Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Nino! Nino's journey began when he was found as a stray, abandoned in a field in Texas with a bowl of food next to him.  Nino absolutely loves his people. He's a happy-go-lucky pup who's incredibly food and treat motivated, just mention a snack and and he'll eagerly trot over, ready for his goodies. He loves to chew on bones and toys and is very quick to find and kill the squeaker in all toys. He should be supervised when playing with stuffed toys because once he finds the squeaker, he may try and eat it. Stuffed toys are his favorite though and he will steal all that he finds! One of Nino's favorite activities is going to the vet's office. He's excited to see all of his friends there and has never met a stranger. He also loves when the neighbor's kiddos are out front and will run over to greet them as soon as he sees them. Nino is best buds with his Chihuahua pal, and enjoys playing with other dogs too, especially when there are bones or toys involved. He can be dog selective, especially around dogs larger then him and those with alpha personalities. Slow introductions will be very important for everyone's success. While he's a goofball at heart, Nino's also a smart cookie who knows how to get what he wants – like sneaking back inside to grab a stuffed toy when no one's looking! He's a bit of a character, always keeping his foster family on their toes with his antics. Nino is on a daily dose of Prednisone and it causes him to have to pee more frequently. His foster family is working on training him to go outside but also to use potty pads if he has an emergency. He is doing well on his house training when let out on a regular cadence.  Nino has a condition called Steroid Responsive Meningitis Arteritis which is an autoimmune disease that is simply being managed with a daily dose of prednisone. Due to this autoimmune disease, Nino is unable to be vaccinated but has had a Rabies titer completed. Nino is also a bone cancer survivor! He has been getting chest radiographs completed every 3 months to confirm no spread of cancer. The Veterinarians recommend having these completed until March of 2025 where they will fully consider him in Remission.  If you're looking for a goofy, smart, and lovable companion who'll keep you entertained with his antics, Nino might just be the perfect match for you. So, if you're ready to open your heart and home to this delightful pup, Nino's waiting to meet you! Nino currently lives with big and small dogs and adults. He can be dog selective when it comes to dogs larger them him, especially those with an alpha personality. He has never been introduced to cats. Nino is a tripod, so a home with a lot of stairs that he needs to use often would not be a good fit.    Nino is from Texas.  If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. Story
Hi there, I’m Boss. My age isn’t spot on but the vet and my foster family say I’m still young and have a lot of puppy in me! My approximate birthday is 12/20/22. I’m a big dog (60+ pounds) and still growing love bug (you can see that with the heart on my nose) that loves to snuggle and go on walks. Due to being a bully mix, lots of walks, hikes and stimulating games are a huge need because of my excitement and energy! Ongoing training is also a must to remind me that humans are in charge. When I’m calm, my favorite thing to do is observe the outside world through the windows. I LOVE looking out windows. I love car windows and car rides too. Sticking my head out the window and looking around is so freeing. It also draws a lot of attention to me which I love! My foster’s find that kind of strange due to my past. I was found somewhere in the middle of nowhere. Sadly, but thankfully I was dumped near a house…the people in the house decided to walk out to investigate and found me sitting where I was dumped. I was confused and trying to figure out what just happened to me! Boy was I thankful to see them! I do amazing with other dogs but I get too excited when I first see them that I forget boundaries. This can make other dogs nervous. I don’t realize that I’m a BIG boy for my age. Cats and smaller animals wouldn’t be good around me. If it’s small and moves, it’s a toy for me. I’m good with kids but my energy can easily get in the way of that. Older kids would be better suited for me. I’m potty trained on a schedule. I’m also kennel trained which is needed if I’m going to be left alone for any period of time. Another thing I like to do is parkour! Parkouring is my ultimate way to get up to high places such as taller beds and couches. I also do the run and jump, at least that’s what my fosters called it because of my little stubby legs. I’m still trying to figure out my new life and home setting. I’d love to find someone I could relax with and that wouldn’t mind my snorting and snoring but also someone to go and adventure around with. Hope to meet you soon! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee:  $525.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 26, 2024, 1:01 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Want to meet me? Come to SLP Nutrition (6538 W Lake St, St Louis Park, MN 55426) for an Adoption Event on Saturday, March 30th from 10:00 am-12:00 pm. Please email inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com for questions regarding the dogs. Hello, my name is Jayce! I’m a quiet young adult female Bulldog who is not only stunning to look at but I’m hilarious & fun-loving too! Hee, hee!! I’m a stubborn gal who likes to have things my way and I enjoy eating things I shouldn’t like soft toys, blankets, & clothes. The truth is, I love everything…foster mom says, “sometimes too much” for example I cannot have a bed in my kennel, and I probably shouldn’t have soft toys at all especially if unsupervised because I may devour them LOL!! I have not met any cats and I have been working hard with foster mom on understanding I don't need to resource guard things. Since getting spayed, I have made great improvements in this area, but upon first intros in a new home, my forever home should just remember I am still learning!  I love my kennel and toys and all you people so much!  