Story
Aberdeen Scottish Terrier Rescue is a registered 501(c)3 Web Site: www.aberdeenstr.com ***MUST SUBMIT APPLICATION before we will respond to email or phone inquiries. Thank You for your cooperation*** Please read listings fully to the end before applying for one of our beloved rescues. WE ARE NOT A SHELTER; WE ARE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER RESCUE WITH FULL-TIME JOBS. Please do not contact us to look at a dog. We will contact you once we have reviewed your completed application if we think your home might be a good fit. A reference check, phone interview, and home visit will be completed before meeting an adoptable dog. We work quickly. Please do not submit an application until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. Expect your references to be contacted shortly after submitting your application. We adopt out to homes in WA state, but require that you are present for the meet and greet in Newcastle, WA. Our adoption fee is non-negotiable. The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Zelle, or cash. We no longer accept PayPal because of the percentage they take & their fees but if the potential adopter wants to pay the fees we will accept PayPal. As per usual it seems these days that the call was put out for the need from commercial breeders who needed some of their dogs gone, at a cost of course in the middle of Omaha. Of course they always want money for the dogs & of course once we know about them we are not leaving them & do what we have to do to help them. But despite where they lived & were going to be used to make money off their backs, they are always the most precious bundles of joy. Cookie’s life was instantly changing in that moment & only for the better. He was one of the very lucky ones. On this day we rescued Cookie & 7 other baby dolls. 4 of those were possibly his siblings. Now the real healing, love & devotion could begin & show Cookie how he is supposed to be loved & adored in a loving forever home just as he is in his foster home. Cookie, his siblings & his friends & were bought back to the WA state where he is now is so happy to be here & can’t wait to find his new loving devoted forever home. Cookie’s foster mum said, look out. This Westie boy has a huge personality on him. He always likes to let his foster mum know where he is by talking to her & his foster dad. When they are not paying attention to him, he lets them know it’s all about him. He does love his foster siblings & running & chasing them & playing with them so he definitely needs a younger dog in the home. They said he adores being picked up & held & carried around to see what is going on. He is demanding though, it’s all about him when he wants something. He is a very cheeky dog his foster mum said, he will walk up to her & bite at the air as if to say give me what I want now. Which is your attention & love. He is extremely sweet she said. The reality is, the foster homes are his real first experience at being in a home, with a tv, bedding he can snuggle up in, a roof over his head that’s not outside. Cookie is a wonderful eater & is not shy about eating & has not been since the day we got him & his foster family took him home. In his foster home he eats clean, meaning fruits, vegetables, grains, proteins & supplements. He is obsessed with his food & treats. He gets very excited & can get vocal when he knows it’s time to eat. He adores comfy beds & big comfy blankets because again the reality is, this is something he did not get to experience ever until he was rescued. He will also want to sleep in bed with you or with his dogs friends snuggled up. He is such a fun puppy who just wants to be loved. He loves everyone & is very spirited shall we say. He would still need to be taught to walk on a harness & leash. He is a puppy & we have not taken him out anywhere. He still needs to learn his puppy manners. He thinks the world revolves around him. Cookie rides in the car well & considering the only times we know of was when he went to be sold & when we got him & going home with his foster family & to & from the vets. It’s still all new to him though but he has done amazing. We are looking for a crate free home for this little lad only. Cookie as you can imagine spent the first part of his life in a caged environment. We are also looking for a forever home for Cookie where someone is home during the day or he can go with her people wherever possibly he can go with them. When they find someone who treats them as they should be treated & loves them they get so attached to them. Cookie is looking for a forever home who will cherish him & love him as he should be loved & be patient with him & never give up on him. Cookie has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes in the rescue & in his foster home & he is currently with other dogs & adores other dogs. He absolutely must go to a forever home with a dog or dog’s present in the home for him to thrive in. Please do not apply saying your neighbors have a dog or family members or you will take him to places where there are other dogs. That will not work, another dog or dogs is mandatory along with a fully fenced backyard. Cookie is roughly 8.5 lbs & he is 6 months old & ‭a west highland terrier‬. He has put on weight since being in his loving foster home. What he is mixed with we are not sure, male, he is neutered by laser by our wonderful vets, he is microchipped, up to date on his shots, including DHLPP, Bordatella, rabies & dewormed & as a preventative treated for giardia. We have spent far more on Cookie with paying for him from a commercial breeder. Bringing him to WA with his travel/flight costs, his transportation to WA. All of his medical care in WA etc & bringing him to WA then his adoption fee comes close to covering. His adoption fee does not even cover half of what we have spent on this little lad. Cookie has not been around cats since being in the rescue, but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together & we have not him around small children so we do do not recommend small children nor cats though & it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children & cats. We were not there when Cookie was conceived so we do not know who his parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think his breed is. As with all of our rescues & Cookie’s friends he will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Cookie potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond. We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying. Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Cookie & going through our process and have read her listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on. Or you waste this rescues time, will remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit via WebEx or Zoom due to covid & followed by a meet & greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Cookie who understands his needs & that meet all the requirements for the special sweet little Cookie. Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately. Cookie has an adoption fee of $1650 & is ready for his truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what he has been through.

Of course they always want money for the dogs & of course once we know about them we are not leaving them & do what we have to do to help them. Pinks’s life was instantly changing in that moment & only for the better. She was one of the very lucky ones. On this day we rescued Pink & 7 other baby dolls. 4 of those were possibly her siblings. Now the real healing, love & devotion could begin & show Pink how she is supposed to be loved & adored in a loving forever home just as she is in her foster home. Pink, her siblings & her friends were bought back to the WA state where she is now is so happy to be here & can’t wait to find her new loving devoted forever home. Pink foster mum & dad said, don’t let this cute little face fool you. She thinks she is a big dog in a little body. This girl is not shy & likes to think she is the boss. Especially when it comes to food. Absolutely obsessed with food. This carin girl is so sweet though & her foster mum gives her kisses & she soaks it all up. She is obsessed with her foster dad & is quite demanding with him. She is a sweetheart though & loves her toys & can get up to puppy mischief. She does love her foster siblings & running & chasing them & playing with them so she definitely needs a younger dog in the home. She said she adores being picked up & held & carried around to see what is going on. But can also be very independent & be a talker when she wants something from you. The reality is, the foster homes are her real first experience at being in a home, with a tv, bedding she can snuggle up in, a roof over her head that’s not outside.
