Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Cara (GA), who has been with foster in the northeast for some time. We just don't understand why she isnt with her forever family yet! When Cara was first rescued, she was a big deal. She was so little and her poor jaw was broken and she suffered other wounds resulting in reconstructive surgery which was quite successful! She almost lost her life but the amazing thing is .... with love and care, she did not. Cara has such a beautiful smle! She is up to date  on core vaccines, spayed, chipped and as of Jan 2026 just over two years old now. Cara (GA)  is a total sweetheart who adores people of all ages and gets along wonderfully with other dogs, big or small. We aren't sure why she has been waiting so long for her forever home because she is one beautiful package! Snuggle time? Yes please! She is house and potty trained and sleeps soundly through the night. She’s also incredibly smart and eager to learn, always ready to show off her manners for a treat or two. She loves making new dog friends, hanging out with kids, being told she’s a good girl, and—most of all—snuggling. Cara would thrive in an active home, especially one with kids who want a playful, affectionate buddy. If you’re searching for a loving, gentle, snuggable companion who will adore you endlessly, Cara just might be your perfect match. Ready to give this sweet girl the happy ending she deserves? Apply to adopt Cara (GA) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org. Cara's adoption fee is $500. We adopt VA to ME. www.rescuedogsrocknyc.orgPlease be sure to reference this pet's name as Cara (GA) in case of duplicate names within the rescue. Thank you!RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue.  All pets are also current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. This stunning boy is Justus, a Pit mix born in 2015, who came into rescue from Texas - found  chained, with no fur, eyes filled with mucus, skin raging from infection from neglect and abuse, unable to use his back legs and left on a blanket to die. An MRI determined that blunt force trauma caused a fracture to his spine that was never treated. With intensive physical therapy, our strong-willed warrior with the now-gorgeous coat is running, playing and ready for a home of his own!  Justus absolutely adores his humans, including older children, but needs to be the only pet in his home. And he is reactive to loud noises, so his home should be in a quiet suburb with a yard. He is neutered and up to date on vaccines. If you are the special someone who can finally show Justus what it’s like to be loved unconditionally, never to be abandoned or mistreated ever again,  please fill out an adoption application here! Http://www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org     RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue.  All pets are also current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption. Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Samson (GA) is a male Pit Bull Terrier mix estimated to be 6 weeks old at the time of intake in early February 2025. Samson is up to date on core vaccinations and is microchipped. He will be neutered prior to joining his forever home unless there is a medical reason why it has not yet been completed (in which case RDR NYC will work with the adopter to ensure this is done at the appropriate time). Samson is good with people of all ages and other dogs. This happy guy was rescued from an apartment where he had been abandoned to fend for himself. Fortunately, Samson was rescued from the apartment and brought to a shelter. His story doesn't end there, though. The shelter was going to euthanize Samson because he had ringworm! Well, not today . . . Samson is now a Rescue Dogs Rock guy, that ringworm was treated and he's now on the road to happiness! Samson is not a city type of guy; he prefers a quiet suburb or country life. Samson is handsome, sweet, adorable and friendly. If that's what you're looking for in a friend, look no further, here he is! His adoption fee is $575. Please apply online to adopt Samson (GA) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org. Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Mindy (TN) is a female Pit Bull Terrier blend who came to rescue incredibly skinny, heartbreakingly so. She was estimated at the time of intake in Jan 2023 by our veterinary partner to be 4 years old at that time. Mindy is good with people and other dogs, is up to date on core vaccines, and has been microchipped. The face on this beautiful pup tells the sad story of Mindy's life. We found her in the euthanasia room of a kill shelter just minutes away from losing her life because she was suffering from a painful, itchy skin infection that was ravaging her body.  We immediately pulled Mindy from the jaws of death, and now her face will soon be smiling at her promising future. Mindy is such a sweet girl, and she would love to share her future with you! (But no cats in this pup's future, please!) This beautiful girl is  50 lbs of love & snuggles! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Beau (SC) is a 70 lb. neutered male Pit Bull Terrier mix. Our veterinary partner estimated that Beau was 2 years old at the time of intake in September 2021. Beau is a super sweet, gentle, friendly boy who is good with people. Although Beau loves children, he's a big guy who doesn't know his own strength, so he would do best with teens and older.  This beautiful boy was shot in the mouth while a drug warrant was being served; fortunately, the bullet lodged in Beau's neck in a spot that is not causing any pain or limitation. It was determined that it's best left there as the surgery to remove it is dangerous.  