Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Are you looking for a cute and small puppy?  Please read about Gene.  He might be your new buddy!  Gene is a chihuahua mix who is almost 4 months old  and weighs 9 lbs (mid-April).  He should remain a smaller sized dog.    Gene is incredibly silly and loving.  He even has a heart on his tummy to prove it. He loves people, squeaky toys, his Nylabones, and zoomies. He would love a fenced yard to run around in.  If he doesn't have a fenced yard, he will need to get his exercise in the house or on walks since he does have a lot of energy.  He might be too energetic for young children but older children should be OK.   Gene is crated trained and if taken out on a regular schedule, he won't have any accidents in the house.  He gets along fine with other dogs.  Gene wants to play with the cat in his foster home. So might be OK with a dog savvy cat.  &#226&#128&#139He is very loving and wants nothing better than curling up with his human. Gene may not be appropriate in a multifamily setting.  When he is upset, he can be vocal. He is very food motivated and a fast learner. Would you like to meet this sweet boy?  Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  ·  YOU MUST SUBMIT AN  APPLICATION TO BEST FRIEND PET   ADOPTION TO BE CONSIDERED FOR GENE. ·  Applicants should  live no further than one hour from Raleigh/ Cary NC.  We would consider applicants who live a bit further if they are a good fit.  ·  Adopters must be willing to bring the Gene to the Raleigh area for all medical care needed until he is neutered at 5-6 months of age.  ·  Best Friend Pet Adoption pays for all medical care until Gene is finalized after he is neutered.  INTERESTED IN ADOPTING GENE? Story
George is part of our family and we love him dearly. He has been with us since he was allowed to come home (May 2020) from the pound after he was born into foster care. He loves our kids and plays very well with dogs he knows. He however, is a very nervous/anxious dog. When our kids bring over friends he is completely fine with them; but, if they try to pet him while laying down he gets very anxious. We've tried so many ways to keep our kids from having their friends pet George, but short of locking him up each time when their friends come over, we've tried everything else. We even put him through an intensive three week bootcamp and he improved materially, but I don't know what else to do. He is a member of our family and we love him dearly. this is such a hard decision, but we think it'll be best if he can find a home that is a better fit.
