Story
Introducing.... Oreo! Oreo aka Mr. Wiggle Tail was left in a cardboard box outside of a shelter with food. He was very scared and had no idea what was happening to him. SCP to the rescue! We took him into foster care as soon as we found out about him. This little sweetpea is a doll. He bonds strongly to "his person" and is a total lap dog. He is house-broken and does well in a crate. He gets along well with other little dogs - but he wants to chase cats - so no cats for him! He adores belly rubs and rolls over immediately to ask for them:) He is pretty quiet but gets nervous in new places - like Petco. He has crazy long fur around his neck, but he has short fur on the rest of his body. He goes crazy when you pick up his leash because to him, there is nothing better in life than to go for a walk! He is 8.5 lbs and loves to be held - oh, and kissed:) A home without children would be best because he does get scared being picked up sometimes.... He is about 8 years old. He will be available for adoption in early May! If interested in Oreo, please let us know and you can find our application on our website! If you are interested in him, please send an email to SCP! Applications can be found on our website at secondchancepets.org under the "Forms" tab. Please complete and return to us for review! All dogs typically show on Saturdays at the Petco in Clear Lake as well. 2410 Bay Area Blvd near Space Center. Adopter for this dog must reside in the immediate Houston/Galveston area and be at least 25 years old. A home visit may be required prior to this dog going to any home. The adoption fee for a dog is $190 (or $245 for puppies). All dogs are microchipped, on heartworm protection, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed and treated for fleas. Adoptions are held on Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Clear Lake Petco, 2410 Bay Area Boulevard. All dogs are microchipped, on heartworm protection, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed and treated for fleas. Since all of our dogs are in foster homes, an individual dog may not be at our weekly Adoption Event due to conflict with a foster's schedule. If you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please send an email to scpdogworld@gmail.com so that the Dog Coordinator can let you know if the dog will be at the Saturday Adoption Event at Petco. If you just want to meet some great dogs looking for their forever home, please come visit with us on Saturday! April 17, 2024, 10:11 am

Story
Hi! My name is Munchie, and I like investigating everything around me! They think I am a Chihuahua/ Rat Terrier mix, so I won’t get very big at all, but there is still plenty of me to love. I am a little boy and am about 4 months old, weighing in at about 8-9 lbs. I do love to eat, though, and I love my naps after meals. I am great with kids and grown-ups alike, but I like the kiddos a little more. I recently spent an evening with my foster parents' 7-year-old granddaughter, and we fell in love instantly. I am also great with other dogs. My foster sisters are super nice, and I get to wrestle with Rudy. She’s a year-old Dutch Shepherd Mix that is about 6x my weight. I still win, though!!! My Foster Mommy and Daddy think I’ll be ready to house train as soon as I get the rest of my vaccines. I already go to the door like my big sisters. I haven’t been around cats, so I’m not sure what I’ll think of them yet. One of my favorite things to do is to steal Mom’s socks, but I always leave them lying around so she can find them. I love tug of war and chasing empty water bottles. Basically, I will chase anything that makes noise. I love my stuffed Santa to sleep with, and I sleep in a kennel all night by myself. I may fuss a little at first, but I settle down fast, and it’s off to dreamland. All in all, I’ll make a great family dog and can fit in if you have room in your heart for me. To adopt Munchie, please fill out an application at rangersreach.org/adopt Note: The above bio on the dog reflects the behavior we have observed in the dog's foster home. We provide adopters current information on our dogs; we cannot guarantee they will behave in the same manner in a different environment with new owners. Since they are rescue dogs we guess breed of looks. Our adoption fees vary, according to species, size, age and other issues. Discounts apply in some cases. Our adoption fee covers dewormed, heartworm tested (if over 6 months), started on heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, vaccinated for bordetella, dhppv, rabies (if age appropriate) and microchipped as well as spay/neuter at our preapproved vets. All puppies not altered due to age will under a foster to adopt contract until completed and an additional deposit of $100 will be required- deposit will be refunded upon completion of surgery. We expect our dogs to be adopted by families who understand- these are rescue dogs, they will need time to decompress, routine and stability. We put our lives into saving these dogs- we expect their new families to be prepared for a lifetime commitment before applying- dogs are not recyclable. Please do not send an email inquiring about a dog. Please fill out the adoption application found at https://www.rangersreach.org/ We are 100% volunteer ran we try as hard as we can to get through applications as fast as possible. If we spend all our time answering inquires and emails, we have no time to look over applications. Please do not apply until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. We do not hold dogs for any reason. We do try to be fair and go in the order applications are received. If no response, decision or adoption is made we must move on to the next application. Applying for a dog does not guarantee that you will receive that dog. WE ARE NOT A SHELTER, WE HAVE NO BRICK AND MORTAR LOCATION-- WE ARE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER RESCUE, ALL DOGS ARE IN PRIVATE FOSTER HOMES. If we if we think your home might be a good fit, we will contact you once we have reviewed your completed application. We do check references, use social media, been verified, do phone interview/emails, and home check will be completed before meeting an adoptable dog.
