Story
Dog Name: Usher Breed: Bulldog mix Sex: male Age: 5-6 Weight: 60 pounds Medical Needs: none Housebroken: Yes. Potty trained. He will quietly go to the door and look at it if needs to go out. Crate trained: He does not like the crate but, willing to go in quietly with treats. It is not recommended to crate him at night. He just wants to be your snuggle buddy. Good in the car: yes first thing he does when he gets out of the house is where he has sniff out all cars and will happily jump in. Golf carts are also welcomed. He is your shotgun rider. Good on a leash: has been working on not pulling. Progressively using prong collar back into his martingale collar. So far, he has only pulls cause he wants to get a good spot to use the bathroom. Energy level: medium. He will match your energy. You want to Netflix and chill? He’s your man. You want to play rough at tug-a-war… he will play tough with you. Need a fenced in yard: No. With proper training and guidance for a while, he will come when called. It’s a bonus if you have a 6+ fence. This dog can surprisingly jump over. Dog Friendly: yes loves his foster sister (golden retriever) however, he has acted territorial of his home if there’s a male dog present. He has met potential adopter’s dogs before and does just fine. If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No Cat Friendly? No Kid Friendly: Yes, absolutely gentle around little kids. If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? 8+. He can be a little jumpy if they are playing but is easily corrected if needed. Just say his name and he will stop to look at you. Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Usher came from a shelter down south that was overcapacity and was at high risk to be euthanized. He has that puppy face that instantly draws you in to love on him no matter what. Usher is treat motivated. He is truly a good boy. Usher loves surprises such as chew bones or stuffed toys that he can pull stuffings out of. Usher has a little bit of separation anxiety but, will stop at nothing to steal your heart. His favorite phase is “do you want to go outside?” He will immediately burst into joy and rush to the door. Usher has learned some tips from his golden retriever friend such as performing a little tap dance and whine when he’s ready to go play outside again as shown as some videos in the album. It’s adorable. He can be a little overprotective if he sees a stranger on his territory but, once he sees you are alright, he is alright with it. Other than that, he’s the perfect companion and cannot wait to meet his forever best friend. Story
Dog Name: Iverson Breed: Bulldog Sex: Male Age: 2 Weight: 41 Medical Needs: Nothing major. Just completed a 3-day round of de-wormer. This will need to be repeated in 2 weeks and then again in 3 months. Medication will be provided. Housebroken: He is currently on a potty schedule and is doing really well. No accidents in the house in the last 8 days. He only had 2 accidents before that. He does not bark to alert you he needs to go outside yet. Crate trained: Yes. Sleeps in the crate without a peep During the day he is fine in the crate if he can see and hear you in the area but will sometimes get a little barky if he knows your home but can’t see you. Good in the car: He’s done great in the car for the most part. Every once in a while he thinks he should sit on your lap and help you drive though. Good on a leash: He is great on a leash!!! Slow walker and stays right beside you. If he pulls at all a quick redirect is all it takes get him back on track…unless he sees a rabbit. Then it’s game on. Walking past other people, kids, animals-they are all fine. But not rabbits. You’ve been warned. Energy level: Low to medium. Most of the time he just wants to lounge around with his people but he occasionally has spurts of energy especially when playing outside with the resident dog. Need a fenced in yard: No, but if you live in an area with rabbits it would help Dog Friendly: Yes. His foster home has another dog and they’ve had small interactions and short supervised play time with no issues. If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No. Iverson is really all about his people. He interacts with the other dog but gets bored in 5-10 minutes and would rather get some attention from the humans. Cat Friendly? Unknown but can test if requested. Kid Friendly: He loves kids! He’s been around kids ages 18-months to 14 years is gentle with greetings and loves all the love. He’s a big hit at the bus stop in the mornings and really enjoys it. If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Any Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Iverson is the sweetest!!! He’s a relaxed low key boy who just wants to hang with his people. He knows sit and comes when called. His smush face is the absolute cutest and when he gets tired he’ll come rest his head on you to let you know. He has the prettiest markings and is so soft- the perfect cuddle partner. He rarely barks (unless he feels like you’re ignoring him) and has the cutest little personality! Iverson will be a great addition to any home Fosters Location: Townsend, DE Application can be found here: https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application (if you already have an approved application on file email GrassRootsDE@gmail.com and ask the app team to pull your application ##2008489##
