Pre-adoption application submitted.
Pre-adoption application is reviewed by our Board of Directors.
All applications are reviewed in the order they are received.
Director of Operations follows up with any questions and the requested cat’s availability status
based on the application.
Director of Operations checks character and/or veterinary references. (Note if this is your first
pet, we will confirm that you have established a local veterinary clinic and are prepared for the adoption).
If the Board of Directors and the Director of Operations you are a potential match for a specific
cat, a meet-n-greet will be arranged.
If the applicant and Director of Operations agree the cat is a match, a home visit will be
scheduled. The home visit will be completed by one of our board members.
If all goes well and both parties feel the cat is a match, an adoption will be scheduled/finalized.
This will include reviewing our adoption agreement, reviewing veterinary records, collecting
adoption fee and taking a family photo.
Special notes: We only work with one applicant at a time and ask the same of our
applicants. If you are pursuing other cats via other organizations at the same time you are working with us, we respectfully reserve the right to no longer pursue our process with you.
We cannot hold cats in rescue. If you cannot schedule a meet-n-greet with in a timely
manner we will move forward with our next applicant. If we do not receive a response
within 24 hours, we will move on to that cats next applicant.
Our goal is to make life-long matches and ensure all of our cats find their forever homes.

Adopt a Pet is the easiest way for you to search for a new pet in Petersburg, TN.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
