Story
Hi there, I'm Ora! I'm a lively lady with a spirit that's always ready for fun. I've got energy to spare and I'm always ready to play. But don't get me wrong, I also love cuddling up for a good nap. I've got a lot of love to give, but I get a little lonely when I'm left alone. I'm seeking a adopter who loves to play as much as I do and who won't leave me by myself for too long. Why should you adopt me? Because I promise to fill your life with joy, laughter, and lots of tail wags. I can't wait to meet you! ADOPTION FEE $86.00 (cash only) Includes: Neuter, DHPP and Bordatella Vaccinations, heartworm test, General Deworming, and Microchip. Story
Almost Home believes that every animal deserves a loving home regardless of appearance, age, or physical limitation.  We have come together to give animals in need the safe and happy life they all deserve.  Almost Home Animal Rescue believes that no animal is expendable.  Adopting a friend:The animals, lucky enough to find refuge with Almost Home, are all in loving foster homes. If you are interested in the possibility of giving one of the animals a new lease on life, please contact us. The contact information is listed at the end of each biography.  What you need to do to adopt:If you would like to adopt a pet in need from Almost Home, basically, an application must be filled out. We will check two personal references and a vet reference. If you are approved for adoption, there is a trial period of about one week to make sure this is the animal for you and you are the person for the animal. Along with the trial period, a contract must be signed that basically states that if ever you cannot keep the animal that you must return the animal to Almost Home. Last but not least, a home check will be done. Meet & Greets:An approved application is required. This does not mean that you have to adopt but that you are approved to do so if everything works out. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  *Due to rescuer being very ill, all her dogs are in desperate need!!!   Meatball puts the M in front of HUNK! This big ball of bulldog love is ready to plow right into your couch (and your heart). Meatball loves to flop around in the water and bask in the morning sun. He sticks to his routine and struts his stuff on the way out the door with more personality than you’ve seen in most people! Meatball found himself in a new exciting place when his owner needed a dog sitter while going out of town but he loved watching the pigs and splashing in the puddles at the ranch so much he couldn’t be convinced to leave! He loves everybody but does enjoy leaning on and hugging his pals, so he would do best in a home that doesn’t have small children or older family members. Meatball is just an all around happy guy that is searching for his forever. A good balance between quiet couch potato-ing and long walks with a harness and some guidance (or anything to splash around in) is all you need to keep this Meatball happy! *Guest Posting If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. To fill out an application, go to www.almosthometn.org. If you can't get it to work, let us know and we will send it to you in a different format. Adoption fee $150.ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee for a cat is $85. The adoption fee for a kitten is $100. The adoption fee does include the kittens being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. The adoption fee for a dog is $200. The adoption fee for a puppy is $250. The adoption fee does include the puppies being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. Mature pet adoption fees are sometimes reduced. The adoption fee for pure bred dogs and cats will vary due to health and age of pet. This helps support our ill animals and our mutts that get left in the system longer. We do reserve the right to change the fees higher or lower due to the circumstance of the animal but what was stated above are the usual adoption fees.  Microchipped pets will have a higher adoption fee.  Our adoption fees do not cover the cost of the vetting and care the animal has received with us and if it ever does, the money just goes back it to helping other animals in need. March 25, 2024, 11:52 am

Story
Nessie is looking for a sweet family to love her. She is a beautiful and loving American bulldog with a great temperament. We got her with the plan of purchasing land and building a home. Unfortunately that has not happened and with our current yard she gets zero exercise. She needs a yard to play in! We have no option of a fence with unaccepting neighbors so she is either in her kennel, on a short walk on a leash or on her runner. She is very loved and cared for but deserves so much better than what we can possibly give her in the near future. After a year, we have finally come to the conclusion that it’s not happening realistically for atleast another year. By that time it will be completely unnecessary and heartbreaking. She does great with our 4 kids and their small purse dogs as well as a cat and chickens. Super fun with a lot of energy and not much acknowledgment of her size. I believe she is somewhat house trained but I haven’t given her the chance to prove it so it’s unclear.

Story
Pax came to us from a multiple-dog family, so he is good with other dogs. He's also great with the children in his foster home. He's looking for a forever home . . . how about yours? He is food motivated and an enthusiastic student when training. He rides comfortably in a car, is house trained, crate trained and leash trained. He has been surrounded by a loving foster family but his public exposure has been limited. Obedience classes would be great once he's comfortable in a new environment. They would reinforce the training he's had, and would widen his world, showing him unknown humans are a source of positive attention and rewards. Story
Currently located in: Winterport, ME Adoptable in: All continental 48 United States (transport is available anywhere!) Good with dogs: Yes! As always, slow introductions are needed. Good with cats: No, she doesn't understand what cats are. Good with kids: Yes, as always adult supervision is always required when kids are present! House trained: Yes! She will just need time to adjust to your routine! Crate trained: Yes! She loves her crate! Please Note: We are quick (usually 3-5 days to be fully approved!) to respond to applications and complete the adoption approval process. Please only apply if you are ready to take home your new pet quickly. Meet Tia! Tia is an approximately 1-2 year old American Bulldog/Lab mix pup. She was found roaming the streets and was brought to a very high kill shelter in GA. Tia was used for breeding and her last litter of puppies were sold off at 3-4 weeks old. Tia came to the shelter, full of milk that was hardening up, she was severely underweight and full of worms. She also had sores all over her body. This poor baby was severely neglected. Her time was up at the shelter and she was set to be euthanized when Whiskers Fund stepped in to save her beautiful soul. Now that Tia is back to being healthy, she is starting to show us her personality. Tia is VERY smart. She knows lots of commands like sit, stay, beg, load up and she is easy to train. This girl is pretty much perfect. She does very well in the car.... as long as she is NOT crated in the car. She will let you know her displeasure of being crated in the car and would prefer to ride shotgun or at least in the back seat- I mean who can blame her! Tia has shown a bit of separation anxiety, but that has gotten better since she has left the shelter and we believe will continue to improve as she settles into her forever home. Tia has a fair amount of energy and she really just wants to do whatever you are doing. If you are playing, she wants to play, if you are hanging and watching TV, well she is hanging and watching TV with you. Tia really just wants to always be with you, whether you are headed out on an adventure or staying home and cuddling up on the couch or in bed - so if you’re not into dogs on the fur-niture, she might not be the dog for you. If you think you are the right match for her, please apply to adopt here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScq8ShXPVGLfrGHlIYMk0plgI_PJxOEMdr8QItpQMXYCnluvg/view-form The adoption fee is $550. All of our animals are fully vetted before going to their furever homes. They are spayed/neutered, current on vaccines, dewormed, up to date on flea/tick prevention, heartworm prevention, and microchipped! Please Note: All animals are posted until they are officially adopted. This animal may have other interested adopters in line. We are very quick to respond and process applications! You will be required to provide 2 non family personal references, a home video tour and a vet reference if you’ve previously had animals. Please feel free to send video to our email or facebook upon submitting an application, this lets us know you are serious and ready but also helps us to get you approved quickly. We will text and or call upon receiving your application to schedule a phone interview. You must be an approved adopter in order to go on meet and greets. This saves everyone’s time- especially our gracious foster families! This also allows for you to take the animals home from the meet and greet if you so choose. Interested in fostering? We would love to have you join our family! Fill out the same application above- we have our fosters go through the same process as adopters! Questions? Please email whiskersfunds@gmail.com or message us on facebook! For more photos, or information on upcoming adoption events where you can meet them, please go to our Facebook page www.facebook.com/whiskersfund Thank you for helping to save lives!
