Story
Hi, my name is Frankie and I was living a terrible life as a street puppy in Mission Texas near the border of Mexico. I had no owner, instead, I went from home to home asking for food and that was how I existed. It’s a miserable way to live, but I had no choice, and I never gave up the dream that some nice family would take me in and make me their forever dog. Instead, a dog rescue picked me up, which was almost as good and I am now being fostered in San Antonio Texas while getting ready to move to Connecticut. I am a sweet little Italian Greyhound/Chihuahua mix, lean and leggy, I'm 2 years old, 19 lbs, friendly with people young and old, and friendly and playful with other dogs. I make a very nice playmate with my doggy friends, a bit submissive when we play and I treat my doggy friends very nicely. Going for daily walks is one of my favorite activities and I walk nicely on a leash. I stay in my crate while my foster parents go to work and it doesn't bother me. I’m a good boy, affectionate and loving, always happy, I rarely bark, and I am well-behaved in a home. No chewing or digging and BONUS… I’m already housebroken. My foster parents rock and they have taught me so many wonderful things so I can land the best forever home. I just was neutered, my vaccines are done, and I’m chipped and ready to move to Connecticut. I can’t wait to meet you! * 4 Little Paws is based in CT. We adopt in many different states along the East Coast. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. If you are located outside the states we typically adopt to, we have options to get the dog of your dreams to your location.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. MAGGIE-Pierce was saved from a kill shelter in Georgia and arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024.  Maggie-Pierce is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives and is microchipped with 24PetWatch. She has an estimated date of birth of 4 November 2023 and in April 2024 weighed of 20 pounds. We have no way of knowing the breed, it is up to individuals to look at the pictures and videos to make up their own mind. This sweet girl is still a baby and so we are looking for families who understand how much work puppies are, who are able to ensure she gets all the socialization she needs, the training, routine and structure to give her the right start to her wonderful life ahead of her. Maggie-P is in a kennel with several other pups similar in age, some bigger, some smaller and she is having a great time playing and wrestling most of the day, when of course they are not snuggled up in a big puppy pile dreaming of their forever families and future lives full of adventure ahead of them. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue    YouTube channel   and    photo albums on our Facebook page   t o see a LOT of pictures and videos. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. Maggie-Pierce is located at the rescue in Sebec Maine and is available for a  reduced adoption  fee of $550. Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. https://giveadogahome-rescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5838 HOUSE TRAINED - All of our dogs are located in the kennel building so we are not able to say if a dog is house-trained, however, they do have access and use the dog door to access their run, play area 24/7. FOOD - We feed a variety of high quality brands and flavors including, chicken, turkey, beef, lamb and fish generally alternated daily. CATS - We do not have cats in the kennels and are not able to say how our dogs are with cats. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. MYRTLE was saved from being shot on the streets of Oman by an amazing organization Muscat Dog Adoption. She along with her 7 friends were flown into JFK where they were cleared the CDC and then picked up and transported back to Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024 Myrtle is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 2 July 2022 and at the time of transport weighed around 30 pounds. Mixed breed dogs in Oman are referred to as Omani Wadi Dogs, with most of them being Saluki mixes. Myrtle is a sweet, gentle, affectionate girl who weighs just 30 pounds but do not let her slight frame fool you. When she is familiar in her surroundings, she is confident and loves to keep her fellow Omani kennel mates in check. She is very loving and takes treats very gently after she has checked it out for 10 minutes to be sure you are not trying to poison her lol. She is good with other dogs, but can be choosy who she wants to share with, not in an aggressive way at all but she knows who she wants to be friends. She is smart, loving affectionate and will need an active life and a family that understands the need of the sighthound and be able to provide the lifestyle that she needs and deserves. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue    YouTube channel    and    photo albums on our Facebook page   to see a LOT of pictures and videos. She has an estimated date of birth of 7 February 2022 and at the time of transport weighed around 33 pounds. Mixed breed dogs in Oman are referred to as Omani Wadi Dogs, with most of them being Saluki mixes Bellatrix is a sweet, gentle, fragile girl, but one that takes no pushing around from the other dogs. She shares a kennel with Alma-Boy and Chip a young cattle dog pup and she keeps them in check. She likes to bark with the other dogs letting them know that she is in charge, she is adorable. She is gentle and sweet and although good with other dogs she can be a bit choosy of who she wants to share company with. Bellatrix is very affectionate and would be a great snuggle companion. Like the sighthound breeds, she is active, but it is more in burst of energy, she will definitely need someone who can give her that chance to run and burn off and to play with the dogs she wants to be friends with. Story
Although Ezra is a sweet dog, he is reactive with dogs and, since his owner is moving to a situation that would necessitate Ezra being around other dogs, the tough decision was made to locate a new home for him. Ezra needs a human companion (or companions) who do not have other dogs in their home. Since Ezra currently has a fenced yard, a fenced yard would be ideal. Located in GA, Ezra’s owners will drive a significant distance to place him in a loving, forever home. Six-years-old and weighing about thirty pounds, Ezra is believed to be an Italian Greyhound/Bulldog, with his owner indicating that “the Italian Greyhound comes through in a lot of his mannerisms as well as those long, skinny legs.” This guy is “goofy, shy sometimes, and food motivated.” He loves people and will “happily chill out with them.” His activity level is low – “he has a spurt of energy once a day and one walk is enough to wear him out.” Ezra is house trained (potties in a fenced yard and on walks) and is accident-free; doesn’t pull significantly on-leash unless he views another dog; is crate trained, but is given free roam of the house when left alone; only tends to bark when someone is at the door or he views a dog; likes to wear sweaters and jackets; and loves car rides. He is reactive with other dogs, but other than that is very relaxed and loving. Ideally, Ezra’s new person will continue to work with him so that he can walk calmly past other dogs; when on-leash and he views another dog “he is reactive (fur stands up, low growl, pulls), but it’s made worse if that dog barks at him (then Ezra barks and pulls hard).” Due to Ezra’s on-leash reactivity, he has only been off-leash with a relative’s dog and the owner “had to intervene to stop a fight twice. Once was food-related (started by Ezra) and the other was retaliation against Ezra’s territorial behaviors (started by the other dog).” Italian Greyhound Place would be glad to provide information on desensitization and counter-conditioning which can be a very effective approach. Ezra’s food motivation will be of benefit here! If you have questions about Ezra or think he could be the canine companion for you, please contact Italian Greyhound Place.
