Additional adoption info

Adoption Fees -
Senior Dog - 7 years and up, $125
Adult/Young Dog - 1 year to 7 years, $275
Puppies - 12 weeks to 1 year, $325

Adoption Requirements​-
1.Be at least 21 years of age
2.Have the knowledge and agreement of all adults living in the household
3.Have approval from owner of residence (written in lease)
4.Have a valid ID with current address
5.Be approved as a suitable adoptive home by Hedd Mutt Foundation
6.Be prepared to make a lifetime commitment

Adoption Process-
1.Fill out the adoption application below
2.Meet with the dog and talk with HMF
3. HMF will take the time to consider the needs of both the family and the dog. We want the best for the animal and the family.
4.Talk with HMF regarding if this is the best fit. Please realize that the final decision to place the animal is determined by HMF Board members and the foster home
5. A home check will be done for applicants prior to any final placements being made
6. On some occasions, we will require dogs to take basic obedience training. This must be adhered to as part of the adoption contract

We expect our adoptions to be lifetime commitments. If you must give up your pet, you must return the pet to Hedd Mutt Foundation.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
