Story
Name: Paprika Breed: Herding mix, primarily Australian Shepherd, Australian Cattle Dog, and Mountain Cur Weight/Size: 38 lbs/Medium Age: 2.5 years old Summary Paprika is truly a remarkable dog, brimming with energy, intelligence, and affection. At 2.5 years old and weighing 38 lbs, she's a unique herding mix, primarily Australian Shepherd, Australian. She's a spirited dog who would flourish in a suburban or rural setting, ideally with a loving family and older children (10+ years old) who can manage her high energy levels. Although she may seem reserved initially, Paprika warms up quickly and forms strong bonds with those she trusts. She's a loving companion who just needs a bit of time to acclimate to new people and surroundings. Once acclimated, she is a fiercely loyal and loving dog. If I rescued Paprika at a different time in my life and had a backyard for her to play in, I would be keeping her. She is an amazing dog who would thrive and be a lot happier with more room to run.

Story
Available for foster to adopt. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the subject line CHERRY if you are interested.  Expected to Be About 55lbs  Please read everything below and submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org if this pup seems like a good fit for your family :) Heeler/Lab Mix, 9 weeks (as of 1/27/2024), 8 lbs, Spayed female We cannot guarantee breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses, though! Home Recommendation Puppies do best in homes that are ready to commit to their needs. Raising a puppy is lots of fun but we won’t beat around the bush: it’s also a lot of work. Puppies can be raised in the city or out of the city. They are very adaptable. Puppies need adopters that are full of energy themselves and can keep up with their new four legged best friend.  Level of Dog Ownership Experience Needed  CHERRY is an Intermediate level puppy. This means that ideally the adopter has primary dog ownership of a breed or energy level similar to this pup. At a minimum the adopter should have solid experience doing things like dog sitting, or fostering young dogs or dogs of a similar breed. This means that if you've only dog sat, fostered or owned a senior dog or low energy breed then this isn't the right fit for you. Adopters should have some hands-on experience with taking care of puppies and/or teenagers. Adopters should be comfortable around working breed dogs. Adopters should be ready for everything that entails raising a puppy: lots of training, patience and socialization. All puppies have the potential to develop into the goodest boys and girls but it’s in the hands of the adopter. Lastly, adopters should truly understand that a puppy is going to go through many developmental phases. Energy Level  Higher - - As an adult this pup will need a solid continuous 90 minute walk (at a minimum) in addition to potty breaks/relief walks/short walks. Working breed dogs were bred to do jobs so it’s super important to make sure that they get the right level of exercise and stimulation daily. Working breed dogs need more than just simply being “let out in the yard”.  Personality        Life of the Party - - Puppies are sweet, fun and little energizer bunnies.  Cuddle Factor High - - Most puppies love to cuddle with their humans. They are affectionate and love some good cuddles.  Potty Trained Working On This Skill - - This puppy is currently a paws off the ground puppy (hasn’t finished vaccine series). This means that if the puppy is going outside it shouldn’t be walking around. Okay to have this puppy walk around in a private outdoor area like a yard or courtyard but can’t be in a high traffic area like a park and most NYC streets. At this age puppies use pee pads. Potty training takes a lot of patience, consistency and of course cleaning up. Comfy With Strangers? Yes - - Puppies are super friendly with new people, they love to make friends. It’s super important to socialize puppies in a safe controlled environment.  Social With Children?  (ALWAYS requires supervision) Yes - - Puppies are okay for homes with respectful kids aged 6 and up. Puppies are not a good match for kids younger than 6 years old as puppies go through teething phases: which can be very intense and result in little kids getting hurt.  Social With Dogs? Yes - - Puppies have all the potential to be extremely social with other dogs. Socializing puppies with other puppies and adult dogs is a huge part of raising a puppy. It should be done in a safe and controlled environment: puppy classes and playdates with trusted dogs are a great way to do this.  Social With Cats? Yes - - Fun fact all puppies have the potential to be best friends with a cat. It’s on the adopter to help set boundaries with the cat (like not being able to chase the cat). The cat should also be a friendly cat as a puppy is not a great idea for a grumpy cat.  Mouthy Play   High - - puppies go through really mouthy phases. The mouthy phase is partly due to “teething” but also a big part of mouthy behavior is the puppy brain developing into an adult dog brain and having a need to play.  Important for adopters to be ready for this can. It can be one of the more challenging parts of puppyhood. Proper training, socialization, stimulation and boundary setting is very important for getting mouthy behavior under control. Leash Manners Will Need to Learn This Skill - - This puppy is currently an indoor puppy/paws off the ground (hasn’t finished with the vaccine series yet). But, it’s never too early to start training for leash skills. Many trainers recommend starting to train the command heel (best way to prevent pulling on the leash) from an early age. For puppies that are going to grow up to be a decent size we highly recommend investing in professional leash training from a young age (easier to teach them when they are small versus being in a position where they are dragging you down the street).  