About Pittie of Love Animal Rescue

Pittie of Love is a 501c3 non-profit, Philadelphia based, animal welfare organization dedicated to matching adoptable animals with the right homes and promoting the humane treatment and training of all animals. We are a network of volunteers and foster homes. All of our adoptable animals are in foster care, living with our volunteers until the right permanent home is found. We strive to give them the best possible care while they are with us, and to place them in homes that will do the same. We have a soft spot for pit bull type dogs, since they are often misunderstood and have a great need for rescue.
Our foster parents take the time to get to know each individual animal. They do this not only to find a great match for the animal, but also so they can give adopters as much information as possible about the animal. We also strive to get to know our potential adopters, to help them find an animal they can build a lasting, fulfilling relationship with. Not everyone is looking for the same thing in a pet, and different animals have different needs. We want to make sure everyone is happy in the end.
While our dogs are in their foster homes, our volunteers teach basic cues, house training, and crate training. We want training to be an enjoyable experience for the dog, the foster parent, and when the time comes, the adopter. For this reason we promote the most modern, evidence based training methods, which use only positive reinforcement. Training is a great way to build a bond with a new dog and these methods are sure to keep your pup happy and engaged. We help adopters understand and utilize force free training techniques by taking an educational and supportive approach. We are committed to learning more about animal behavior and training and we love to share this experience with others. We want adopters to build the best relationship possible with their new pet and offer support both during and after the adoption process.
If you have any questions about our rescue, our adoptable animals, or positive reinforcement training please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We will do our best to answer any questions and look forward to hearing from you.

Adopt a Pet is the easiest way for you to search for a new pet in Philadelphia, PA.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
