Areas True-Blue Pet Rescue serves
Please note that we typically prefer to adopt our dogs to adopters in Colorado, and in-state applicants will be given first priority for adoptions. We make a commitment to our dogs that we will always take them back if things don’t work out, and the logistics of getting a dog back from out of state makes this more difficult. In addition, we are unable to do home visits in person in these cases, which means we aren’t able to really determine if the home is a good fit for the dog. We don’t provide transportation, and all adoptions must be done in person. We encourage out-of-state folks wishing to adopt to look for their future pets through their local shelters and rescue groups. There are many dogs all over that are highly adoptable and just waiting for homes.

Additional adoption info
Please understand that we are a volunteer-run organization, and as such, we have jobs and family responsibilities. We make every effort possible to respond to inquiries and applications within 24-48 hours, but there may be times that other obligations dictate that it may be longer. We appreciate your patience, and do our best to provide timely and courteous service. Applications take priority when we correspond. If you're truly interested in a pet, please fill out an application or you may miss the opportunity to adopt the pet you are inquiring about. Our priority is making a good match between what is best for our dog and your family so that you can have many happy years together, so submitting an application does not guarantee approval..
Adoption fees include spay or neuter, microchip, and vaccinations up to date. Applications must be submitted and approved prior to meeting the pet. All dogs are in foster care, we don't have a facility, so appointments are required. Adoptions are first come, first served among approved adopters.
Be advised that listed breeds are a guess based on common characteristics, and we make no guarantee about a dog's breed.
Adoption agreement includes the promise to return the dog if things don't work out; that the use of shock collars or other devices that can cause pain are not used; that everyone is in agreement to the adoption in the home; and that you will keep the dog vaccinated and on heartworm preventative. If a vet has determined that a puppy's health is compromised by sterilizing him or her prior to adoption, then the adopter must pay a $100 deposit that will be refunded once records are received to prove the surgery has been completed. An appointment will be set up for the surgery, and adopter will be expected to ensure the puppy gets to the appointment. Failure to do so will result in a breach of contract, and the rescue will reclaim ownership of the pet. Puppies that are not spayed or neutered prior to adoption must be sterilized within 90 days of adoption, or at a time recommended by a licensed veterinarian. We pay for those services if adopters use one of our 3 local veterinarians in Aurora, Lakewood, and Thorton. Sterilization is required for adoption.
