Story
Freddie is a senior (born approx 2.1.17) neutered male Akita. He is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, on flea/heartworm prevention, house trained, crate trained, and leash trained. This sweet guy came to us from a shelter in North Carolina after he was found running stray. It's clear from the fly damage on his ears, being underweight, having a horrible urinary tract infection, and being heartworm positive, that Freddie hasn't had the best life up until now. With the help of antibiotics, medication for his low thyroid, and plenty of TLC, he's really starting to feel better, is putting on weight, and has even tried to play with his foster. He LOVES going for walks! He is non-reactive to other dogs, not seeming to even care of they're around.

Not good with kids, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained,
Story
Yuji ("brave second son") is a 2-year-old male (neutered) American Akita. He currently lives in a suburban area with myself, my husband, and our 6-year-old son. We are looking to find him a new home based on a few behavioral and breed-specific behaviors that we are no longer able to manage well. Yuji has a confident and dominant personality. Like most Akitas, he is loyal, silly, and loving with his family, but will show dominance, which is an issue with our young son. He is wary of strangers, and has shown resource guarding on occasion. Yuji is crate trained, housebroken, and well-behaved in the house. We have had success with trainers (our trainer is offering free sessions to Yuji's adopters!), but Yuji will need an experienced owner that knows working breeds. Yuji is smart and knows his commands, including "place." He walks well on leash, but is reactive (especially to loud trucks, bicycles, and runners). Fee is listed to encourage well-meaning adopters.

Good with kids,
Story
Sophia was born in Ohio and came from a pure breeder. Sohpia loves spending time with people, playing with toys, and long car rides. Her interactions with other animals are very minimal and it’s recommended that she’s the only pet of the household. Sophia prefers to be indoors but also loves a fenced in yard so she can exert her energy. All of her shots are up to date and she is neutered. It breaks my heart having to get rid of her but she deserves more attention than we can provide at the time.
