. Other tips and tidbits: Our vet estimates Lemon Drop's birthday to be on or about 2/7/2019. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. April is half of a bonded pair (with her daughter Lemon Drop). First and foremost, we are looking for a home with room in their heart for 2 special dogs. April and Lemon Drop have been taken aback by their surroundings. They are not used to the noise of so many other dogs and they are not used to not sleeping without their human nearby. They need owners that will be home most if not all day and will be attentive to them always. Both the precious little girls are taking a while to adjust to living here because they lived in a house and were pampered and loved on constantly. They are looking for their forever family that can once again, provide them with the life they are so accustomed to.  What is my personality like? April is a nearly seven-year-old Shih Tzu. She and her daughter Lemon Drop are recent arrivals to CPR. Their owner developed a serious medical condition that would not allow her to continue caring for them in the manner she, and they, had been accustomed to. These girls need to be adopted together.  April and Lemon Drop are both still apprehensive about their surroundings. Their personalities have yet to emerge, but we expect they will shine once they are safely lodged in their new forever home. April is far more wary and reserved than is Lemon Drop. She will need much love and reassuring from her adopter and even then she probably won't stray far from Lemon Drop. Because we have yet to see their true personalities we cannot recommend a house with children for them. These two little ladies are looking to spend the best years of their lives with adopters that can provide them a calm and caring home. They will do well in either an apartment or house. How do I act when I first meet new people? April does not approach people and will back into the corner when they approach her.  Because April came from a loving home and is now housed with many other dogs she has not shown her true self. She is very afraid and confused right now with her new situation. We will monitor April and update her development as the days pass. We do expect her to adjust and show more personality in the future with her caregivers here at CPR. Other tips and tidbits: Our vet estimates April's birthday to be 4/1/2017. House trained? No, Milo would enjoy one but he is pocket-size. Realistically, he only needs someone to be his constant companion!  What kind of home would be best for me? Milo is looking for a home where he is royalty! He is 6lbs of adorable! He thinks he should always be in someone's arms! He is perfect for someone looking for a lap companion! Milo is apartment-appropriate, cat-friendly, dog-friendly, and all-around perfect! Milo will morph into many homes with ease! He does ask that you consider bringing home his best friend Goose! Milo and Goose are not bonded but they do enjoy one another's company. They have lived together for the last few years in harmony. We feel Milo would be fine with children, please remember he is tiny! Milo is a true and genuine easy dog, and we promise you will love him with your whole heart the second you meet him! What is my personality like? Milo is the definition of laid-back and easygoing. He takes life as it comes. Milo loves to be held, a set of arms to hold him all day is ideal. Milo also frequently loves to explore. His tiny legs carry him far when he likes! After a few trots across the yard to smell everything, Milo likes to lie down and snooze in the sun! Milo makes himself at home in any room he walks into, if there are dog beds out, he happily lays down in them! This little guy is very confident in himself and fears nothing! Milo does need some work in the house-training department, he will pee in the house if not taken out regularly. Milo is interested in toys, but most are 3 times the size of him so he's not sure what to do about that! Milo is just a chill little guy looking to be a lap pet!