With other pups, some could say I'm more of the alpha lady in the group. I just let everyone know that and the dogs get that out of the way and then we are besties!  If you have no other dogs in the home and can give me all the attention, well, that would be FABULOUS!  I tend to be better friends with the boy dogs that I meet because they tell me I'm pretty ;) That said, I am also working diligently at potty training and although I do my business outside, I still have some accidents in the house which foster mom thinks could be a ploy for attention…all I know is that I’m trying hard to not have them! I AM, however, leash & kennel/crate trained; I know commands like “sit”, “down”, “come”, “kennel/crate”, “leave it”, “outside”, & “go potty”; I’m a good listener; and I do well in an environment tailored to my needs…sneaky girls after all, need no temptations am I right!?!  I am good with kids, but because of my love for eating things I should not, I would not do well in a home with kids who have little socks, stuffed animals, and other intriguing things around. They tell me it will get stuck in my stomach, but I'm not sure what that means really.... Being a bulldog, I do need my tail pocket cleaned pretty regularly. When I came to Underdog, I had a pretty nasty tail infection and we treated that. I was evaluated to have my tail removed, but my tail is so short that it was not an option as it would be very complicated. I just need a forever home who will help me keep that clean! Anyway, I am a wonderfully adorable albeit complicated lady who simply wants ALL the love I can get! In other words, I’m looking for YOU…a VERY patient, unconditionally loving, bulldog savvy, fur-ever family that will help me work on my behavior and NEVER give up on me. I’m curious and always willing to check out new things but I assure you there is nothing in the world more important to me than my home and my people. Sure I may be a handful but I am super easy to love and I promise if you welcome me into your world, I will love you more than anything and I will totally make you laugh! Love, Jayce *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared.  Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption.  This will be at the adopters expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue.   Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a    particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.     Bulldogs are a member of the Brachycephalic breed and therefore have a host of health issues that may arise.  Because these dogs are new into our rescue, health issues in the future may arise that we are not aware of.  Some of these issues are allergies, eye issues, yeast infections, interdigital cysts, slipped disks in their back, breathing problems, among a host of others that can occur at any time or when seasons change. While breed experience is not required, we encourage you to thoroughly research the breed and its financial, medical, and environmental needs to be sure the breed is a good fit for you and your family.  It is estimated that the average bulldog owner spends $2,000 per year on medical needs.      In addition to normal pre adoption surgeries, Betty also had surgery on her nares and soft palate to improve the quality of her breathing. This is reflected within her adoption fee. Bulldogs are one of the most expensive dogs to own, maintain, and rescue and our adoption fees reflect such expenses.  The application process for bulldogs usually moves quite quickly as they are a popular breed, so we ask that adopters do research and be prepared for adoption at the time you submit your application.  They are happy, goofy, playful characters and we are excited you are taking the first steps into rescuing one!   This dog requires an application fee.  This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.    We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Bulldog Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the bulldog. Our goal is place bulldogs in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the bulldog, we will not approve your application.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Name: Slim Jim Breeds: American Bully Age: Adult Sex: Male Size: Medium Slim Jim is a short stack American Bully who was taken in as part of a cruelty case. He was emaciated and found in an abandoned home in frigid water from pipes bursting. How this boy didn’t freeze to death is nothing short of a miracle. He has gained weight nicely and sure doesn’t hold any grudges from his rough start. He loves people wants nothing more that to crawl in your lap for love. He is great with other dogs. Housetraining is unknown since he is in a shelter setting but he does a good job keeping his kennel clean so we expect him to pick it up quick with consistent training. Slim is the true picture of resilience and he deserves someone to love him as much as he loves them. Requirements: No special requirements Adoption Fee: $500 + tax. This includes neuter/spay, current vaccinations as age appropriate, heartworm/tick testing in dogs over 8 months of age, deworming, microchip and current Heartgard and Nexgard preventatives. Story
We adopted Frank May 5th, 2019 in Las Vegas into our home with a French Bulldog. Frank was abandoned and had no records. We think he was a puppy, we believe he is now 6 years old. Frank got along well (at first) with our Frenchie. After a couple months, Frank grew significantly larger and started to assert dominance. He has shown dog aggression since the moment we brought him home. Frank is the sweetest dog to any human he meets, but he MUST be the only pet in the home. You cannot think you can change this about Frank, you cannot, this is who he is. The ideal home for Frank is one with an individual or couple who have older children or do not plan on having children. Frank loves our baby, but he simply does not know his size, so he lovingly knocks her over often with his bowling ball body. Frank is intuitive, loving, and loyal. He is eager to please and wants to make his owners happy. We are heartbroken to let go of Frank, we just cant risk the baby getting in the middle of a dog fight