Jumping Manners Will Need to Learn This Skill - - Puppies are prone to jumping up on people when they are excited. It’s important to work on this behavior from an early age. It’s cute when they are little but not so much when they are full grown. Good habits start early. Separation Anxiety Medium - -  Most puppies have some level of separation anxiety as they learn to self soothe. Often they cry the first 10 ish minutes when they are first left alone or being crated. It’s super important to leave your puppy home alone every single day so that they can practice this skill and grow their self confidence.  Medical Status Up to date on their DHPP and Bordetella Vaccine. Adopters will need to finish the DHPP vaccine series and administer the Rabies vaccine at 16 weeks of age. Spayed(females)/Neutered (males) and microchipped. De-wormed upon intake.  How Did They End Up With Social Tees Animal Rescue? This pup was originally left anonymously at a high volume shelter in TN where they were at risk of euthanasia. Our rescue partner based down there pulled this dog, had the initial veterinary care done, and transported them to NYC. While in Social Tees care, they are kept in attentive and loving foster homes. Many dogs are rescued from the south because the pet overpopulation problem there is much worse than it is in the northern parts of the country. This seems to be because far fewer people are having their pets spayed/neutered in the south, the climate is warmer so animals are reproducing year round, and the human population in these areas is less dense so there aren't enough people to adopt them. In NYC and the surrounding area, we have a large human population, which in turn means the animals find forever homes at a higher rate up here. :)

Story
Please read everything below and submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org if this pup seems like a good fit for your family :) HARRIS is arriving to NYC on 2/17/24. They are available for foster to adopt starting that day. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the subject line HARRIS if you are interested.  HARRIS - Cattle Dog Mix, 3 years, 51lbs, Neutered  We cannot guarantee breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses, though! Please read everything below and submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org if this pup seems like a good fit for your family :) Home Recommendation We don’t know everything about this pup as they will be arriving soon. Most often our adult dogs do great in the city after a few days of adjusting to a new environment. Adult dogs are a great option for adopters who are more “green”, first time adopting or fostering. We recommend starting with an adult dog. They are much more manageable.  It’s so much fun to see their personality come out as the days go by.  Level of Dog Ownership Experience Needed HARRIS  is an Intermediate level adult dog. This means that ideally the adopter has primary dog ownership of a breed or energy level similar to this dog. At a minimum the adopter should have solid experience doing things like dog sitting, or fostering dogs of a similar breed. Adopter should be comfortable with taking care of this breed or similar breeds. .  Energy Level  Higher - - This dog will need a solid continuous 90 minute walk (at a minimum) in addition to potty breaks/relief walks/short walks. Working breed dogs were bred to do jobs so it’s super important to make sure that they get the right level of exercise and stimulation daily. Working breed dogs need more than just simply being “let out in the yard”.  Personality        Since these dogs are arriving soon we don’t have tons of information on their personalities. But we know that this dog is friendly with humans and other dogs. Our rescue partner does an incredible job of sending us the most awesome dogs :)  Cuddle Factor Medium - - It’s fair to expect that most adult dogs are going to be a medium level of cuddly. Some are more cuddly for sure. But medium is about the average. This means that usually they enjoy a good cuddle session but are also happy to be on their own (don’t need to be velcroed to you at all times).  Potty Trained Yes - - Our adult dogs that come to us are usually potty trained. But, transitional accidents are super common. So you should be ready for a “transition week” as they get used to your schedule and their new environment. We suggest finding dirt, grass or gravel for them to do their business on (they are coming from the south) and keeping them on a set potty schedule. Comfy With Strangers? Yes - - Most of our adult dogs are comfy with new people. But just like people, each dog has their level of extrovertness. We always like to remind people to go slow and let the dog take the lead with meeting new people!  Social With Children?  (ALWAYS requires supervision) Not Sure - - Our adult dogs do best with homes with kids that are respectful and aged 8 and up. Little kids can be scary to a lot of adult dogs.  Social With Dogs? Yes - - We know that this dog is good with other dogs. But, every dog has their own version of how much they want to engage with another dog. For example not every dog is going to love the dog park. It’s important to keep social interactions brief at first and work your way up as you get to know the dog more.  Social With Cats? Not Sure - - We do not know if this dog is good with cats. Better to air on the side of caution and say no. If you’re obsessed though and are an approved adopter please email us and we’ll see if we can cat test them prior to their arrival :)  Mouthy Play   Lower - - Most adult dogs aren’t super mouthy. But this can vary, sometimes they weren’t fully trained out of their mouthy stage and can be mouthy when excited or wanting to play. We do suggest getting some good bones and things for them to be able to chew on as it is a great stress reliever during transitions.  Leash Manners Working on This Skill - -  Most of our adult dogs have to work on this skill. They are coming from the South where often they aren’t fully leash trained and not to mention they now have to deal with all of the variables of living in a city. We suggest keeping your dog on a short leash as you get to know them. We are huge advocates of teaching your dog heel, its a great way to make sure that the dog isn’t pulling you down the sidewalk.  