Dolly is a 2.5 year old spayed female coonhound mix who weighs 50 lbs. Dolly was rescued from a desperate situation. She was one of 30 dogs and puppies living in a small home. Their owners reached out for help due to medical issues, and the local rural shelter was unable to provide them any assistance other than euthanasia due to overcrowding. We are grateful help was sought and we were able to do our part to keep these dogs safe! If you remember the Bluey litter of heeler/hound puppies we had available for adoption last summer, Dolly is their mama! She is now ready to find a forever home of her very own. This beautiful girl is quite the catch! She is great with other dogs but does not rely on them. Whether she is an only dog, has a bunch of doggy siblings, or simple socializes regularly in her forever family, she'll be content. Dolly loves human interaction once she gets to know you. She can be a little shy at first but is quick to trust if given the chance. Dolly walks great on a leash, and she is house- and crate-trained. This girl has looks AND brains! She is super smart and treat motivated. Her ears are as soft as velvet - just like her personality! A 10-month-old Treeing Walker Coonhound mix, Journee’s name came from the English word for “journey,” or a trip of some kind. This name suits her well because her life so far has been a journey, the destination being a loving forever home. Journee’s foster saw her in the kill shelter, pulled her out, and brought her home and into rescue. She was 5 months old then, about 10 months old now, and in the 5 months since her rescue, she has grown almost to her full size of 55 pounds. Her short coat is tricolor, but mostly white, and her eyes big and brown and hopeful. She loves children, other dogs, and even cats. Being adopted would mean the end of her journey because she would have found you WAITING FOR HER at home. We saw sweet Ginny on Facebook. She was a stray that ended up in a high kill shelter in Virginia. Shortly after she arrived she gave birth to 4 puppies. The shelter had no idea that she was pregnant because she was nothing but skin and bones. We knew we somehow had to get her here to Tennessee so we put our thinking caps on and a lot of wonderful volunteers drove her to our pick up spot in southern VA where our regular transporter picked her and the babies up on his way back to Nashville. We met them in Nashville at 1 AM and drove the family 100 miles back to the rescue. We knew Ginny was young, possibly still a pup herself and our vet confirmed that she was only 11 months at the time of the puppy's birth. Her pups have all been adopted and now it's Ginny's turn! Walker Hounds are very high energy dogs and can be a little stubborn so make sure you research the breed before you make the choice to adopt. We insist on a fenced yard for her so she can have room to free run and enjoy the rest of her life. These dogs are the number one dumped off breed as their owners will desert them if they don't hunt the way they want them too! We have several of them here at the rescue for that very reason. They are fun loving couch potatoes and will bring you many years of joy and happiness! PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! My name is Winnie and I am a loving 7 year old, 50 pound girl that is a beautiful Hound breed called a Tree Walker.   I was found as a stray in the middle of a rural highway and I am such a soft and gentle girl that loves to lay around and sleep and just be an easy couch potato friend.
