We are a New Mexico registered non profit corporation. We are a NOT FOR profit rescue for pit bull type dogs and other targeted and misunderstood breeds, especially deaf bully breeds. We are a network of foster homes, building the foundations for a sanctuary/halfway house in Northern New Mexico. Our current focus is fighting breed discriminatory legislation & widening our network of foster homes to keep bully breed dogs out of kill shelters.

Adoptable pets at Gentle Souls Sanctuary, Inc.
This rescue doesn’t have any adoptable pets right now – check out adoptable pets nearby or start a custom pet search below.
We are a rescue, not an open admission animal shelter. Our animals have been pulled from death row at municipal shelters Albuquerque and McKinley County, New Mexico, therefore our adoption policy is strict.
Additional adoption info
We require home checks, background checks, a 2 week trial adoption or foster to adopt and our fee is $225. This includes 6 weeks of dog training. We will require approval in writing from your landlord, and confirmation that your homeowner's policy does not have breed restrictions. We believe animals are family members and must not be kept outdoors or tied up. When you adopt a new family member, it is a commitment for life. Pets are not disposable.