Jumping Manners Low - - Most adult dogs are pretty good about not jumping up on humans when they are excited. But, you might have to work on this with them.  Separation Anxiety Lower - -  Most adult dogs are pretty good at being left home alone. We suggest leaving them home alone for a short amount of time (at least 10 minutes)  and see how it goes and build from there. Transitional separation anxiety can be common. Many times we hear from our fosters that the first few times they leave their dog home alone they do cry but it disappears pretty quickly the more often they do this.  Medical Status Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella Vaccine and Rabies Vaccine. Heartworm Negative, Spayed(females)/Neutered (males) and microchipped. In NYC and the surrounding area, we have a large human population, which in turn means the animals find forever homes at a higher rate up here. :) PLEASE NOTE: This animal is not at the Social Tees office — all of our dogs and cats are in foster homes while they wait to find their forever families. :) If you’d like to apply to adopt this pet, please complete an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Because we are a small team and receive hundreds of applications each week, we are unable to respond to every application and every inquiry email, but we do our best. Story
Yuba, Dooba, Doo! Say hello to Yuba, a 5-year old, 23-pound Australian Cattle dog/Beagle mix who is housebroken, an avid power-walker, and good on a leash! Still in the prime of her life, Yuba is equal parts active and chill. She loves chewing on bones, playing fetch, and flinging her toys around for amusement. She also loves time on the couch where she can be cuddled, snuggled, and pet. She likes being close to her humans and will actually attempt to drape her body over yours, if she can! A good eater, Yuba enjoys mealtime and treat time, and is very respectful around food. She is terrific in a car, preferring a window seat of course, and is happy to go wherever you steer the ship. She seems unfazed by strangers and other dogs, and can likely adapt to a variety of living situations. Yuba has no reaction if you touch her food or toys, and she allows all manner of petting and handling. Basically, she’s as sweet as can be! She just wants to give and receive love, and she’ll stare deeply into your eyes like you’re her absolute idol. If you’ve been looking for that one special dog with whom to share your life, Yuba crazy to let this one go! ;-) If you would like to adopt this wonderful dog, please email rescue@pupstarzrescue.org or visit www.pupstarzrescue.org for an application! www.pupstarzrescue.org Please Follow us on Instagram: @pupstarzrescue Like us on FaceBook! www.facebook.com/PupStarzRescue PupStarz rescue cannot guarantee the breed, size, temperament or age of any dog.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. CHIP was saved from a kill shelter in Georgia and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024. CHIP is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped with 24PetWatch. He has an estimated date of birth of 26 March 2023 and in April 2024 weighed 28 pounds. We have no way of knowing the breed, it is up to individuals to look at the pictures and videos to make up their own mind. CHIP is adorable, smart, high energy, loving, affectionate, fun, goofy and did I mention high energy? He shares a kennel with two dogs that came from Oman and has been great in helping them adapt and has been teaching them how to play, wrestle and enjoy toys - something they had not experienced before. Chip is true to his breed in that he can be a little mouthy and he does like to let you know how he is feeling when you are not paying him the attention he deserves and thinks he needs lol. Chip needs an active family and one that understands the breed and that they are a herding breed, they can get nippy if they are not taught to not do that. He is super smart, a lot of fun and will learn quick and will be the best companion to the right family. Mojo was found as a stray and we made every effort to find his owners but to no avail. He is an Aussie mix and of course with the breed comes high activity. I will say that he loves his down time though! He is NOT an apartment dog. He needs a good sized fenced yard. He is not great in a crowd of dogs but will do well with a sister or brother to play with. He hasn't been tested with cats so we don't know about that. The vet believes his age to be about 6 years. He's neutered, vaccinated, crate trained and heart worm negative. He is more than ready for his forever home! ADOPTION FEE $400 PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION!

Story
This precious girl came from one of the worst hoarding situations that we have ever dealt with. there were over 100 dogs on the property, none of them spayed or neutered. Finally, the authorities went in and they managed to get ALL of the dogs out of there. Filthy dirty situation, sick puppies, you name it. We choose to take Blossom home to our rescue because her eyes were begging us for love and attention. She was very pregnant and two weeks after arriving, she gave birth to 7 heathy puppies! Every single puppy was different, every singe puppy had a different daddy! We think that Blossom had never been paid any attention to because she was so shy. Once we weaned her babies we took her out of the nursery and into the house where she just blossomed! That's how she got her name! Her puppies have long since been adopted and now it's her turn. We actually did a DNA on her and it came back with 4 different breeds, which we kind of figured from the beginning. Australian Cattle Dog, Labrador Retriever, Pit Bull, Boxer. Yes, she is truly a "Mutt!. She is extremely smart and will do anything for a treat. I want her to have a nice fenced yard with lots of room to run. Cattle dogs are working dogs and they need lots of exercise! She is spayed, crate trained, fully vaccinated, microchipped and house broken, truly a gem! Ready for immediate transport. ADOPTION FEE $400 PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION!

