Story
Meet Clark, a charming 7-year-old Yorkie with a heart as golden as his fur. Despite facing a recent loss, Clark's spirit remains resilient and his love knows no bounds. This little pup is as sweet as they come, with a gentle demeanor that melts hearts wherever he goes. Clark's affectionate nature extends even to our feline friends - he gets along famously with cats, making him a purr-fect companion for any cat-loving household. However, Clark's ideal home would be one without children, as he prefers a quieter environment where he can feel secure and relaxed. While Clark's feelings towards other dogs are uncertain, he's eager to make new furry friends given the right introduction. With a bit of patience and understanding, Clark may just find a canine companion to share his adventures with. One thing to note about Clark is his protective streak - once he forms a bond with his person or people, he's fiercely loyal and will do whatever it takes to keep them safe. While this loyalty is endearing, it's important to understand that Clark may resort to biting if he feels his loved ones are threatened. Despite this, Clark's heart is filled with love waiting to be shared with a compassionate family who can provide him with the stability and understanding he deserves. Are you ready to open your heart and home to this sweet, courageous soul? Clark is eagerly awaiting his forever home, where he can shower his new family with endless love and devotion.

Story
Thomas is a too-cute terrier mix on the hunt for his forever home!  Thomas was found as a stray and we estimate he is around 8-9 years old and just 11 pounds.  He is fostered with another pup and does very well.  Thomas is house and doggie door trained.  Thomas will happily flip over for belly rubs -- one of his favorite things!!  Check out a cute video of him here! Thomas walks nicely on a leash and has no problems with the steps in his multi-level foster home. Thomas is heartworm positive and started his OBG-sponsored treatment. He is available for adoption during the treatment.  Once he completes the treatment, he will need OBG-sponsored surgery to repair his luxated hip.  Although he has this going on, he is the sweetest, most charming, deserving pup!  To learn more about him, please email OBG at adoptme@cockerspanielrescue.com. Thomas is currently fostered in Maryland but available for adoption outside of the area.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 22, 2024, 3:49 pm

Story
Willie is a very special little boy who has a sad story. We certainly want to change his life's story and give him a happy ending. We know we will have a lot of people interested in him so please read the entire post and make sure you are a good match for him. Willie arrived here after being turned over to us from a backyard breeder. He is 7 years old and lived outside his entire life. Willie was adopted to a family with experience with a small dog. Unfortunately, they discovered he was not comfortable around small children and was nipping some at their child so he was returned to us. We found him a great home again. Another very sad story. One of his owners had an unexpected medical emergency which has now prevented them from being able to care for a dog. So although they loved Willie, they couldn't keep him. Willie is a sweet boy but has some anxiety (who can blame him) and will pace around the house when he gets anxious. He does not like his face or feet being touched, so grooming him can be an issue. He is OK with a bath and having his hair cut, but will not let you trim his face or nails. He is going to need an experienced adopted who has experience with a somewhat stressed dog who will need lots of patience and TLC. He is not really a lap dog, but does want to lay or be near his person. We won't adopt him to a first time dog owner or a home with children. The following information comes from his current foster mom: "Willie is a sweet gentleman who is smart and independent. He is very quiet, not yappy and only barks when it’s appropriate. He enjoys his walks and is good on a leash. He loves to meet other dogs and people. Nothing seems to phase him on his walks, but he does enjoy looking at squirrels along the way. He is curious and loves to explore the backyard, but also loves to nap on the screened porch. Willie likes to start his day early and after some good morning pets before breakfast. After breakfast, with a little coaxing, he will go potty outside and then a nap before going on his morning walk. He is a good eater and loves his treats. He hasn’t shown any interest in toys or balls yet. We are working on housebreaking so we take a couple of walks a day and he wears a belly band while in the house during the day but so far has not had an accident. After our evening walk, he doesn’t need the belly band. He joins me on the couch to watch a little tv, but he prefers his own cushion to a lap. He retires early to his crate for a good night’s rest. He may want to sleep on the couch, so the crate door is always left open. He is a little nervous on car rides, but does fine. If possible, he would prefer not being in a crate in the car. He enjoyed his outing in CW, meeting dogs and people-watching while sitting on DOG Street. Willie would do well in a home without children but with another dog to show him what being a dog is all about, and someone who is at home to give him lots of love and attention this sweet gentleman deserves.” Willie is only 7 so he has a potential life span of another 10 years or possibly more. We want this next home to be his forever home. If you think you could make a great home for Willie our application can be found at www.homesfurhounds.org. He is located in Williamsburg, Va.

Story
Welcome Tilly!  Tilly is an 8'ish-year-old, 17-pound yorkie-terrier mix of epic cuteness with a side of sass.  She is fostered with two senior pups and has been fine around them, but we don't think she would enjoy a young, playful pup.  A previous dog owner is ideal to adopt Tilly. She enjoys lounging around during the day and walking around her neighborhood.  Check out a cute video of her here! She is good on the leash and enjoys riding in the car.  Tilly is house and crate trained.  Tilly was found as a stray, so we don't know anything about her background.  She takes daily, inexpensive thyroid medicine that will help her drop a few pounds that she needs to lose.  She is quite a darling diva. Tilly is fostered in Alexandria, VA.  To learn more about Tilly please email us at adoptme@cockerspanielrescue.com.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 22, 2024, 3:49 pm

Story
Meet Jazz and Wobbles! These two are a mother and daughter pair who came to us in August from a local animal control. They were part of a hoarding case and are very attached. THIS IS A BONDED PAIR AND MUST BE ADOPTED TOGETHER. Jazz is a 4.5-year-old Yorkie mix weighing 15 lbs. Wobbles is a 6.5-year-old Yorkie mix weighing 25 lbs. Both had cherry eyes when they arrived, and we fixed the surgery but Wobbles’ returned. Because they haven't been outside much until now, they're scared of new things and noises, so they need to have a fenced yard. They love attention but need time to trust you. They're currently living with other dogs and a child in their foster home without any problems. If you're patient and willing to give them love, they'll be wonderful additions to your family! Remember, adopting a dog means committing to them for life. If you're interested in adopting Jazz and Wobbles, please don't call. Instead, fill out an online application on 4 Paws Animal Rescue's website at www.4pawz.org. We check the care history of past and current pets to ensure the best homes for our animals. We reserve the right to approve or deny applications based on what's best for the pets. #lovedogsforever #yorkiemix #littledogs #dogrescue #dogs #rescueismyfavoritebreed #dogsareacommittment #rescuedog #lovedogs #adopt #adoptdontshop
