Several weeks ago one of our volunteers visited a local Walmart and found someone giving away puppies. She scooped them up, and took them home knowing we would be able to find them great homes once they were ready. So, meet Equate! Equate is just about as cute as can be. She is currently 10 weeks old, and is a happy social girl who loves everyone. She loves to romp and play then snuggle up and take naps. They are believed to be bulldog/American bully/? Type mixes. She is currently about 10lbs. We anticipate they will be medium-large adults. Equate is current on vaccines, microchipped, dewormed, started on heartworm/flea prevention, and will be spayed when she is a bit older. Big Mama came to us during a large hoarding case, where we took in 20+ animals. We called her Big Mama, as it was thought she was pregnant, and fed her as such. Turns out, she was NOT pregnant, and had to lose some weight. Over time she has been on a low calorie (supplemented with green beans) diet, exercise, and has lost a lot of weight! She is a stout, friendly, happy girl. She loves everyone, toys, walks, and being next to you. She also loves her crate! Is housetrained when she is able to go out often. Owners would have to stick to her diet and exercise to make her most comfortable.

Story

Charlie is a 5 year old bulldog mix. He was found as a stray, with an injury, and though owner was found they didn’t reclaim due to needed vet care. With bulldog breeds, their tails are often situated right against the skin, an area called the tail-pocket, which can become an area of infection. Charlie had experienced such long term and chronic infection there, that it had created an internal infection, necrosis of skin, and regrowth of skin that grew from inside (near tail) the body, outside, creating what looked like a mass and threatening to take away his ability to use the bathroom - an emergency. We had reconstructive surgery done with an orthopedic surgeon, and Charlie is almost all completely healed up! He is 100% housebroken, doesn’t need a crate, and a fun dog. Even though he’s not a pup, he’s still playful like a pup with his toys, and strong. He would do best in a bull dog or similar breed experienced home, so they’d understand his personality and play style best. He would really love being understood. He’s got the best sunshine face with people who get him. His play style is bulldog/boxerish. Charlie loves lounging outside and stuffies. He gets really excited about challenging you to take it. He will benefit from setting expectations on his manners with play. He’s met other dogs and can be friendly, but if they wanted to fight or squabble, he would too. He would need to meet new dog friends, but would be perfectly happy as an only dog too. Sturdy kids who are dog experienced ok. No cats. We don’t know how he is with cats, and due to his size and strength, won’t test him here.
