Did my beautiful coat and striking eyes catch your attention? I'm Fern, a sweet yet reserved gal looking for a place to call my own. While it may take some time for us to get to know each other, I promise it will be worth it! I'm a bouncy and fun-loving girl at heart that's just as happy to play fetch in the yard as I am to climb in your lap. I'll need to find an experienced home with someone that understands my activity needs and is able to provide all kinds of physical and mental exercise. Stop by the SPCA if I sound like the one for you!

Story
FOSTER-TO-ADOPT HOMES NEEDED!! ***Please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form*** We would love to welcome Ava into the Fetch + Releash family April 14, 2024 subject to change. In order for Ava to come into our care, we need a committed family. As a foster-to-adopt family, you'll be expected to take him/her home on his/her arrival date. You will then have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found. Each bio was created by our rescue partners based on their interactions with the dogs. Fetch + Releash has a full disclosure policy however we cannot guarantee a dog against parasites or diseases, nor can we guarantee a dog's nature/behaviour. Many of these dogs are coming directly from the shelter and so you should expect there to be a transitional period. Be prepared to deal with common issues like potty training, leash walking, and socialization. Cat and kid safety assessments are often based on their personality and not necessarily on actual interactions. Where possible, the majority of vetting will be completed prior to coming to Canada, however, foster-to-adopt families may be required to travel to our partner vet in Mississauga, ON for further vet care. During your foster-to-adopt trial, you'll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have. Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit. Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ava / Female / 8 months / 25 pounds / Australian Shepherd Mix / from Tennessee Ava's journey started when she fell into the care of our partner at a tender 14 weeks of age. Despite her undeniable charm, she's been overlooked by local rescue partners, so now we're stepping in to make sure this loving girl finds her forever home. Since Ava has spent the majority of her young life in rescue, she hasn't had the opportunity for training. But she's a true blank slate, ready for someone committed to guiding her through the basics and beyond. As a bundle of energy, she's the epitome of a playful pup, and she thrives on both physical and mental stimulation. Multiple daily walks and engaging doggy enrichment activities are key to keeping her happy and content. Potty training, crate training and proper leash walking will only be the start of Ava's training. Play based training will help build as strong bond as well as an obedient and loyal companion. Ava's heart is drawn to the water, and she finds pure joy in playing with a hose. A dream come true for her would be a new life near a lake or joining a family with a cottage where she can splash and play to her heart's content. She's currently living alongside an older dog and has learned much from her wise companion. Ava would thrive in a home with an older, balanced dog to show her the ropes and share the joy of everyday life. Ava is adaptable and can fit into any type of living situation, as long as her exercise and mental stimulation needs are met. She's an outgoing and happy girl, always ready to brighten your day with her infectious enthusiasm and affection. Although she has not been tested with kids her temperament suggests she would get along well with dog savvy children. Are you ready to let this burst of joy become the light of your life. Ava is ready to be your loyal companion, bringing happiness and love to your days. As a condition of the adoption contract, Ava’s new family will be required to attend and complete a basic obedience class at their own cost (proof required). If you’re interested in fostering with the intention of adopting, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Ava's adoption fee is $900. Story
Electra / Female / 4 months / 25 lbs and growing / Australian Shepherd Cross / Expected to be Medium Size when Full Grown / Medium-High Puppy Energy / Good with Dogs / Good with Older, Dog Savvy Kids / Untested with Cats / From Tennessee / Fostered in Mississauga Meet Electra! This beautiful girl came to us from Tennessee to find her forever home. Electra is described by her fosters as a clever, curious and playful pup. She loves to explore, play and get attention. Between her puppy clumsiness, sass and adorable eyes, she is sure to steal your heart. Electra is very social and loves to be where her people are. She is described as super friendly to people within her home. As a puppy she is curious and enjoys meeting new people. She is beginning to show affection by cuddling and giving kisses, but offer her a belly rub and she'll be your best friend! Although