Story
Location: Korea Rescue Story: Prince Hans is a remarkable dog with an even more remarkable story. Rescued from deplorable conditions at a gas station, he endured a life of neglect, tied up and surviving on coffee and food scraps. His life took a turn for the better when a compassionate resident, who had cared for him and another dog named Sleeping Beauty, stepped in to save them from an uncertain and bleak future. Physical Description: Prince Hans is a medium-sized mixed-breed dog with striking features. His coat is a handsome blend of caramel and white, with soulful brown eyes that speak volumes of his resilience and longing for a loving home. Personality: Energy Level: Prince Hans is a calm and gentle soul, scoring a 4 on the energy scale. He enjoys a leisurely pace and appreciates a peaceful environment. Barking: You'll hardly hear a peep from Prince Hans. He's a quiet and composed companion who prefers to listen and observe. Leash Manners: After three months of dedicated training, Prince Hans has transformed from a strong leash-puller into a well-behaved walker. He now strolls calmly by your side, making walks a pleasure for both of you. Appetite: Prince Hans has a hearty appetite and eagerly devours his meals. He's not a picky eater and enjoys a well-balanced diet. Bathing: While he may not particularly enjoy bath time, Prince Hans patiently stands still. He's a cooperative dog who understands that some things are part of the grooming routine. Treats and Walks: Prince Hans lights up when it's treat time or time for a leisurely walk. These are some of his favorite activities, and you'll see his excitement shine through during these moments. Otherwise, he's content to lounge quietly and relax. Training: Prince Hans already knows commands like "Sit" and "Stay," which is a testament to his intelligence and eagerness to please. He's a quick learner and is ready to embark on further training adventures with his new family. Ideal Home: Prince Hans would thrive in a calm and loving home where he can continue to heal from his past experiences. He's a perfect fit for individuals or families seeking a loyal and low-energy companion who appreciates the simple pleasures in life. He would do well in a home with a secure yard for leisurely strolls and playtime. Adoption Notes: Prince Hans has come a long way from the gas station where he was found. He's a survivor with a heart of gold, and all he's looking for now is a forever home filled with love, patience, and understanding. If you're ready to open your heart to this resilient and gentle soul, Prince Hans will reward you with unwavering loyalty and a lifetime of companionship. Adopt Prince Hans and give him the loving family he so deserves. ALL adoptions require a completed application and final contract. Story
Hi! My name is Carla. I am one and a half years old. I am believed to be an Australian Kelpie or maybe an Australian Shepherd mix. Mainly, I am mixed with love! I am a very happy, energetic, loyal, alert, eager and extremely intelligent young girl with puppy like tendencies. Due to my breed, I am capable of untiring work and endless energy if so desired. I would fit in best with an active lifestyle that includes lots of opportunities to exercise in a large fenced-in yard where I can zip around and show off my athleticism. I can run really fast. My foster mom says I'm like a bullet when I'm running at top speed! Kelpies and Australian Shepherds prefer to have a job to do as they were created to herd sheep and cattle. I will need stimulation and small tasks to keep my mind active and my energy in check. A good job or a workout combined with the mental exercise of obedience lessons would help me be my best version of myself. The mental exercise that the training provides would be a great way to keep me happy and involved. Training me for agility, obedience and rally are some great ways to give me some exercise. Although I sound like a lot of work, I can be chill as well so don't be scared off! I would be an excellent choice for adults and/or families with older (teenage) children that love to play and keep me entertained. While I love being super energetic, I also have an "off" switch too. I'm super happy if you take me out for a run, but I will be just as happy to settle down and snuggle on the couch afterwards to watch a movie. I enjoy being walked twice a day to sniff the neighborhood and do my business. I currently know how to sit and leave it. My foster mom is teaching me some additional words and some other useful commands as well. I learn really fast!! When you meet me you will notice that I have a great smile, love being petted, enjoy fetching and chewing on tennis balls, playing tug with my rope toy, and getting belly rubs. Scratches behind my ears make me very happy as well. I apologize upfront as I can be a bit bossy with other dogs...sorry...kind of a breed characteristic, so I would prefer to be an only dog and cats make my "chase" button turn on, so best to avoid those as well. But don't worry, I can certainly fill up your home with lots of fur baby fun! If you would like to open your heart and your home to me, please email STORKWOODS@COMCAST.NET directly. This is the BEST way to get an application. I am being fostered in Middle TN but there is transport available to fabulous homes in the NE.
