She was spotted several times running across a 4-lane highway. In the heat of Summer and in the cold of Winter she tried to survive alone. She had no home. Her life consisted of looking for something to eat and hiding from people who either shooed her away or threw things at her. Finally, during the heavy storms and more than average snow, she had to make her way down. It was freezing cold and she was skin and bones by this time. Food was scarce and she was giving up.  She would hide wherever she could and come out only to find something to eat – someone kind spotted her and left some food out. She stayed in that area of Tollhouse. Lab Rescue was contacted and we set a trap. It didn’t take long for her to be caught due to the yummy food in the trap. Finally safe February 28th. It was a long, slow process for an emaciated dog like Cookie to gain back to a healthy weight. It was also a long process for her to gain the trust of humans. Her foster worked with her daily to gain her trust. She had obviously never been in a home, nor treated with kindness or affection. Fast forward- Tollhouse Cookie is in excellent shape now. She’s healthy, spayed, microchipped and vaccinated and sassy. Little by little her confidence grew and she has blossomed into an affectionate dog who gets along with other dogs. She has learned that there are good people in this world who want her to have what every dog should have – a home, good food and the love of a human who treats her with gentle kindness. Cookie will probably always be a bit standoffish with new people. She is looking for someone who will take the time she needs to trust. Cookie’s foster Mom is looking for a family that will give Cookie time to blossom in a new environment, and who will enjoy the rewards of seeing how much she can accomplish. Cookie is crate and house-trained and is about 2 years old. She gets along with dogs but would be fine as an only dog. She does have some drive to get those squirrels so we think a home without cats is best. If you would like to know more about Cookie, please fill out an adoption application at www.labrescuefresno.org If you are interested in adopting through Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, you must first fill out an Adoption Application located at our website www.LabRescueFresno.org All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines including rabies; flea/tick topical drops, heartworm tested and microchipped. Meet Phoenix, the energetic and exuberant pup who can't wait to light up your life! This playful canine is an excellent addition to any family looking for a high-energy companion.  Phoenix is a social butterfly and generally gets along well with most dogs. Whether it's a rousing game of fetch or a frolic in the park, he loves his playtime with furry friends. His sociable nature makes Phoenix an excellent companion for both humans and four-legged pals. Not only is Phoenix full of energy, but he's also a sharp learner. He has mastered basic training commands and is always eager to show off his impressive skills. Sit, stay, and paw are just a few tricks Phoenix can perform flawlessly. With his enthusiasm and quick learning abilities, he'll be a joy to train and continue his education with.  It's important to note that Phoenix can become overexcited during walks and may bark at other animals. This is something that will require ongoing training and patience to manage. With consistent reinforcement and positive reinforcement techniques, Phoenix can learn to walk calmly and politely.  Despite his excitability, Phoenix's playful and affectionate nature shines through. He loves spending time outdoors, exploring new sights and smells. Whether it's a hike in the woods or a run on the beach, he thrives on activities that engage his exuberant spirit. When it's time to wind down, Phoenix knows how to relax and cuddle up next to you for a cozy night in. He may have bursts of excitement, but he also has a loving and affectionate side that will make you feel truly cherished If you are an experienced dog owner who can provide the structure and guidance Phoenix needs, he could be the perfect fit for your family. With a little training and consistent exercise, Phoenix will grow into a well-rounded canine companion. Are you ready to bring Phoenix into your home? If you're looking for an energetic, playful, and eager-to-learn dog, he is the one for you. Open your heart and give Phoenix a loving home, and you'll be rewarded with a loyal and fun-loving canine companion. Please apply at www.labrescuefresno.org and ask for Phoenix! So, you are probably wondering how such a handsome guy like me found himself looking for his second chance at love?  All too common of a story – taken to the shelter when my previous owners were “moving.”  Wonder what it would be like if dogs ran the world?  Bet they wouldn’t even need shelters, but I digress.  Don’t feel sorry for me!  I am one of the very luck ones!  So many don’t get saved.  I was picked up by the best of the best, the Defenders of Dogs, the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno.  Oh, and did I tell you – by adopting me, you give them a chance to save another deserving soul!  That’s what I would call a win for everyone! You should know inside this handsome ebony body lies a happy heart of pure gold.  I love people of all shapes and sizes – especially ones that throw tennis balls!  I may be 8 but did you know that is the new 5?  I can swim, walk, and chase a ball with the best of them and a bit of hip dysplasia doesn’t slow me down one bit!  Couple that with great house manners and you have a perfect gentleman dog just waiting for his perfect home!  You should note that I would like to be your only furry pet so I can get all the love because I sure have plenty to give!  Won’t you give this big guy a chance?  You will never be sorry you did! Chief is available for adoption through the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno.  He is loving and good with people. He loves to play fetch, swim, and go for walks.  In return, he is a happy boy who is very loyal to his people but would be best as the only furry friend in the household.   He has a bit of hip dysplasia and could lose a pound or two to help with that situation, but it doesn’t affect his quality of life.  