Story
Hey friends! My name is Rocco and here's more about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Staffordshire Terrier mix Age: 4 years 4 months approx.  Gender: Male Weight: 44lbs (20 kg)  Current Location: Guadalajara Mexico RESCUE STORY - My name's Rocco and I'm a survivor! My first few years were marked by abandonment as I was left to fend for myself on the busy streets of Guadalajara, Mexico. I spent my days begging strangers for scaps and sipping from toilet bowls (an acquired taste). I was living a bustling gas station which was a rather dangerous environment for me to be in and I was found with several nasty lacerations on my body to prove it. When some kind souls finally rescued me from this perilous existence, my journey to healing began! Over the course of a year, my frail figure and broken soul slowly mended and I was able to pull off a great transformation - not just of the physical kind, but of my spirit as well! My exuberant and loving personality began to show and I started to reflect and return all the heartfelt affection of the people who gave me a second chance at life. My rescuers say my progress towards being the incredible pup I am today is testament to the healing power of love! TEMPERAMENT - I am verrrrry loving and deeply enjoy the company of humans. This also means I can be quite bouncy and energetic around people and I do well with boundaries to remind me that I can't give you hugs ALL the time (dang!). I play well with other dogs too although I can be reactive to some male dogs who try to dominate me and would do well with a family who is willing to work on this with me. Luckily for you, my foster family says I am very obedient, smart, and responsive to training...I've learned several commands in training school! I am also the perfect mix of energetic/playful while outside and calm while at home. If you choose to add me to your life I will repay you 1000x with all the kisses and love in the world! ENERGY LEVEL - Moderate GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – I am friendly and sweet with older children but can be rambunctious so supervision and an assertion of boundaries is recommended - see here (this is because I don't know my own strength and can be bouncy - for this reason I wouldn't do well in a home with younger children).  Dogs – I do well with other non-dominant dogs (see here and here) but can play a littttle rough (that rambunctiousness again!). I can be reactive to dominant male dogs and would do well with an owner who is willing to work on this with me.  Cats – Unknown  PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – My rescuers say I am great with my leash skills as you can see here, however I may need some additional patience and training. House trained – My rescuer says I am doing very well with this but I may need some additional training and patience.  Crate trained – My rescuer says this is going well but I may need some additional training and patience.  Car rides – I can get nervous in a car and may need some additional training to help me relax and enjoy this relatively new experience. I have been enrolled in training and I know some commands like 'sit', 'stay' and 'no'. I am a very smart boy if I say so myself! Please Note: WCP Dog Rescue partners with Unleashed Dog Training (Hannah Swain, Balanced Dog Trainer) to offer adopters 50% off one training session (not including tax and applicable gas surcharges). Any subsequent sessions will be offered at standard rates. WCP also highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.  HEALTH NOTES: I have a few small scars on my body from some old wounds - one medium sized scar is on my leg.  I am neutered and vaccinated. NOTE: dogs from Guadalajara are not microchipped. NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter. ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $650.00 CAD + applicable taxes, which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and it's adoption process. The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live.  WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed. Hellooooo out there!! My name is Gizmo and here's my deets: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Staffordshire terrier/Lab mix (just a guess!) Age: 7.5 months approx. Gender: Male Weight: 36lbs (16 kg) Current Location: Baja Mexico RESCUE STORY - Like my super sweet sis, Gucci, I was found abandoned as a tiny pup with all my siblings! You can imagine that we were quite a sight for sore eyes at the time. Thankfully, some pretty nice hoomans took us in and cleaned us up and now I'm ready to find my furever home in the Pacific Northwest with you!! Whaddya say?! TEMPERAMENT - The kind hoomans at the shelter say that I am quite the 'mellow fellow', even as a puppy! What an awesome trait to have. I'm also a very good boy on a leash and I looooove affection and giving hoomans hugs and kisses (my ruff beginnings didn't break my soul one bit!!). I would make the ultimate cuddle bud and would do well in a family that enjoys taking me for a stroll and then snuggling up on the couch (so basically, almost anyone!).  ENERGY LEVEL - Low/Moderate GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Unknown Dogs – Yep!! I get along just fine with other dogs.  Cats – No thank you! PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – These are a work in progress but I'm doing pretty good! My adopter must be willing to provide me with some training and patience :)  House trained – This is a work in progress and may need some additional training and patience.  Crate trained – This is a work in progress and may need some additional training and patience.  Car rides – This is a work in progress and may need some additional training and patience.  Please Note: WCP Dog Rescue partners with Unleashed Dog Training (Hannah Swain, Balanced Dog Trainer) to offer adopters 50% off one training session (not including tax and applicable gas surcharges). Hiya out there!! My name is Gio and here's the stuff you wanna know: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Staffordshire terrier mix  Age: 8 months approx. Gender: Male Weight: 44lbs (20kg) Current Location: Baja Mexico RESCUE STORY - Friends, seriously...can you believe I was found abandoned and left to fend for myself with my eight litter mates?! I mean ME? I'm the perfect little gentleman! Anyway, I can't let that get me down now can I? I've since been picked up by some nice two-legged friends down in the Baja and I've been told I've maintained my spirit of resilience and tranquility (Ommm). I'm a super chill dude and I'm always ready for love and cuddles. I make a loyal and fun-loving companion and would fit perfectly into a family who is looking to add a calm, affectionate four-legged companion to the mix.  