Story
After a long hard day, what could be better than coming home to a sweet, cuddly Guinness? No, were not talking about the Irish stout beverage! We're talking about this short and stout hippo dog! Guinness was found alone in Ryan Park by a couple Good Samaritans who brought him to the animal shelter but he was not claimed by anyone. So, what have we learned about Guinness since he's been with us? Well, we've learned that he loves toys and seems to really need play time with tough toys that he can chew on, throw around and "tackle". He enjoys "sniffari" walks where he can take his time smelling all the things! Most recently, we learned that Guinness enjoys belly flopping into big puddles! We would not necessarily describe him as high energy but he does need a moderate amount of exercise and play. Guinness has also enjoyed training and training games. He is working hard on learning that he doesn't need to jump up for attention and that when he isn't sure what to do, he can look to his person for direction and reassurance. Since we do not know anything about Guinness' life before he arrived at the shelter, we cannot be sure about how he feels about other animals or kids. Due to his wrecking ball play style, we feel he would do best in a household with kids over the age of 12. Guinness is believed to be about two years old, is neutered and up to date on vaccinations. At his most recent vet visit, we learned that one of Guinness' knee caps tends to slide in and out of place, known as luxating patella. This is not terribly surprising given his build. We are planning to have Guinness seen by a specialist for further evaluation of his knee and we will work with Guinness' adopter to try and ensure that this isn't a barrier to adoption. If you are interested in learning more about Guinness or would like to arrange a time to meet him, please call: 401-910-8999 or email: nkassf1@gmail.com

Story
We adopted Cash a little over a year ago because our first Bulldog passed away in 2021. After a year of having Cash, our schedules have gotten to the point where we cannot give him the love and attention he deserves. My husband and I both work and we own a business, unfortunately due to our schedule this leaves us not a lot of time to commit to Cash. Cash is a sweet, loving and affectionate dog. He is a total cuddle monster and if you are sitting down, he wants to be sleeping on your lap. He is a bulldog, however and that stubbornness is well and alive with this boy. He pouts if he doesnt get his way and he will be persistent with getting what he wants. He has never been aggressive to anyone, or other dogs, he just gets a little hump happy, but will stop when told. Overall we love this dog and hate to have to let him go, we just dont feel he is getting the love and attention he deserves.

Story
Meet happy, playful and goofy Marshmallow! This 46 lb. bulldog boy is super affectionate, loves to meet people, play with toys and go on adventures. Marshmallow has been down a rough road but has kept up an amazing, silly personality. Marshmallow's owner was unable to care for him, and he arrived at WARL with a significant skin infection that was painful and required lots of veterinary care, sutures, and daily treatments. It was a great day for staff and volunteers when his fur started growing back and he was clearly recovering. Words can't really describe how exceptional his resilient and kind heart shines through. Marshmallow was a gem throughout his skin care routine, and actually looked forward to being cleaned daily with medical wipes, because he knew there were some nice treats waiting for him after each step. Marshmallow is admittedly working on a humping issue, so he may be able to live with another dog, but they would have to meet first as he comes on a bit strong! Same with kids, he needs just the right energy mix. An important thing to know about this pup is that he will require several veterinary visits per year to keep current on his prescribed allergy medication. English Bulldogs have complex medical needs, and his new home has to be able to ensure that he will be able to get the continued care that he needs. That is super important for him to continue, and his new home must be able to support him with this care. Marshmallow will pay it back with lots of affection, and plenty of happy snorting bulldog noises! If you think Marshmallow would be a good fit for your home, please head to our actual website worcesterarl.org and click on his picture to fill out the Dog Adoption Inquiry Form listed below to request a meet with him. That is the first step! All adoptions are by appointment, thank you.