Beau is a couch potato and LOVES to cuddle, is completely housebroken, enjoys car rides and does not chew or destroy anything (except for his toys which he loves to remove squeakers from). Beau would be perfect for a person or couple that doesn’t have other animals or has one submissive female (the only type of dogs he seems to get along with). He needs to be the center of attention so he can get all the love and attention he deserves. Beau is reactive to other dogs, so walking can be a bit challenging (he has a loud bark). Having a fenced in yard would be a plus.  Beau can truly be your forever, loyal best friend if you crave pure unconditional love.  You will be blessed to encounter this special guy.  If you would like to star in Beau's new, improved life, please apply online to adopt Beau (SC) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org.  ************************************************************************RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue.  All pets are also current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. Story
ALL our cats and dogs are in the NY area but can be adopted out of state to the purrfect furever home.  In some cases, we can help transport.  Zani's al fresco Summer Adoptions  follow us on FB to find us this summer as we will try new locations to meet the needs of NYC and support the little stores:)     All dogs are located in NY/NJ area All our puppies need puppy play dates/doggy facetime so we recommend homes with other pups or daily interactions to keep them tired out, happy and social.     Facebook: Zani's Furry Friends ZFF (weekly adoption event info posted there) Twitter: zanisff  Instagram: zanisfurryfriends  Sweet 14weeks old Punch is name after Punch the Monkey.      Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, Rabies vaxed, and microchipped (not Lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it!)  All are in the NY/NJ area but we will adopt out of state to the purrfect home and in some cases, we can arrange transport.  Please go to our site  https://zanisfurryfriends.org  fill out an application  Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent--please ask by writing us at dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.   Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate! If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Our weekend locations are: Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent  Follow us on FB, Zani's Furry Friends ZFF, for latest updates. Usually we are in our foster homes so all this is a bit more stressful but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer. And you can always donate:) Cats and Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD w/ all age appropriate shots and microchipped. Cats are feline combo tested for FIV/FeLV; dogs are heartworm tested and rabies vax'd, (NOT lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it); rabbits are spayed/neutered. Please fill out an application and email to: For Cats: cats@zanisfurryfriends.org For Dogs: dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org For Rabbits: nyc.acc.rabbits@gmail.com. Please visit our website zanisfurryfriends.org.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Spanky (SC) is a male Boxer mix rescued in South Carolina. Our veterinary partner estimates that Spanky is 8 years old at the time of intake in April 2022.  Spanky's life was on hold while he languished in a kill shelter with a large tumor on his back.  As soon as we found out about Spanky, we pulled him out and sent him to our veterinary partner where the tumor was removed.  He is doing great now with his foster and is ready for a forever home! Spanky is good with people and other dogs.  He is very sweet, loving, and alert.  He loves peanut butter, toys, and spending time in the sun.  He takes a toy to bed with him each night.  He also enjoys running around the yard.  This boy is super sweet and friendly, and his tail never stops wagging!  He deserves to live the rest of his life in a happy, loving home. If you have room in your heart for Spanky, please apply online to adopt Spanky (SC) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org.   RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue.  All pets are also current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption. Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 10, 2026, 12:51 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. What’s not to love about Sable (SC)? That wrinkly little face? Her adorable underbite? One look and you’re done for.Sable is a 6-7 year old, female Boxer mix rescued in South Carolina as a stray. It’s clear life hasn’t always been kind to her—but you’d never know it from her heart. She loves everyone she meets: adults, kids, other dogs, and even cats! Sable hands out kisses freely to everyone - big or small. She happily joins group hugs and strongly prefers to sleep wherever her humans are—bed, couch, crate… as long as she’s close. She’s housetrained, sleeps through the night, walks beautifully on leash (politely ignoring critters). In other words: sweet, easy, affectionate perfection.Sable has been patiently waiting for her forever home, but we think it’s finally her time to find a family of her own. If you have room in your heart (and on your couch), apply to adopt Sable (SC) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.orgRDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue.  All pets are also current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here.
