Story
We brought Finley into our home in May of 2023 after living with a foster family as a rescue from a very poor home situation. We could tell he had, and still does to an extent, a lot of anxiety - he does not like to be away from us for long, but we have loved and nurtured him through some rough patches into what is a very vibrant and energetic dog today. We believe he is about 1.5 - 2 years old, and is a mix between Poodle (75%), Australian Shepherd (12.5%) and Retriever (12.5%). He currently weighs ±75 lbs., and gets along rather well with our other dog, a 2-year old female Doodle. We feel a home that can offer a large, fenced yard with room to run, older kids who can take him on long walks and play fetch (his favorite - that and keep away), would be the best environment for him. Unfortunately we lack the time and availability to give him the attention he deserves, and while not an easy decision, we have his best interest at heart. Thank you for considering Finley The Bells

Story
My name is Winnie and I am not sure of my age.  I am not a puppy or a senior dog.  I was taken to a local shelter after someone saw a car in front of them toss me out the window.  It was late at night but the good samaritian got out to get me off the side the road.  Then contacted the shelter.  When I was thrown out the window,  I had long matted hair.  I was a bit skinny as well.  So everyone realized that I was not well cared for.  The shelter waited for my previous family to come forward to reclaim me.  But lucky for me they did not. I was put out to rescues due to me being afraid.  I growled and tried to bite because I was extremely confused and scared.  The shelter can be a noisy place which did not help me relax either.  Once in rescue it was quieter and I was allowed to relax.  I was given time to become more comfortable.  So I am slowly coming out of my shell. I walk great on a leash and have more confidence on the leash than off.  I am allowing humans to pet me although I am still a bit timid.  Currently I am not spayed.  I have a mammary tumor that the vet thinks was infected.  So I am on antibiotics.  Once that is clear, I will have the tumor removed and will be spayed at the same time.  The foster home has noticed that I am a bit reactive around my left leg but when I go back to the vet that will be looked at. I am looking for a quiet home where I will be given time to learn to trust again.  I am not looking for an active home and preferably one with older children if there are kids.  I am learning to relax while I am held.  Being held is nice but I will not be asking to be held all the time.  I have been able to explore the fenced in yard at the foster home without someone walking me on the leash but I am not playing or running.  Smelling and walking are my speed.  Then I come to the closest human and sit by them to watch the world pass.  I am fine with small dogs as long as they are nice to me. I hope someone who will help me learn to trust again will find room in their heart and home for me. Story
Emmett is a Standard Poodle that was purchased and the owners decided they didn't want the dog, so he came to Ruff Love Rescue with his fur all matted.  He's been vetted, groomed and is ready for a forever home.  The vet estimated year of birth is 2021, but he still has a lot of puppy in him.  He's crate trained, but he will need guidance with training and house training when he goes to his forever home.  He's a sweet boy, very playful and loves people.  He will make a great hiking buddy and will love watching tv with his people in the evenings.  If you're interested, fill out the adoption application and someone will get in touch with you for a meet and greet. ~Adoption donation $500 . All vetting is up to date. Microchipped and neutered. Also on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Story
Meet Gus Gus!!!  He is the sweetest dog you will ever meet.  Gus is a 6 year old Standard Poodle who weighs 60 lbs.  Gus is the entire package.  He is house broken, crate trained and he walks well on a leash.  Gus adores people and he is good with other dogs.  If you are going somewhere you have a built in companion as Gus loves to go for a ride.  He is also extremely smart  He knows lots of words and several commands.  The poor boy spent the first 2 years of his life in a crate the majority of the time.  His current mom rescued him from that terrible life in 2020.  Originally Gus had been an only dog.  It did not take him long to adore his pug little brother and he considers him his best friend.  The family recently added a third dog to the pack.  Poor Gus is again unhappy as he does not like being in a multi-dog family.  It has caused Gus to have an upset tummy a lot of the time.  His nerves are just working overtime and the anxiety is causing this.  When out on his own you would never know.  Gus is friendly to everyone he meets.  It only takes a couple of sniffs.  Gus would love a home with a smaller buddy close to his age to pal around with and to keep him company.  If you have a small or medium size dog that is looking for a big buddy then you have found him in Gus.  Gus is neutered, current on all shots, heartworm negative and microchipped.  Experienced poodle people only.  To be considered for Gus' forever family and to request an application please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  March 26, 2024, 11:20 pm
