Papa's Pet Project, Inc. Animal rescue in Plymouth, MA

Papa’s Pet Project is working with you and the Plymouth Animal Shelter and Helping Hands for the Plymouth Animal Shelter to help improve the lives of homeless pets in the area. Many of them need just a few weeks of special care before they’re ready to go to good new homes. Some, who are older or sicker, or who have suffered extra trauma, need foster a foster home with lots and lots of tender loving care. And still some of the animals who come to the Plymouth Animal Shelter aren’t quite ready to be adopted and a foster home can provide just the right setting for readying the animal for his/her forever home. Papa’s Pet Project helps to set up spay/neuter, shelter, foster, and adoption programs in our own neighborhoods and surrounding towns. The work of Papa’s Pet Project is supported entirely through donations. Through the generous hearts and hands of people like you, we can help improve the lives of homeless pets.

Rescue FAQs

We are an animal rescue organization that has partnered with Petsmart Charities and show our cats at their cat adoption center at Petsmart at the Shops at 5. We volunteer with Helping Hands for the Plymouth Animal Shelter to find homes for cats left at the town shelter.

Additional adoption info

Please fill out the Cat Adoption Application and email to pets@papaspetproject.org or bring it with you to the Petsmart Adoption Center located at the Shops at 5 Way in Plymouth, MA.

All applications are carefully screened by Papa’s Pet Project adoption staff. Papa’s Pet Project has a very strong policy of non-discrimination and considers each potential adoptive family on an individual basis. With all of our adoptions, we talk with you about the cat you are interested, especially if the cat has special needs. If you don’t have a particular cat in mind, the adoption coordinator will discuss with you what sort of cat might be best for your lifestyle. Please keep in mind that cats usually pick you and not the other way around!! So be sure to come in and meet them face to face!

Once an application is approved, there is an adoption donation of $100 for cats and $175 for kittens, which will help cover the costs of a spay/neuter and vaccinations for the next cat we rescue.

Please make sure you have the appropriate-sized carrier for your cat. Carriers should be large enough your cat to stand up and turn around.

Papa’s Pet Project’s adoption staff will do a follow-up call or email after each adoption to ensure that the cat is adjusting well to his/her new home and everyone is happy with the new member of the family. Follow-up phone calls or e-mails are done at approximately one week and three weeks after adoption.

The adoption process may take 2-3 days and that we will do everything we can to speed up the process to make sure we have made the best match between you and your "fur-ever" friend.

Finally, we make a lifetime commitment to any animal we rescue. If you can no longer can care for your cat, we request that you return the animal to Papa’s Pet Project, Inc.