TEMPERAMENT - I'm super loving, laid-back, charming (if I say so myself) and loyal to my hoomans. I just really appreciate any love and affection I get and I would love to pay it back tenfold if you'll let me! I have a nice, balanced energy level so I'd do equally well oot and aboot and playing with other doggos as I would do chilling at home and watching Pupflix with you. Really I can do it all!  ENERGY LEVEL - Moderate GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Yes I'm good with older kids as you can see here (I haven't been tested with younger kids) Dogs – Yep!! I get along just fine with other dogs.  Cats – I seem okay with cats (see here) but can be tested further PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. Hola amigos!! My name is Gus and you can find out more about me here: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Staffordshire terrier mix  Age: 8 months approx. Gender: Male Weight: 43lbs (20kg) Current Location: Baja Mexico RESCUE STORY - My start to life was less than stellar! My previous family decided they didn't want me and my eight siblings anymore so they decided to leave us out in the middle of nowhere to fend for ourselves. As you can imagine, we were NOT doing so swell (we were just wee pups after all!) but thankfully some angels came and rescued us. Now that I've had some time to recover with the hoomans, I'm ready to find a furever family of my own in the PNW. I promise we'll be the best of friends, whaddya say?!  TEMPERAMENT - Mellow as a cucumber and full of chilled-out charm, I'm guaranteed to capture your heart! Despite having a ruff start to life, I love hoomans and live for any affection that is shown to me. I also love to show it back with tonnns of hugs and kisses. I'm really an easy-going and relaxed pup who enjoys the simple things in life - toys, hoomans, other doggos...In fact, I think you and I could really hit it off! ENERGY LEVEL - Moderate GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Yes I get along fine with older children as you can see here (I have not been tested with younger children). Dogs – Yep!! Story
Love big dogs?? Keep on reading! Meet Ferdinand Blue. Estimated at 3 years old and a whopping 86 perfect for cuddling pounds. He is sooooo cuddly with people! He will lay in your lap and rub his face into you. He is such a lover boy. This larger than life fella is a stunner. His velvety blue fur is so soft and shiny-- makes you want to rub your face on it! Check out his feet-- styling with tube socks in the front and no shows in the back...lol. And his soft, gentle eyes....uff! Handsome, I tell ya! Blue isn't all looks...this guy has quite the personality. Though he's a big guy, he is a total softy-- and a sucker for little dogs! They're his favorite! He lives with multiples, and though he doesn't play with them, he will let them use him as a pillow or a bridge sometimes! They walk all over him and curl up on him for warmth, and he is there for it. Though he may look big and tough, bigger dogs intimidate him and make him uneasy. He prefers to hang with the littles. He is so patient with them and will share toys and hooves, which are his favorite! You just need to keep many of them around so that there is a hoove buffet. Plenty for everyone! He absolutely adores people-- so much! He will spin in circles out of excitement and try to greet with hugs. All that love will knock you off your feet but with a treat in hand, he is the best boy and will sit at attention and greet gently. A rub under the chin or booty scratch and he melts like butter. Once he loves, he loves hard. He may not cuddle with dogs, but he sure loves a cuddle session with his favorite humans! The way you know you have made your way to his heart is if he starts to lean in and rub his body on your legs like a cat. Now, if he brings a toy or his rope (he LOVES playing tug) and drops it at your feet, you are officially BFFs for life! Like to go on walks? So does he!! He is a perfect leash walker with a head halter, and currently goes on daily walks with his amazing foster momma. She has done an amazing job at basic training. Blue knows sit, down, "too much" with a waiving hand gesture, has excellent recall, "tst, tst" as a positive interruptor to get his attention, goes into his crate on command, and will jump in the car with a "load up". Car rides are his favorite! He will either lay full plop on the seat or stick his head out the window to entertain everyone with his lovely, flapping mouth jowls. Nothing better than having a dog that is fully accustomed to routine and crating. This big boy is very easy to manage, and thrives best with structure. He enjoys spending quiet time in his crate where he will happily wait for you to get back from work or work from home. Can't beat that! This gentle giant is very loving, but prefers a calmer, laid back home. Young active kiddos make him nervous and it will not be the best environment for him, but he loves and has lived with older kiddos, 13 & 17 year old boys, who he adored. I don't know about you, but if I didn't have a house full of dogs, I'd be ready to hit the adoption link. Don't wait too long-- a pup this amazing will not be available for long! He's currently fostered in Blaine, WA, but absolutely worth the drive for any interested adopters that live further! Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. What a great family dog this girl will make!!! She LOVES kids! Always cuddling, gentle, quiet, innocent, and does a happy dance! When out at the park she is perfectly behaved. Perfect car rider and easy to handle. Chicken LOVES kids. She recently met. a sweet 5 year old boy at the park and her eyes lit up and tail started wagging as soon as he pet her. Watch her video here: https://youtu.be/GKQsiN3-c9w?si=6BFHCePXqFsWp44L What I love about Chicken the most is how in tune she is with you when you give her attention. She will literally walk at a heel to give your hand a kiss and get a pat on the head. Her recall is amazing. She comes trotting toward you to get love. She met my five-year-old son, and acted totally comfortable around him and enjoyed getting attention from him. Chicken is a large mature girl that still has a lot of pep in her step. We think she is about 7 years old. This girl loves to run with her person. Chicken would make a great girl for a family who enjoys running, biking and hiking. This girl has not slowed down with her age nor does she look it. Chicken loves going to the river and wading in the water. She is the perfect girl to take along on adventures with. Chicken shows no signs of not being able to hang with an adventurer. She also loves being with her person, so an apartment would be okay if she got the right amount of exercise. Chicken does not want to be left alone in a yard, but to be an integral part of your life. Although she wouldn't mind sunbathing next to you in the yard on a warm day. Chicken Nugget is a confident older girl that does well with other dogs. She isn't incredibly playful but would enjoy a home with another easy going dog. Chicken Nugget is currently in Texas and ready for a virtual meet and greet. We are happy to answer any questions you might have.