Story
Name: Ken Nicknames: Kenny. Kenneth. Sex: Male Breed: Bulldog mix Age: 3-4 Years Weight:~46 lbs Before OMD: Found as a stray in the city park (he was more than thrilled to hop in the car with the officer who picked him up) and brought to the shelter, who then contacted us for help. Ken was emaciated, and had two large, deep wounds on his back end. Medical: Ken was initially hospitalized, and then shortly after, had a scrotal ablation and debridement and closure of his wounds. He has healed and gained weight beautifully with frequent small, nutritious meals. Key Descriptors: Exuberant. Silly. Aggressively loving. Goofy. Sweet. Catchphrases: Sublime! I am Kenough. Energy level: Medium – likes to play, would enjoy a long hike, but is also happy to bum it around the house in his sweats. What we love: His total exuberance for life. Toys? Loves them. People? Adores them. Treats? Best thing ever invented. What makes us laugh: Watching him look out at the world from a window for hours contemplating the meaning of life. His aggressive snorts when he is sniffing around. The way he rubs his back on the underside of furniture to scratch an itch. Affection rating: 10/10 – He would like to be part of you if that was an option. Bad boy behavior: He has a proclivity to eat non-food items when trapsing around outside, i.e. pinecones, acorns, road trash. What he knows: Sit. Just sit… What he’s working on: Keeping four on the floor. Less mouthing when playing. Better leash manner (he's loud and overstimulated on leash when he sees things he's excited about). Sleeping in past 5am. Dogs: Please! He’s still learning how to dog and would benefit from another confident canine in thehouse – his size or larger, please, as small dogs are way too exciting. Cats: We think this would not go well... Kids: Older ones please. He’ll bowl small ones over without a second thought and then steal their snacks right out of their sticky little fingers. House-trained: Working really hard – does best when kept on a frequent schedule. Crate-trained: Yes, does great in his crate after some initial barking in protest of you leaving him. Ken is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative. He is available for adoption to residents of CT and surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application from omdrescue.org.

PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.2/24/24 Still available! 2/4/24 *Bonded pair*.  Shortbread (brindle) and Poundcake (brown) are absolutely precious! These little girls are 4 months old. They were surrendered to our rescue by the breeder because they both have Spina Bifida. They have no mobility issues at all- the only symptom is that they are both bladder and bowel incontinent. They will always have to wear diapers. The upside is that you don't have to worry about house training them! These are probably the easiest pups I've ever had. They don't get into things, not big chewers, easy to correct, and they love to snuggle, but if you can't snuggle, they will find a soft spot to snuggle with each other or play together. They are just as sweet as can be, and you have to admit, they are incredibly cute in their little diapers and suspenders! Even though they are still just babies, they are old souls. Despite the diapers, they are very easy to care for. We have them sleep in a crate together, without their diapers, on a grid, so their pee/poop goes under them, and they aren't sitting in it. In the mornings, they eat in their crate, then about 30 min after eating, I put their diapers on them and they come out for the day. I usually only change them one time throughout the day. Then, at night, I remove their diapers and put them back in their crates to eat dinner, and they are perfectly content to go to bed and rest for the remainder of the night. They love to go outside on nice days and explore the yard, but it should be noted that as English Bulldogs, they should never be allowed to stay outside on warm days due to their increased risk for heat stroke. They love being picked up and held or just talked to. They are very affectionate, but not at all demanding. They must be adopted together and stay together. Before applying, please think about whether you will want to deal with diapers on 2 dogs for the next 10+ years. While they are very easy, it is still a major commitment, and I don't want them to ever be separated or booted outside due to their adopter getting frustrated. So please put a lot of thought into whether you are ready for that kind of commitment. They are not free, nor will they be a deeply discounted adoption. Even though they have Spina Bifida, they are still wonderful, and I want them to go to someone who knows their worth and will love them, diapers and all. They are special to me and can stay here with me for however long it takes to find them the perfect home. Please private message for info on the adoption fee. They are up to date on vaccinations and I have had them spayed and microchipped.  Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them at one of the following times/locations. Harrisburg, PA 2am FridaysPort Jervis, NJ 5am Fridays Southington, CT 8am Fridays East Hartford, CT 11am Fridays To apply, please fill out the adoption app: https://form.jotform.com/212690945239059 email apps.aasr@gmail.com with any questions.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350.