If you have room in your heart and home, you can’t go wrong with this gentleman dog.  If you would like to adopt Chief, please fill out an application at our website: https://www.LabRescueFresno.Org If you are interested in adopting through Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, you must first fill out an Adoption Application located at our website www.LabRescueFresno.org All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines including rabies; flea/tick topical drops, heartworm tested and microchipped. So, a little about me and how a Hug saved me.  You see, I was one of many homeless dogs living in the “wild” where no domestic dog should be.  My golden colored doodle hair matted with foxtails and pulled painfully at my skin.  As a lover not a fighter, food was limited and many a day my stomach rumbled with hunger and my body became emaciated.   Then I was caught and taken, shivering with fear, to the local shelter I thought it was the end.   But I would turn out to be one of the few lucky dogs as the shelter I was taken to works with rescues.  And boy, they didn’t hesitate to bring in the big guns for me - none other than the Defenders of Dogs, the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno – and I was saved!  It did take a lot of patience as I was very scared.  Lots of gentle pets, plenty of food, and a few other dogs to let me know what to do.  And then I got my first hug, and I became instantly addicted! So now that I know the ropes, like my crate, using the doggy door, and playing with other four-legged pups, I am ready to find my own family that will give me lots of love and hugs. I’m still basically a puppy and haven’t had much opportunity for an adventure, but really the most important thing I need is to be with my family.   Someone to take me for walks, teach me some tricks, and best of all, let me rest my head on their chest so I can hear their heartbeat while we have the best of all hugs!  Is that you?  Can we have an adventure together? Molly is available for adoption from the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno.  Remember, young dogs like Molly can be a commitment of 15 or so years, and requires an upfront investment in training, and regular exercise.   Additionally, Doodlish dogs like Molly require regular grooming to avoid painful matting.   Molly is a hugger who gets along with people, kids, and other dogs. There is no cat in her foster home but with her sweet nature it is thought she might be able to live with a dog savvy cat.  She is also house, crate and leash trained.  She will require patience while she learns to trust you, but once given, you are her friend for life.    If you would like to give Molly the home and love she is so looking for, please fill out an application at: https://www.LabRescueFresno.Org If you are interested in adopting through Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, you must first fill out an Adoption Application located at our website www.LabRescueFresno.org All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines including rabies; flea/tick topical drops, heartworm tested and microchipped. My name is Chase, and I'm currently staying with one of the wonderful foster families at Lab Rescue of Fresno. I'm here to tell you a little bit about myself and hopefully find my furever home! I may not be able to speak in words, but my wagging tail and bright eyes speak volumes about my friendly and affectionate nature. I'm a playful, energetic and sweet boy who loves nothing more than spending time with my human friends. I love playing with this little human at my foster house, he is so much fun and loves to throw the ball to me. My journey to Lab Rescue hasn't been the easiest, but I'm grateful for the second chance at finding a loving home. I was initially brought to Lab Rescue when I was found as an 8-week-old puppy roaming the streets.  Now I am back with Lab Rescue with my original foster family because my owners had something happen and can’t take care of me any longer.  I have graduated from puppy training school, am crate trained and potty trained.  I'm up to date on all my vaccinations and I do have to take an inexpensive daily thyroid medication, but that doesn’t stop me from playing or having fun! I'm looking for a forever family who can provide me with plenty of love, attention, and exercise. I get along well with people of all ages, love playing with kids and love playing with other dogs.  A fenced yard would be a bonus so I can run and play safely, but most importantly, I'm seeking a home where I'll be cherished as a beloved member of the family. If you think I could be the perfect match for your family, please don't hesitate to reach out to Lab Rescue of Fresno. They'll be happy to provide you with more information about the adoption process and arrange a meet-and-greet so we can get to know each other better. Thank you for considering opening your heart and home to a rescue dog like me. I promise to fill your life with unconditional love, joy, and endless tail wags! With love, Chase   If you are interested in adopting through Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno, you must first fill out an Adoption Application located at our website www.LabRescueFresno.org All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines including rabies; flea/tick topical drops, heartworm tested and microchipped. Because of you, my hip surgery was successful, I am up and about and doing well but I am really tired of crate rest. I would love to play fetch with you and cuddle, and play. Lady G is potty trained, an inside dog who sleeps all night in her crate. She gets along with the dogs in her foster home and grandchildren who visit. Cats are unknown because there are none in the foster home. Lady is learning some leash skills and simple commands. She is on the smallish side for a Labrador and past the puppy crazy stage. She does love her chew toys. Her sweetness could win anyone over! Lady G is ready for her family to make that love connection. If Lady G has stolen your heart and you believe she could make your family complete, you can apply for adoption at www.labrescuefresno.org.
