Story
Neptune is our longest-term resident, having been with LPC since his litter was pulled from the shelter when he was just 3 weeks old. Now, as a 9 month old lanky teenager, he’s still looking for a home that accepts him for exactly who he is.
While Neptune has been in rescue, he has become beloved by many. With his goofy puppy antics, devilishly handsome looks, desire to please, incredible intelligence, and sheer enjoyment of life, his happy personality is infectious. While he’s timid around new people, once he gets to know you, you’re his best friend for forever. He’s incredibly loyal to his people, and wants nothing more than a best friend. Neptune has worked through potty training and crate training, and has even spent time with a trainer to learn obedience training.
While there are endless compliments we can shower Neptune with, showing him only in his best light has gotten him no closer to finding his forever home. As an English Shepherd mix, Neptune shows us all he’s simply too smart for his own good. Neptune needs lots of activity or mental stimulation to keep his mind occupied, as many shepherds do. If he is not provided enough mental and physical stimulation, he will find ways to entertain himself, and those choices don’t always align with keeping the house, or himself, safe. Right now, his foster is working hard to ensure he has many enrichment toys to help occupy his mind in addition to the daily walks and yard time he gets in his foster home! But he needs an adopter understanding of his needs, and sees past the stunning exterior.
Despite his quirks, Neptune deserves nothing more than a home of his own. He has watched all his siblings get adopted and settle into their forever homes, and they have all been settled in for several months at this point. While Neptune loves his foster family, it has been so hard seeing him get looked over time and time again.
Neptune is looking for a home with no cats or other dogs, ideally with an active couple who needs an adventure buddy. He’d do better in a home with a securely fenced 5+ foot fence, as he can jump his Foster’s 3-foot fence. A home with shepherd or working breed experience would be ideal for this boy, as he would thrive with a strong leader to help safely show him what life’s about.
Neptune’s adoption fee is FULLY SPONSORED, meaning his adoption fee is $0. If you think you could be the forever home Neptune is looking fir, you can apply to adopt through the link in our bio.