Electra does not currently live with children and has not encountered any children, we think she would do well in a home with respectful, dog savvy children who understand her age and developmental stages (jumping, nipping, etc.). Electra is looking for a family that is prepared to commit to her training and development. At only 4 months old she will require a lot of attention, time and patience. She has been making great strides with her training and she is very food motivated. However, she can be stubborn so her new family may need to be creative when it comes to training! You will need to be able to be home more often than not, or prepared to hire help. With her being a blank slate it also makes her a great candidate for any type of living arrangement. A yard, or access to greenspace, will be important as she is a growing girl and an energetic breed. Electra is very dog social and loves to play with them. She would make a great second dog. Electra enjoys playing with her foster sibling and is learning boundaries as she grows. In a home with another dog, Electra's joy would know no bounds, ensuring she always has a trusty playmate by her side. Electra has not had the opportunity to meet cats yet, but given her age we think she would be ok with proper introductions. Electra has gradually been learning her skills. She has learned to sit, to come when she is called and is improving daily with her potty training. Electra loves treats and attention, so she is a quick learner. Her curiosity and cleverness makes her a joy to train. Electra loves to explore the outdoors, but is still learning to wear a harness and walk on leash. Access to greenspace and outdoor enrichment would be a dream come true for her. With her young age she can not be trusted alone yet. Electra is a mischievous puppy at heart and she can not be trusted alone yet. In true puppy fashion she's always on the lookout for new adventures. When alone, Electra is in her crate and usually settles quickly into a nap. Continuing her training and building independence will be very important in her new home. Elevate your family's joy by welcoming Electra into your home. Adopt Electra and embark on a journey of shared adventures and boundless love. As a condition of the adoption contract, Electra's new family will be required to: • Ensure they have an opportunity to go outside every 2-3 hours. If you work full-time, this means hiring a dog walker to come for a puppy visit so they are able to relieve themselves. • Attend and complete a basic obedience class at your own cost (proof required) • Provide plenty of socialization opportunities – both dog and human – it's critically important at this stage. • Electra will be up-to-date on vaccines for her age and Fetch + Releash will cover the cost of the remaining puppy boosters at 16 weeks, provided it’s done at our local vet partner in Mississauga. If you choose to finish the vaccine series at your vet you will be required to show proof of vaccination. • Electra has not been checked for heartworm and tick borne diseases which will be done at their intake appointment at our partner vet in Mississauga. Heartworm won’t be accurately checked as they do need to be 6 months for a confirmed negative result. In the event of a positive result, treatment will be covered if done at our partner vet in Mississauga. • Spay within 6 months of adoption. If done at our partner vet in Mississauga, the spay will be included in the adoption fee. If you choose to do it elsewhere, it will be done at your own cost. Proof of spay is required to finalize the adoption. If you’re interested in adopting Electra, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Electra’s adoption fee is $1000.00. Story
Bucky is a 4 year old Australian Shepherd mix. He is a little joyous ball of energy weighing around 30lbs. He goes very few places without a ball in his mouth, is incredibly athletic, and loves attention from everyone he meets. He is cat neutral, gets along great with all dogs (though dogs that want to reciprocate play will be necessary), crates wonderfully, and is potty trained with a consistent routine! Bucky came from a hoarding case in KY where someone passing themselves off as a rescue had dogs chained outside in deplorable conditions with no shelter, and eventually started dumping dogs to cover their tracks. A long time rescuer saved 60 dogs from the situation, and 2 of them made their way to us up north to search for their forever families with us! Bucky is searching for a home with children over the age of 10 and a fully fenced yard due to his energy level. He does well with dogs of all sizes, but does want to play with them all, so dogs under 20lbs and of toy stature, older dogs, or very dog-shy dogs would not be a good fit. Bucky is accepting applications and is currently available for meet and greets with approved adopters! If you’re interested in adopting him or getting pre-approved for our other dogs, please fill out the adoption application at www.RosebudRescue.com/adopt
