Story
Princeton  1 year old neutered mini Aussie Up to date on shots Heartworm and Lyme negative Currently on Interceptor Plus heartworm prevention  Princeton is a curious and comical one year old pup in a small package. He is a mini Aussie standing just 16 inches tall and weighing 24 lbs. Princeton had very little exposure during his puppy stage in life and spent 19 days in a shelter. We have no idea what his life was like before that except that we were told he was crated most of the time. Princeton came to ASF with a urinary tract infection and reactive to being put back in his crate. He would thrash around and try to bite the person holding the collar. This is understandable since he probably got out very little at the shelter was possibly handled with some force. He is adapting quite well to his new surroundings and loves having a stable environment. He can still be reactive when his collar is grabbed, so an adopter will need to continue to work on making it a positive experience. He does this out of fear, not aggression. He now willingly goes in his crate with a treat at night or when no one is home. He might bark for a short time but quickly settles down. Princeton’s energy is infectious, and he loves to play with his foster sisters who are twice his size (although he can play rough and needs a tolerant playmate). He would excel on a farm or with an active family with a fenced yard and some playmates. Although he is small, he still has a herd drive and has not been tested with small children, cats, or other small animals. Princeton tends to jump and play nip when excited, but he is getting much better. He does not like men but will gradually warm up to them. He will growl and bark but has never tried to bite a new person. Princeton is mostly housebroken but still has the occasional accident. He gets so excited playing with his friends; that he forgets to do his business. Usually, he is very vocal and talks to you when he wants to go out. Princeton still needs some work on leash training and basic commands and would do well in obedience or agility classes. He requires ample playtime and socialization as he is still a puppy at heart. He does have some separation anxiety so having other canine companions will help. His new owner will need to have patience with him and willing to work through his few behavioral problems. Continued training will be essential. Princeton seems to get better every day. If you can open your heart to this little fellow, please fill out an application today. He is ready for his furever home. Princeton is being fostered in Milton, DE. Here is the application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to his new furever family. All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.

Please contact the foster directly at 856-275-6905 (call or text) or via email at Fureverpawsdogrescue@gmail.com&#226&#128&#139 Fur Ever Paws Dog Rescue is a small no kill rescue operating in the Delaware/Maryland area. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit that rescues and places homeless, neglected or abused dogs from high-kill shelters in the south into loving, responsible committed and permanent homes. We feel our comprehensive adoption process which includes not only taking the time to match the dog to the prospective new owner but helping to educate that owner in responsible dog care, allows us to find the best homes for our little buddies and the best companions for you! Each week we use USDA certified transports to bring dogs from high-kill shelters in the south to our fosters where they all receive the appropriate medical care and are placed in nurturing loving homes while they await placement in their forever homes. Interested in one of our dogs? Great! Now that you've seen them here, you'll need to go to our website where you'll find our list of adoptable dogs (updated every week). Then, it's just a simple process of finding a dog you're interested in and filling out an application on our site. Once we receive your application, whoever is fostering that particular dog will contact you and do a short over the phone interview to complete your application process. If everything works out, they will set an appointment with you so come out and "visit" with the dog you're interested in (we want to make sure that not only are you a good fit for the dog but that the dog will fit with you). If everything works out, you'll be able to take rover (or spot, or jax) home with you that very day. A couple of things you should know: We can't hold dogs over the phone or via email. Adoption fees vary based on breed. All of our dogs have been vet checked and dewormed (if possible due to age, additional treatment may be needed). We provide a spay or neuter voucher to all of our adopters. &#226&#128&#139 April 23, 2024, 10:51 pm

Story
This wonderful girl was part of a neglect case and was forcefully surrendered. She is such a sweetheart despite the hardship of her young life. She is friendly to everyone she meets and likes kidd. She does have the Aussie energy so will need an active family to keep her busy. She will also need all the basic general training as she was kept outside. We don't think she has ever been inside a house so it will be an adjustment for her, please be patient. She also spills her food as she was fed by having food thrown to her. She doesn't know what to do with a dog bed and is protective over any toy/treat she is given since she was never given these either. Any family will love the joy and smiles she brings as she is just happiness in a puppy body. We also use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport.

Story
Tosh is a 21 mo, 29 lb Aussie mix who is a sweetheart in the calm of our home. However, she is overwhelmed by our urban neighborhood. She barks at vehicles, pedestrians, and other dogs. She is also reactive to our 3rd flr tenant who comes through our house, so he has to text ahead whenever he comes through, which is an untenable situation for all of us. Tosh was picked up as a stray in rural TN and taken to a county shelter last summer. She was heart worm positive, so she was placed in a boarding/foster setting for the duration of her treatment. Online, her personality was described as sweet. Tosh adjusted well to our household, including our cat, but we could not walk her due to her reactivity to busy streets. She is on Prozac, and we have been following the Spirit Dog program for reactivity. Knows basic commands; no chewing; no resource guarding. Tosh is making steady progress, but our tenant cannot keep texting his every move, and she would be so much happier outside the city.
