Story
Benson is an energetic  All American dog. The vet estimated year of birth is 2021. He loves people and loves attention. He walks very nicely on a leash and doesn't pull or zig zag. He would be a good running partner. He has ignored cats while out walking but hasn't been cat tested. He is very exuberant and is a lot for some dogs. He needs a good introduction with confident dogs. ~Adoption donation $300. All vetting is up to date. Microchipped and neutered. Also on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Story
Dustin recently went on a Dog Day Out and here's what his DDO buddy had to say! "Dogs Day Out with gentle Dustin was a relaxing time. This sweet boy is a 3 YO, 54 lb., American Staffordshire. He first burned off some kennel energy in the play yard and then we were off. He needed some coaxing with treats to get into the car the first time, but jumped right in next time. We hiked in Gibson Park, where we saw a Coyote run across the trail - he just quietly watched it go by. After a picnic lunch, we checked out PetSmart where he greeted everyone. He even scored a free toy from an employee! Dustin shared with me that he is: Calm and quiet during car rides. Easy to walk (see videos). Friendly towards people and non-reactive towards other dogs. Ready for head rubs anytime. Treat-motivated and gentle with them. Well-behaved in a public setting. Sporting some soulful eyes. Dustin will benefit from a fenced yard where he can roam and then be ready for snuggles. He's also a great walking/hiking buddy. Come by Guilford County Animal Services from 12-4:00 any day but Tuesday to meet and adopt this gentle boy." As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!

Story
Hi there, I'm Lottie! I'm a young, sweet, and curious gal. I'm a bit shy at first, but once I get to know you, my goofy and energetic side shines through. I love exploring new things and I'm smart too! I've mastered the art of 'sit' and 'stay', and I'm working on 'fetch'. I'm a bit scared sometimes, but with a little patience, I'm sure to warm up. I'm also quite the comedian, my funny antics are sure to keep you entertained. Why should you adopt me? Well, I'm full of love and promise to bring joy and laughter into your life. Bonus: I love other dogs of all ages and sizes of humans. Not sure about cats. I do need a fenced-in yard and another dog. Come meet our adoptable dogs on Saturdays from 11am to 1pm in the backyard at AARF's new location- 302 Thurston St, W-S. Go to AARFWS.org to view and apply for our AARF dogs. Information about the process is available on our website. Remember that we do not adopt more than a 45-minute radius from our facility in Winston Salem.

Story
Roxana aka "Roxy" lives up to her obvious bully roots - a social butterfly who wants nothing more than to be close to her people and pet friends - preferably playing, sniffing, fetching or chasing. Her full body 'tail' wiggle will melt your heart, and if that doesn't do it - just wait until you see her slowly scoot her butt closer... closer...closer! until she's pressed right up next to you. Roxy is an extrovert - and she will definitely thrive with a family, older pup siblings and/or someone who works from home. That said, on her own she can be a little timid. At this point at least, Roxy is NOT a good candidate for day-time crating or long stretches alone. Though she may need company, she does NOT need constant attention or supervision like some pups. As a baby, Roxy is of course monitored at all times - but she is so good that she already has free range of the house with no issues. As long as she know where her pack is, she is pretty content to hang out and busy herself quietly with a chew or a kong for hours. She has yet to show any of that dangerous-get-into-everything-then-chew-it curiosity. BUT, when you're ready for P-L-A-Y, so is she - and you are in for a treat! Roxy is just plain ol' FUN (and she even brings the ball back during fetch!!!). She's also a SUPER smart girl. She understood potty training right away, knows "sit" and "down," and is EXTREMELY attentive to her people. She checks in constantly and will bound full speed into your arms when you call her name. Medium energy, smart, and playful as can be, Roxy would love a home where she can romp and wiggle all day and cuddle all night (ideally with another dog or two, and very attentive people to bring out the "Bold" Roxy!)
